Hi Cal. Your channel is one of the best RUclips channels in Thailand. You provide the best information as you are living in Thailand and not a tourist. Tomorrow I will be flying for the first time to Thailand thank you for providing valuable information. I will be in Thailand for two months if I meet you I will definitely come thank you in person. P.S You are a cool guy Cal.
@@thebangkokguide Hi Cal, after watching your videos I finally bought a ticket and arrived last night. First time in Asia and it's even better then I have expected. You probably received many similar messages, still I will try my luck. What are the chances of meeting you up for few minutes in Bangkok? I can get a gram and come over when ever it's comfortable for you. P.S We look a like and we have similar interests. I am a normal guy without any bed habits.
That’s a very good observation. Yeah, I teach English at an international school here. I suppose I have ingrained a certain pace of speaking over time 😅
Nice video, nice to see a fellow Canadian flourished there. I like how you actually recommended websites and apps, very practical. Me myself also looking to move there next year as well, but the only concern I have is looking for work there (I don't want to do the English teacher route), if you are not an english teacher, you should make a video about guide on how to find work there, like what sites do they used to search for jobs, etc. Not many youtubers made videos about this topic.
Cheers! Welcome. I teach at an international school normally, which is very different from the English teaching world. Pay rates and work environments at international schools are basically the same as western countries, but employment also requires full licensing in your home country. In terms of work, it depends on the position you want and the experience you have. Foreigners are restricted from doing many jobs to protect the Thai labour market, but I have friends who work in lots of different fields here. I will do a video on working in Thailand soon.
Hi! Another great video. Thanks again. Just wondering if I don't need any bells and whistles, or a big space, and living a minimalist lifestyle and single with no family whatsoever, but like to live with more "privacy" ( living in a condo community usually means you're always surrounded by lots of people, and if it's in central metropolis, it's even more so) and close to MRT / rapid public transportation, is it possible to find a rental like that near Bangkok with USD300~ /m. Just need a simple/ basic place where I can cook my own healthy food, water, electricity, A/C, the usual suspects? Thank you.
Yeah you can. But the lower priced condos are often busier as they are more appealing to the local market. I'd recommend looking for low-rises. My current condo has become too crowded as well. Not a fan of crowds either. Cheers
Love the vid, I’m moving to bkk, for Uni in two weeks and I’m so excited. This video helped because I was about to put a deposit down on a condo from the States, but I will be waiting now.
Great. I’m happy it helped! Definitely better to wait and do it once you arrive. Make sure to watch Part 2 which covers leases, negotiation and how to avoid scams. It will be up in a couple of days 😊
Thanks for the very helpful tips👍 I've read that there are area's too avoid renting in Pattaya during the rainy season due to flooding. Are there similar flood prone areas in Bangkok?
Happy to help! And yes there are, the Sathorn area and Chaeng Watthana stand out from my experience, as these areas are low lying. They flood very easily.
Cheers mate! Thank you for the informative video, really nice! You have stayed in Thailand for 7 years right? Have you ever thought about buying a condo? In a long run it would get cheaper I guess? Do you know the important things about buying a condo in BKK? I bet some things are the same and some are different than renting one, would be really interesting to hear your ideas of buying one if you have experience in that field as well. I visit BKK 3-4 months in a year and am planning to buy my own condo in 1-2 years.
The condo market is really oversupplied...and I feel it is quite a risky investment here. I will cover this subject in a video one day as I think it is a good subject and something I have looked into a lot!

Brutally long flights make it tough to wanna go though 😂 If you don’t mind heat, I’d recommend coming around March-April. You also skip pollution season which runs through to around March, and dodge rainy season which starts in late June. Lemme know if you have any questions!
i have found a condo in 10 min. just went to NOBLR BE19 reception and they showed me 4 condos in the same buildings. The jurastic is not the place but maybee they know. the 35meter is too small for me as we are planing to move to a bigger unit. Thanks
Definitely. The newer condos are mostly half empty due to the high prices per square meter. You can find and rent one in the same day without any difficulties. Good luck on the search!
My thai friend said that I can walk into the condo building and they would be able to show me the spaces available. Is this true? I dont want to deal with hip flat etc..
It would depend on your budget but I’d recommend staying in the Sukhumvit - Asok area as it’s very central and you can checkout areas on both the mrt and bts very easily.
Great video! If I go to Bangkok for 3 months, is it easy to find a condo for this short time, for 3 months? Because on these websites there are only for one year. I am a hungarian youtuber btw. If I make videos in my condo for hungarian viewers in hungarian language, about hungarian topics, and I am on a tourist visa for 3 months, is it ok? Or I need a work permit? Thank you very much!
Yeah you can find one, but it can be better to opt for an Airbnb on a monthly rental. You can also check Facebook marketplace for lease takeovers and shorter term rentals. These are fairly common but be a bit more cautious as scams are much more common in this space. Most agencies won’t do short term rentals as they won’t be able to collect their one month fee from the owners on such short leases. In terms of work permits, you should be totally fine. I’ve never heard of anyone having an issue with working online while on holiday. If your planning for three months a tourist visa plus a 30 day extension will cover you.
Bro im thinking about moving there and buy a house like 30 minutes away from Pattaya, find me a bar girl thai citizen 😂😂😂 i'll give you an agent fee if she's a keeper and not a scammer.
Haha to be honest I recommend just coming and hanging out and meeting people outside the bar areas. You’ll find some of the nicest and most trustworthy women that you will meet anywhere! That being said, I’m good w the agent fee 😂
A Bar Girl cannot effectively earn a living if she isn’t a scammer. At least to a certain degree.Any sex worker has to be able to manipulate the truth if they are to make a profit.
I agree. Most condos have a great gym. It depends on schedule. I find that I bounce around a lot these days, so I don’t mind paying for the convenience of a gym with a lot of locations. But I totally agree. Easy $50 savings!

This is Benjakiti park. Love it as well! You can find condos that are pet friendly but it is a bit harder.
Cal, how to find a short term rent in Bangkok?
Check renthub… and filter on serviced apartments. They do short term rentals at reasonable prices!
With so many videos like this those condos will be the same price as they are in countries that we are trying to escape from.
Actually there is a huge oversupply of condos in Bangkok. It’s more likely that the whole market will crash.
