    Oh so excited to find yr podcast. Snd yes, that icord machine is called a french knitting mill, small and soooo easy to crank out 1m of icord in about a minute!!!!! :-0 i KNOW!! How cool is that. However, Ive been doing what looks exactly like an icord by knitting the the last 3 sts, putting yarn in front, slipping those 3 sts purlwise, turning then knitting across those 3 sts. Its perfect and gives a beautiful icord look!! Your blouse colour is gorgeous and goes so well with yr colouring. I've heard so many ppl say it's laborious being 4 ply so I've not made it despite having it in my purchased library. Maybe you have convinced me. I,too, get my knitting to a particular spot before abandoning it. Socks I get to gusset. Then when i go back, i get it to after the gusset when the needles are back on the sides. Mentally, it's so easy to start again wth that project. Thank you so much fir your professional, fun and informative podcast. 🙏

    Love your version of the cumulus tee. I have yarn set aside for it. Hoping to get to it later this summer. Not enough time to make all the things. I love the idea of the yarn from 1 sheep for the project. I’ve been leaning more towards 100% nsw wool in their natural colors or plant based dye for my winter garments.

    I do not use superwash yarn except for socks. Don’t want those chemicals next to my skin in garments or even in hats, glove, mitts and especially in a sweater I am going to be wearing next to skin. We get exposed to too many chemicals as it without doing it intentionally. But then I am older and have unfortunately gotten skin cancer, so try to avoid anything that can cause that again.

    • @jacqueismaking
      @jacqueismaking  3 месяца назад

      Thank you for the compliment! I am honestly starting to feel the same way about superwash, especially since I try so hard to knit with natural fibers.

    FWIW i think the cumulus with shorter sleeves looks nice and you will probably be able to wear it more often. When switching fibres from the suggested yarn I always go by the yardage called for and not the weight/number of skeins, even if it's the same fibre but a different brand. For example traditional merino/nylon sock yarns vary from between about 360-425m per 100 grams. So if you were close to needing an extra ball with the suggested yarn, changing the fibre could definitely put you over into needing another ball. I have heard some designers (I think Andrea Mowry but can't remember who else) mention also when you're holding yarn double, you sometimes won't use exactly the same amount of each fibre as one might have a bit more stretch than the other.

    • @jacqueismaking
      @jacqueismaking  3 месяца назад

      The stretch comment is so helpful here!!! I always find that funny when it’s same yardage but one is longer! Thanks for these tips 😊

    • @jacqueismaking
      @jacqueismaking  3 месяца назад +1

      I love the blue top too 😊 YES, I totally meant to correct that on the screen, silk is totally not a plant fiber! I believe it is considered an animal, or “protein” fiber!

    I wish I could wear untreated wool. Even merino bothers me. Superwash can be OK sometimes but I am really glad we have plant fiber yarns available. I find with wooden needles plant fibers are not as bad on your hands.

    • @jacqueismaking
      @jacqueismaking  3 месяца назад

      Ah, I’m so sorry it bothers you, that is truly so hard especially with it being such a large part of the market! I hope you find some plant fibers you really love! That’s good to know about the wooden needles, I should try that.
