The structure you opened is the now obsolete Sharkeham sewage pumping station. The large pipe used to pump god knows how much raw sewage into the sea. Amazingly we used to swim in it as kids.
do you know what this one is? We found a strange tunnel built into the cliffs while we were out kayaking. ruclips.net/user/shortswcWZQDwyh4g?feature=share
@@TheOptimisticAdventurer Could be a disused sewage outflow I suppose but my money would be on an overflow pipe used to take water away from potential flood areas. There would be a pumping station in the area. Just guessing though.
I found this vid while searching for images of Devon. I just found out I have a colonial ancestor born in 1607 in Moretonhampstead. Would love to visit some day. Looks like a beautiful place. Cheers from the other side of the pond.
Wow I live in brixham and have been into some caves around the st Mary’s area, but have never seen these before. Definitely going to check them out when the weather is nicer 👍
Superb video, great to share your day and knowledge. Amazing day too. I see the sea kicked up at the end of the day, I would've been ok on my kayak but not a paddle board. We'll plan something for spring . 😊
Cracking video! Those caves are spectacular! I've dived and kayaked around Brixham and the Torbay area a fair bit. I also spend great deal of time in Pembrokeshire doing the same! If you're ever up that way again (I see you've done Abereiddy) go up to Ceibwr Bay and paddle to the Witches Cauldron (about a mile). Great cave system with different chambers that open/close according to the tide state. Also a waterfall cave. You've got a new subscriber! 😁
I’ve just found some more down the coast, waiting for a calm day to explore further. Thanks for commenting and I hope you get a great day out of your trip to the caves.
it’s doable mate. Review of the Aquaglide Chelan 120 HB single person inflatable kayak at caves, Berry Head, Brixham ruclips.net/video/CCTIJjlY_7Q/видео.html
No but i should, I have a Garmin. I’ll need an assistant soon as cameras, phones, Drones, batteries, different cases and such all are a blur at the moment! I think adding another process would be too much but i’ll try next time.
Your country is Ecologically healthier than the US. When I paddle board I keep asking. Where are all the birds? And the fish? Our planet is overheated. Thanks for showing this lovely video. Good choice of music not overpowering.
i’ve now been at all tide levels but the best time is mid tide, you can then go in one entrance and out the other! Be careful and check the wind and swell directions at the change of tide, this area gets really lump really fast. I use an app called Windy to help me stay safe. Hope you have a good explore.
I don't want to try this until I'm much more confident in paddle boarding. I might just give the rivers like the River Wye a go. And maybe the River Avon just up the way from Bath as well!
@@TheOptimisticAdventurer same missed the tides last wknd but hoping to get out Friday Saturday but big swell so may have to bite the bullet and go for a solo surf 🏄♀️😬
I’ve not surfed for year, grew up near Woolacombe but never tried it until I was an adult. I’m going to go bike camping while the sea is still lumpy, maybe a canal paddle if the sunrise looks promising.
What an amazing find. Also the weather was just perfect apart from the end. I don’t live anywhere near the coast so it has always been a hit and miss with the weather for me. What do you specifically look out for. Apart from the sun and temperatures which is obvious I tend to look at the wind speed. I’ve started to sort of get an idea that anything above 7/8 knots is going to be very choppy. Correct me if I’m wrong and also advise on this would be very helpful. Will save me a lot of wasted journey to the sea. Thanks.
Wind speed, wind direction, tide state, incoming swell, local geology (deep to shallow ), weather fronts, colliding pressure systems…there’s so much to consider. Get the app called Windy, do a few trips with someone familiar with the area, also the Rnli and coastguard will be happy to assist with good info. I also carry a gps beacon in case I get into trouble, worth the money.
BlueSalt Nautilus +, it’s amazing. www.bluesaltsup.co.uk mention my channel please. I’ve had mine for two years, I can’t recommend it high enough. Let me know if you get one and how you get on.
Hey dom i have been watching your vedios for a while and i was just wondering where did you get you paddle board from because they look so much fun to use
Hi Robert. I’m doing a video on this board soon, very soon. I’ve got so much love for this brand and they are built like the very top end, highest price point brands but at a far more reasonable price. Mine has taken me all over. Hit the notifications button to get a reminder when it goes live.
@@TheOptimisticAdventurer ok thanks for responding i can't wait to see the vedio on that board and yes i have got the notifications on so i can see when you do a new vedio and keep up the good work
Hi. Great video. Some of those caves look a little tight . Are they big enough to go in on a sit on kayak? It being wider and higher than a sup. Thanks 👍

You’re right, it turns nasty very quickly there for sure. I’m ex coastguard, always lived on the coast, I have a huge respect for the sea. Stay safe Jon.
Hey dom i am just wondering what beaches have you been to in devon because the one i all ways go to is putsbrough beach if you haven't i would recommend it a really nice beach and very friendly and the really nice water to paddle on your boards and rocks to climb on
Nice waves there! For paddleboarding I prefer a more rugged landscape. Lee bay to Ilfracombe one day soon would be awesome, the cliffs and little coves. Would make a great video if you fancy it.

Greetings. Canada is somewhere I’d love to visit. Soon as the sea calms down here I’ll be out filming in more caves. Thanks for the sub.

A huge crack has appeared on both sides of the cave and above on the grass. It’s likely coming down at some point soon. Go steady.
