Back when I was living in Chiang Mai, Santhitam was my FAVORITE area to explore. Great food options, my dentist (VP Dental) is located there, it was just perfect. I did a walkabout one morning after my dental appointment and came across Chiang Mai P-Place on 11/2 Santirak Rd., (Near Santitham Temple). Stumbled upon it and they were just the nicest people. Invited me without my even asking to relax on the front veranda and have a free coffee from the lobby, then showed me a few of the rooms. Very affordable and they were just so darned friendly! Highly recommend, for a night, a week or a month. Nice people.
Tells you something about an area when folks make it a habit to just leave their helmets in a row at the entry. It's the kind of thing I'd take as a good sign for a neighborhood.
It's so low cost in Chiang Mai. My rent alone in Ca, USA. Is $1485/month, 2bd 1 ba, detached shared garrage. The rest, $1400/mo is food and bills. 2 cars, fully paid., but, car ins for 2 cars totals $130/mo... included already in the $1400.... these is for 2 people, I and my wife....
Thanks for this video. I lived near McCormick Hosital in 2000. $75 for a one-room plus WC basic place. Problem was inadequate security ' I added a hasp lock. Also, noisy soi dogs. I left the city mistly becausr there us no public transportation system - I refuse to buy a motorcycle and the songthaew routes are worlefully inadequate. BTW, ten years later the price was only 100 baht more
Interesting. just watched this video. How does a new person deal with the paper work? Do you just sign blindly? and what amount of deposit will there be asking? Saw some towels in the room, do they provide cleaning service as well?
Not too far to walk to places, maybe 10 to 15 minutes and you could be in Nimman from here, but yeah if you don't like walking you'd have to get a scooter :)
We're looking for accommodation right now. But we have a cat so its been really difficult. Lots of places outside of town, HangDong etc, but finding something close to the centre is hard work. If you hear of anything, let us know!
Yeah it could be difficult if you want to be centrally located while still affordable. Have you looked at townhouses around the Mae Hia area? I haven't looked for a while but I was looking at older townhouses around here before that seemed reasonable.
Again a great video! I envy your Thai speaking, how did you manage learning besides living in Thailand for several years? I''m struggling every day but it's so difficult, my god.
Thanks, this was useful. Are these apt style buildings never Condos or could you find some, where a foreigner can buy? I assume most of these buildings are owned by only one party.
Some of those cheaper places like that are Thai only. If you are a foreigner, they will just tell you they are full. They don't want to deal with the Immigration paperwork.

Yeah it's a great area if you want to get stuck into somewhere with a more local feel still very close to the city, that place sounds great :)
At 6:00 when you just pointed at buildings and said "Lets go" got a subscribe from me. :)

Good video! Can you show us more modern condos in Chiang Mai?

Usually they’ll have an English copy as well of any contracts
Those Condos are fine if you have A Motor Scooter or A Car otherwise your stuck., Baht Buses are scarce in the areas you showed.

Thanks mate :) My Thai is not really that good tbh, I still have a long way to go :)
Good ideas here. Money saved on rent can be put out to interest!
👍

These are apartment buildings where the whole building belongs to the same person, you couldn't buy in a place like this.
Some of those cheaper places like that are Thai only. If you are a foreigner, they will just tell you they are full. They don't want to deal with the Immigration paperwork.
Some of them won't accept foreigners but many of them will
Hi , second time in Thailand, but first time going to changmai, would you recommend nimman ? Thanks
Yeah, I think Nimman is a great area, some people love it and same hate it :)
What’s the difference between that and “serviced apartments”?
Haven't watched the video yet, but serviced apartments generally have housekeeping and/or a laundry service
Yep, serviced apartments with have people to maintain your room whereas these places wouldn't.
How's the internet in those locations? Asking for a digital nomad friend ;).
Why go Condo Hunting on A Sunday when no Staff are available. 🤨
Exactly...kinda lame really.
Some places do, but unfortunately I have a job during the week :)
Are you related to the "Gone Adrift" channel? If not, which one of you are friends with Keis One?
No
Terrible video .!!!
