    All of your projects are beautiful! I especially love your Farnham Tee and the colours you have chosen. I would recommend Handmade by Florence's tutorial on the button band - the way she explains the button hole creation is better than any other tutorial I've come across, and a button band looks far more intimidating than it is. It's actually really meditative and beautiful to work.

    For the other loops pattern, I'm pretty sure BOR means beginning of row. Double knit button bands are not particularly complicated, they just take awhile, like I cord. You'll pick up stitches around the entire front neckline of the cardigan, and then do an Italian cast on in 1x1 rib, basically increasing the amount of stitches for your button band in the first row of your picked up stitches. Like an I cord bind off, you work double knitting back and forth into each row that you've picked up, knitting your last stitch as a knit-two together with the picked-up stitch in your neckline. I tend to be a very tight knitter, so I always cast on more stitches (horizontal Italian cast on) than the pattern asks for in my button bands. Hope that helps!

    • @Goodknits_
      @Goodknits_  Месяц назад

      But even for beginning of row it will don’t make sense here as there are 2 markers placed between stitches under the arms. Just very confusing wording 🤔
      Thanks for button band info!

    I think with yarn like Line you can definitely reshape and have it shrink back up after washing! :) also edges with stripes are hard, especially in plant based yarn that doesn't have a lot of natural bounce. You probably arent doing anything incorrectly, and hopefully it'll block out more evenly! I would recommend trying stripes in an animal fiber as well, just so you can feel and see the difference!

      I would recommend the Tone Tone sweater by Anne Ventzel! You would need to find something to hold it with but that would be gorgeeeee on you!!

    Your farnham tee colour combo looks great. I am very curious to see how the shoulders block out. I hate it when my pick ups or short rows are not super clean. But sometimes on closer inspection of the designers pictures you can also see it there. So possibly it can't be done perfectly.
    I think the colour for your Sabai top will look good. But if you are not super happy you can always knit a second 😜

    Love your Farnham Tee and colour choices. Drops Belle (which is the exact same content as Sandnes Garn Line and your Cecilia) have a beautiful petrol blue or jeans blue or Cherry red if that helps for your Sabai top, which I'm about to start too. 😍

    The sage-y green color looks really good on you! Are the cables on the cardigan worked horizontally? All the cables I've seen are worked vertically, but I want something I can incorporate into the top of a sock to go around the circumference of the upper ankle. That cabling is lovely worked at the front of the shoulders!

    • @Goodknits_
      @Goodknits_  Месяц назад

      So the one on the back is technically horizontal but that’s because you knit one side and then pick up from your provisional cast on and do the other. The arm is vertical

    I'm so glad we were able to catch up- the hours of knitting and chatting flew by and it was a real treat to meet you. I can't wait to see what you decide to make with the kauri yarn but if you find a pattern that needs more, let me know the dye lot and I'll see if I can get my hands on more. I have friends from here visiting the Netherlands next month and I can also send a little package to you by post.

    If I were you, I would make the Ilha Top by Orlane Sucche with that blue yarn you were given. Its mostly stockinette with some fun details to make it a little more interesting - a little cabling and lace detail in the yoke, a cable down the side, and a staggered rib detail on the hem. You should have more than enough yarn for it!

    Great podcast as usual! I’d love to hear your blouse 2 review sooner than your wear test show pleeaaaasssee. 😂
    I purchased the pattern several months ago and am stewing about using this pattern or another. I also appreciate your feedback because your physique provides valuable insights than others with say a smaller chest. Also, you do a good job at tweaking for a lovely fit. Thanks for at least considering - no pressure!😊

    • @Goodknits_
      @Goodknits_  Месяц назад +1

      Well...since you asked so nicely 🤗
      I think there are 2 main things I am struggling with on this blouse.
      1) The weight of it. I am not sure if this is just simply due to the specific DK yarn I picked (drops cotton merino) as maybe a different yarn would feel & wear a bit nicer. When I put the top on it just feels so heavy and bulky.
      2) That feeling of the fabric paired with the pattern itself make it feel very "crafty". When I put it on it just doesn't feel or look polished to me. I feel like I'm wearing something I would have made when I first started knitting. It's a bit hard to describe but basically it's not something I would gravitate towards when shopping in a store.
      I think if the top were in a fingering weight yarn it would help with both points but for some reason the DK weight paired with this pattern/shaping just doesn't make me feel good. I have no idea though if others have felt the same after making this. It's entirely my own opinion.

      @@Goodknits_ I get that and wonder if it is the same feeling as I have with garter stitch garments. Blouse no 2 is mostly garter with just some yarn overs, right. Garter is bulkier and more "home-made-like" than, for example, stockinette, which can look really store bought. Very interesting to hear your opinion on this! I liked the blouse no 2 at first a lot but I have noticed that my interest on it has decreased quickly as I started questioning my liking of the neckline and the wide sleeves. 😅

    • @Goodknits_
      @Goodknits_  Месяц назад

      @@annikak.837 I think you’re right. It definitely looks a lot like garter even though you do alternative double rows of knits and purl followed by some yarn overs. I think in general k am just realizing the yarn over look is also not my favourite on me.

    Hi Sheri! For the Double knitting button band I followed this tutorial from Kutovakika ruclips.net/video/wWnzbEpEKMw/видео.htmlsi=mwEe7G20j_DF5rg0 for a cardigan I made some time ago (it was a Sandnes Garn pattern). Never knitted one before but this was very easy to follow! If I remember correctly I reduced the needle size for it compared to the needle i used for the body (body in my case was on a 4.5mm, and I did the button band on a 4 mm). I hope it helps!

    Regarding your Braidey Loop Cardigan, is it possible for you to contact the designer through Ravelry? If you, as an experienced knitter, is having difficulty understanding some of the language and techniques, possibly others have not bought the pattern for these reasons. She may want to rethink and clarify.

    • @oldwitchknits-Ursula
      @oldwitchknits-Ursula Месяц назад +7

      I find your comment very unnecessary. First of all if you have nothing nice to say it is better to say nothing at all. Second, it is your opinion that it is not flattering on people. Many people feel differently. Why would you think that your definition of flattering is the one that is "correct"? Again, not necessary to make such a negative comment. Just don't knit the pattern if you don't like it.

    • @Goodknits_
      @Goodknits_  Месяц назад +3

      Ursula summed up perfectly what I was going to say. What I will add is I suggest you watch Leslie from Knit California's recent video on this topic and why it is not acceptable to comment on whether or not a pattern is "flattering" on someone: ruclips.net/video/ZV7v-tqKAJI/видео.html
