- Coal Train Makes Emergency Stop In Florida! Train Chase, Amtrak Booking With Federal Railroad Administration Inspection Car & Fast CSX Freight Train In Plant City, Florida. The Coal Train Had 3 Locomotives and was returning from the Big Bend Power Plant. Approaching the railroad diamond it was northbound. I didn't expect to see a coal train in Florida. My scanner was tuned to 160.590 and 160.1230.
I heard the train approaching right when I got to Plant City and I had to quickly figure out which track it was on. I had just arrived in Florida and was driving by when I decided to stop for a couple of hours unplanned. After I filmed the train I heard the crew calling Emergency on the radio. They told the dispatcher that they lost air. The train came to a stop so I drove ahead of it and filmed it passing by again once it got started. That was pretty cool. I am told that the train is probably CSX E010 returning to Evansville, Indiana.
Next we see Amtrak flying across the railroad diamonds with an FRA inspection car. That was a lucky catch also. It was on its way to Tampa running late.
Then when I was leaving I heard a freight train approaching so I filmed it going right through town. That thing was booking! I waited for Amtrak to return and then I left for the drive to the motel that we rented in Mulberry.
The next day we went to a park that use to be a quarry. You will see the turtles that I found at the Loyce E. Harpe Park that is between Mulberry and Lakeland, Florida. I am told that they are Gopher Tortoises and are rare. We hiked around it and went to a different park almost every day that we were in Florida. We did some railfanning but we mostly explored the parks looking for wildlife. We only made it to Plant City twice. When I was putting this video together in Ohio we were under a tornado warning. That is why the warning shows up on the Google Map pictures. The tornado hit less than 15 miles from my home and destroyed a church, some barns and damaged some homes.
Filmed February 23 and 24, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

That first turtle as just going to check his mail! 😅😂
Lol
Turtle mail -- slightly faster than snail mail.
@@beeble2003 A guy from the Netherlands sent me a book on how to speak Dutch. It took 20 days for it to get to me! lol
@@JawTooth That's because the mail turtles swim slowly in the cold waters of the North Atlantic.
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo et très bon week-end ! 🚂✨✨👍🙏
I'm envious of your railfanning in Florida. I can hardly wait for Spring to arrive! Love the nighttime Amtrak and old school bell. Always glad when some old school items are still around. Safe travels, JT.
Thank you very much! I found some old school Seaboard System signals still in use
@@JawTooth Great! Bet we see them soon.
@@FabianDiazTrainsTrucksNCars Hello Fabian!
That second CSX train was awesome. All engines facing forward.
Thanks for watching
Great first train. Noticed the lack of graffiti on those cars-nice look
Yeah me too
Amtrak over the diamond. Awesome 😃
Yes indeed!
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos and share them out here. I'm disabled and don't get out but to go to the doctors... My daughter-n-law takes me to the doctor and brings me right back home. So I get to see my train out here and do all the other things I use to do by watching other do them and share their videos out here... Be blessed my friend in Jesus name... BBE..
Amazing...Three huge engines to pull.
I like the sound of a train horn late late at night far from town and the horn kind of mournful and echoing off the Hills Plus a train going over a Crossing with a horn blowing and getting the Doppler effect

Loved hearing the Amtrak slamming the double diamond on another outstanding Jaw Tooth video. This time out of Florida !!!
Awesome video but wait there’s more 👍😎🇺🇸🚂👍
More to come!
Glad you made it to Big Bend power plant. We live only 7 miles south of it.
South of Ruskin
You always post good videos, bro. My kids enjoy them. Thank you for keeping them kid friendly.
Always! You will never see anything bad in my videos. No cussing or any controversy. Thanks for watching !
Excellent greetings from TrainSpotter TV India
Thank you very much!
Excellent
Trains & Turtles!!! My favorite!!! Thanks for sharing!!!☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
That’s an abandoned Phosphate mine. Those turtles are EVERYWHERE in Florida,It’s called a Gopher Tortoise, their burrows, when abandoned, support the lives of 150 different species, they are protected. I have 3 living in my yard! I’m 45 minutes North of Tampa, wish we could hook up❤
Never seen or heard that type of bell. This was one of your better videos.
Parkesdale Farms in Plant City has the best strawberry shortcake in the state!
Hope you had the chance to have some while you were there.
Thanks for taking time to share a video while you’re on vacation.
Hope it’s fantastic!
Aw, shucks, now he'll have to go back! 😉
Nice train station and museum awesome ❤❤❤
Hi JT good afternoon my friends you find the greatest trains so cool thanks JT ❤❤❤
Again awesome video Jaw Tooth watching enjoying too 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😃😎♥️ AWESOME VIDEO Jaw Tooth
Lots of action today! Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
Good video Jawtooth
Thanks!
And that AMTRAK night shot was WELL DONE!!!
Great video Jaw Tooth. Hope to see more of this area. Have a nice day 😊🌈
Thank you, I will
The turtle footage is great :)
Great to see Antrak in FL; many times over the years I rode the Silver Star and Silver Meteor for vacation - the train being the highlight of the trip! ( remember back in the 70s with GG1s pulling them out of Penn to be hooked up later with SDP40 or F40PHs(later) with new Amfleets mixed with diners and baggage cars from way back when...) Awesome Coal drag and slideshow and that Turtle!
Always interesting videos Mr Jawtooth.
He's a Tortoise, not a turtle.
Gopher tortoise a protected species in Florida.
If you're still in Florida, there's a great trestle you could see on your way home. It's still active and located in Taylors, South Carolina. It's 60-80 ft high and a couple of hundred yards long. It'd be worth your while to see it. Great stuff from Florida!!
Great catch of all the CSX trains and the AMTRAK trains you caught in Plant City! Its awesome you're branching out to find new HOTSPOTS! Cheers from Delmar, Delaware.
Thank you very much! I also made it to Auburndale, Lakeland and Mulberry. I went to a few other spots and struck out though.

I enjoyed the video Jaw Tooth. That location is on my bucket list. Glad you showed Plant City from different vantage points. Keep up the great work. Hope you enjoy the upcoming week railfanning. 🚂🚃🚃🏝
great train video
Live action around plant city, Florida, don’t get any better son. Cool night shot of Amtrak near their station in plant city.
Sweet catch of those big fast turtles , boy they were bookin. That’s one cool place for train watching, thanks JT.👍🏼😎
Thanks for showing wildlife
My pleasure. I am a huge environmentalist. I have more wildlife to come in my Florida videos
@@JawTooth cool looking forward to it
Some great catches in Florida. The weather looked nice. Thanks for sharing!
It was! I even got a sun burn. lol
You guys enjoy the warmth ...nice spot ! Love the action
Thanks 👍
Happy Saturday Jaw Tooth from LINY
Be sure those Turtles aren't Ninjas!
Nighttime action!
Amazing videos Jaw Tooth keep up the good work
Thanks a ton!
I like the way you viewed the Gopher turtles they are a protected species and when build in woodlands you have to get permit to move them and feed them for a year from when move them. FYI I am glad you said I come in peace!
JT wow that was some long coal train. Those Amtrak trains were booking along. Thanks so much for the videos. We enjoyed them.
Thanks for watching!
Yeah that bell doesn't seem to work too good, kind of half power.
Now that your in warm Florida you won't want to leave.
Like that tower you were in, great view.
Awesome Florida video, with your turtle friends !! 👍👍👍
Very true! Ohio has tornadoes and rain. lol
WOW JT you really get around.😊 Enjoy the 😎 .
Another amazing rail video!
Thank you very much!
I always wondered what was around the Plant City platform now we know. Thanks for showing us the Plant City/Amtrak Train Station and the view from the platform. Cool turtles. Hi Ms. JT! We love ya'll from Georgia!
Our pleasure! Thanks for watching my videos! I should say our videos since she has started helping me film. We have been to Georgia a few times filming
Always got to hit the like button before I even watch the video, awesome live action.

Great video JT!

Enjoy your trip to Florida! See you on the next, Brian! 👍🙂🇺🇸
Thanks! Will do!
Those are Gopher Tortoises. Very rare and a great find! I loved the Amtrack hitting the diamonds!
Thanks for the info! I will put that in my description. Being from Ohio it is really cool to see them in early March. We have box turtles where I live and they won't be out for a couple months or so up here. Our biggest turtles are the snapping turtles. I catch them near my pond and relocate them. The kids would freak out if they knew they were in the pond and they wouldn't swim in it anymore. Lol
That bell sounds like the fire bells at the mill where I work. Nice Florida video, enjoyed it much.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video nice to see old Pullman enjoy your vacation
Thanks 👍
Gotta like that double diamond - very cool! As a bonus, we got Tooter the Turtle and that is way cool :)
Awesome !!!
Hey jaw tooth cool trains. A railfans paradise. Cool turtles . Have a great railroad day 🚂🙋♀️
Thanks! You too!
Great video as always. I thoroughly enjoyed it
Nice chance of scenery I bet! Another great video sir! Love your energy.
Yes, thank you
@@JawTooth you’re welcome 😉
That's where I'm from! Enjoy the strawberry festival while you're in town!
Great video! I was surprised by how fast the trains were going through the town.
I know, right?
Cordele GA is one of my favorite rail fan spots along with Lakeland and Jacksonville
Love it you've earned yourself a sub!!
The Amtrack train has a wicked horn.
Nice work! I like the sound of the wheels going over the diamond. Trains and Turtles!
Thank you very much!
Great planet city video thanks Jaw tooth
J.T. - You always can tune in to situations you hear about on RR radio comms, to our benefit. That retro bell is a real treat. You have always been a train magnet, with great video gear. Yeah, that intermodal was really booking it. But, where is your speed gun, son? The lavender sky at sunset was a treat. Sure would like to know those numbers. Eleven cars on the AMTRAK and the night-time filming was really good - a helpful amount of city and ambient businesses light. Thanks for the turtle view. Now, the big ? is - who is the mailbox customer? I'm aware you're fond of coal trains, but, frankly, for the benefit of planet Earth struggling with global warming/climate change, we need a drastic reducation in the use of fossil fuels. Stay well.
Wish I’d known when you were coming to Florida. Would have loved to meet you in person. I live very close to Plant City. Love your videos! 👍🏼
Me too! Ruskin here!
Next time!
Loved those old signals @ 12'32" at Plant city after the mannequin reenactment, can't quite remember their name, "B & O" ( Baltimore & Ohio ) ?? 💚👍🪕🌎🗽
The Teenager Mutant Ninja Turtles must be on vacation! Another great video! Keep it up!
Thanks! Will do!
I live not to far from there glad you could come to enjoy our weather
Us too! We got home and a tornado hit just 15 miles from us
Those were some fine train catches. Those tortoises were awesome.
Thanks for watching
Excellent God made video, mr Jaw Tooth.
Saw in this video that you seat in a car with your lady? Have she also filmed trains and turtles in Florida, hope to see that on your next video or compilation when you and lady are back in Ohio.
Greet from Zandvoort the Netherlands 🇾🇪🇺🇸
Looks like You had a good day out on the rails and caught some good CSX and Amtrak and the turtle 🐢!🛤🚂
I like the lightning bolt decals on those CSX engines. 🚂⚡👍
On CSX, they denote AC traction.
Yeah me too
Hey! Great video Brian!
Good morning Jaw Tooth 😌
Hello there!
Best video ever JT I can't wait to see more. How was the weather? And wow they still use cabooses I hope they bring them back more.
You arrived at Plant City, Florida at the right time to catch that CSX empty coal train. CSX train #E010 is an as needed train of coal empties from Tampa, Florida to Evansville, Indiana. At Evansville, Indiana the empty coal gondola cars are handed over to the Evansville Western Railroad. The Evansville Western Railroad began service pm 1 January 2006. It is a 124.5-mile railroad that runs west from Evansville, Indiana to Okawville, Illinois. The railroad is headquartered in Mt. Vernon, Indiana. The actual bell at the road crossing that you were at in Plant City, Florida was unusual in today's era of electronic bells. It was nice that you were able to catch the empty coal gondola train after they had to declare an emergency stop because they lost air. The CSX intermodal train at Plant City, Florida was another good catch. The double catch of the Amtrak train on its trip to and from Tampa, Florida added some passenger railroading into the video. You picked a good spot to capture the outbound train so that we could see the train as it passed.
Awesome video JT!!!
Thanks!!
@@JawTooth You're welcome!!
Nice love it Amtrak csx trains 🚆 👌 😀 👍 and turtle 🐢
😂hallo Jackie/Miss Tooth.😊👍👍👍👍
Excellent video 👌👌

Plant City is always fun - about an hour for me.
Great video
Glad to see u made it down to Florida! You gonna film anything with Millenniumforce
Great video!!!
Thank you!!
Awesome video!!
Thanks!
very cool! love your videos
Glad you like them!
Great vids. Much nicer weather in Fla, no cold, rain, wind or snow.
You got that right! I get home to rain, cold and wind. Last night a tornado hit just 15 miles from my home and destroyed a church and barns. Luckily it hit in the middle of nowhere
@@JawTooth YEP LOTS OF STROM DAMAGE IN Ala & GA
@@JawTooth Hurricanes are bad too not to mention heat and humidity.
@@n2uid01 the solution is simple move to North Dakota
Jawtooth it's crazy seeing you in Florida. Because of the big difference in weather you are in a short sleeve shirt. Not here in Ohio but soon ! Great video as usual!!
Very true but I always wear short sleeve shirts, even in the snow. I don't like long sleeves. Lol. I go to Florida every winter to film. Last year I was in the St Augustine and Jacksonville area
😊i have seen aligators on Kennedy Spacecenter in nov 1998,and 1 diamant ratter snake,he was watching me,lol.🤣 thanks for the video, nice weekend further. greetz:🍐Peer.
Oh wow!
the video is crystal clear brother.
A couple of cool catches there. That was a reality nice position filming the coal train coming around the bend. The nighttime Amtrak vid came out really well, imo.
Thanks for watching !
nice!
Thanks!
Big Bend Powerplant in Tampa uses coal and there is a coal exporting dock somewhere near there. Train was probably CSX E010 hauling coal empties from Tampa to Evansville, IN.
Thanks for the information! I will put that in the description . I went to the Big Bend plant and confirmed that they still have a huge pile of coal. I don't know much about the power plant but I was told that the boilers were recently converted to natural gas. They do still use coal though
They look like the phosphate cars used by the mine near me.
Awesome video keep up with a great work and be safe out there. 👍 😀
Thanks, will do!
@Jaw Tooth your very welcome sir.
If I knew you were coming I would have come up and said hello-I like your stuff. The intermodal was I 044 (Tampa Uceta to Jacksonville Duval). RUclipsr Multicolor Films has a good video on that train. RUclipsr Distant Signal has great videos from around Florida as well.
Plant City is great at least when I was there. I delivered a load there, found a Truck Stop, ate , showered and went to bed for about 12 hours. Company wanted me in the Carolinas. I started out and the closer I got to 95 the sleepier I got. I had to stop and take a Power Nap for an hour. Started out again and Traffic was all messed up. Seems a South bound Semi crossed the median and hit 2 other Semis and some cars about an HOUR ago and we had to use secondary road
I still wonder if I hadn't stopped would I be above ground today. Have a good 1.
I liked the nighttime shot of Amtrak. I am heading ot Florida on the 8th.
when you swept off that concrete, I wondered if you were on a Disc Golf course, then I saw the basket at the end! Great video as always sir!
Yes I am! I have seen them before but this is the first time I saw one with concrete pads and brooms
@@JawTooth the nicer courses have concrete tee pad and broom, helps prevent twisted ankles and such I believe.
