Boy you must have really have wanted that dress or you have a lot more patience than I do. I would have unraveled it half way through your 16:00 issues. You should be so proud of yourself. You certainly have earned your knitting time without deadlines. Diane from Boston
The dress is beautiful! Definitely has put knitted dresses on my radar. I have really struggled to get gauge with the pure silk for the Cumulus tee! It’s driving me crazy, at this point I need an extra ball of yarn for the swatches lol
Oh man, what a journey! I've thought about knitting this dress and one day probably will. Thanks for your information and your trails and errors , although I feel for you in those moments of frustration!
You looked fabulous in your dress and really admire your commitment to finishing it. Just a thought about knitting it flat vs in the round - I imagine that if pure silk is anything like linen there might be an increased risk of the dress biasing and so not hanging as nicely if knitted in the round.
That’s definitely a valid point. When I do knit it in the round on other projects it has a bit of bias but I don’t think it’s enough to impact the dress too much. Definitely something to be cautious about though
I finished the Moss Dress by Sandnes Garn in time for my 50th birthday (although knee length not maxi), and I can recommend that for your next dress, if you’re looking. I modified it from worsted weight to sport weight, and it took about a month to knit. I do have the Melides pattern, and I think I would definitely knit it in the round.
I’m currently testing the 2.0 version of the Melides dress 😊 Thanks for sharing your learnings, especially regarding the finishing. I’d love for mine to be finished for my holidays at the end of July so I’ll be sure to leave enough time. I dipped my toe into Melides with the top last year… mine also came out a tad too short but I still love and wear it. Thanks for this great podcast!❤
Thanks for another lovely podcast. So nice to have that cozy knitting time back. I bought some KFO pure silk in a light pink colour and that has been a struggle for me... 😅 First I started to knit on the Strawberry fields top by Macimille its a beautiful top in a stitch pattern that looks like a braid but isn't. I cast it on with an Italian cast on then worked the twisted rib after that the top is formed with short rows and pattern at the same time. I knitted for about 10 cm when I saw that I worked the stich pattern wrong. So I frogged the hole thing. After that I cast on the cumulus tee and knitted until you join in the round but i didn't liked it so I frogged it... I don't know if it is the colour or the fabric. The swatch is knitted on 2,5 mm and both the top and cumulus tee on 3 mm. I like the fabric more with the 2,5 mm. We'll se how it turns out this time. 😂
Interesting that you’re having so many challenges with the pure silk. I love the way it works up on the 3mm needles for myself. Maybe it is the colour you’re more bothered by with it? Good luck with figuring out what to do! Maybe pure silk isn’t for everyone 😃 Also thanks for introducing me to the strawberry fields top. Going on the list!
Would you be able to do a video talking more in-depth about the braidy loop sweater such as the process any difficulties etc? I have gotten the pattern but waiting for the yarn to arrive 🙏🏼😊
When I record the finished object podcast I’ll make sure to cover this more in-depth 🤗 if you have any questions as you work on it don’t hesitate to reach out on instagram! Happy to help
speaking of stripes can we talk about how dreamy but classic the Olga Sweater is? I know some ppl are sick PK but the yarn and the pattern have me sold, going to do a purple and off white tweed stripe for mine.
I think either way of wearing your dress looks stunning! The brady loop cardigan is so much fun but I agree, if you are used to petiteknit and MFTK patterns the writing style needs some getting used to. Totally doable but had to read with a lot more concentration. Almost at splitting for sleeves 😍
Now I have checked how the Melides dress looks on curvier ladies and I must say I am tempted to knit it. Thank's for pointing out how little yarn one needs. I think 6 skeins would suffice for me.
Both melides garments r gorgeous. I am Planning on knitting the dress in our winter (November) Two questions- Would u knit the top first to familiarize one with the pattern? Second question, My body measurements r quite proportionate and would love to knit the dress in the round. Would it be possible for u to post that process on your ravelry page please?
Nice that you are going to give both a try! If you do plan to knit in the round than starting with the top is probably a good idea because the design is very similar. The main differences being where the waist line would sit (where you do your provisional cast on) for the dress and the fact that the sizing of the dress (stitches cast on and your decrease/imcrease rounds) will likely vary. Since the pattern is so tailor fit I won't be able to provide precise direction for knitting in the round but I'll put in my high level comments to Ravelry so you can reference them. Good luck!
@@Goodknits_ thank u very much for your info. I have never knit an item twice but there r many times it would be a huge benefit to familiarizing yourself with more detailed patterns!
Beautiful. I would try styling it with a few of the bottom buttons undone, especially since you worked so hard to create true ones. Little slit front or back may also hide the tugging from the chain
Hi, A time ago I bought cardi jumper after your review and today i decided on M dress just I will wait for updates after 2 test. Love your podcasts ❤❤❤ and beautiful knits …sound is much better 👍🏻
Sound quality sounds fine but I did have to turn you up compared to other RUclipsrs so you may want to check you microphone setting and see if you can increase your db or fix it in post. -3 db is usually standard for speech.
Thanks for pointing that out! I'll look into it and see if I can fix for the next video. I always use the auto fix on my sound in iMovie but maybe there is a mic setting, as you suggest
Would your row gauge be different because you knit the top in the round as opposed to flat in the dress? I know my row gauge is often slightly down. Both garments absolutely beautiful!
@@Goodknits_ I have wanted to order some of the KFO silk for a second cumulus tee but everyone seems to be out of the cream color. I’m currently knitting one in 2 strands of holst Garn coast. Not as drapey but I am hoping for a nice knit. Definitely a slower knit 😳
I've personally never steeked anything so I can't say for sure, but my immediate thought was that with the pure silk I imagine it would be difficult just based on fiber content and weight. But that is said with zero reference point or experience so take it with a grain of salt. 😉
Absolutely! Ines puts a lot of time into grading her patterns and I know she's testing them on even more sizes and body types in this current test. I had a look through Ravelry projects and there are a few versions where the knitter has a larger bust and it appears to look great both ways. Give it a go 🤗

I can be very stubborn & driven at times which I think helped me a lot on the dress 😂
In the round is usually slightly different gauge than the same stitch design worked flat ugh im so sorry you found out this way with the melides shirt
The dress is beautiful! Definitely has put knitted dresses on my radar.

Hope you are finally able to get gauge with the silk! It's definitely a tricky one

@@Goodknits_ thank you so much🤗I definitely will ask you for any help, still waiting on my yarn to come 🥲🙏🏼
Your dress is lovely! I enjoyed watching your process along the way. I've also had the realization that I NEED more cardigans in my life lol
It's definitely a need not a want 😂 You just can't go wrong with a cardigan
speaking of stripes can we talk about how dreamy but classic the Olga Sweater is? I know some ppl are sick PK but the yarn and the pattern have me sold, going to do a purple and off white tweed stripe for mine.
Love the colour combo you’re going to use!
I have just finished a peacock tee in the kfo pure silk in putty but it's held double so quick to knit .love your dress it's amazing ❤

Definitely needs a lot more concentration than I am used to but it will 100% be worth it.
Obsessed with all the Melides!!! I’m planning to make the top later this year and you’ve definitely inspired and motivated me!
Aw fantastic!! That makes me so happy

That is a very good suggestion that I hadn't considered. I did sew down the bottom portion of the band but could easily take that out if I wanted.
You could put two cables together. Chaigoo connectors are fabulous there are no snags at all.
Duh. I always forget about that as an option 🤦♀️ Thanks for the reminder

So happy to have inspired you for both projects! You are going to be a Vert Knit fan for sure
The cardigan is so beautiful and I still can’t decide if I want a braidy loop sweater or a cardigan 😌
I vote both! I think I’ll also make the sweater for winter
👍🏻

🤔 Excellent point. It most definitely could be due to swatching flat and knitting the top in the round. I will admit I never swatch in the round 👀

Would it be possible to steek the miledes dress?
