I just want to point out that I didn’t even noticed the “voice crack”. I was not distracted at all. There was so much emotion and that’s what music is for most. Absolutely beautiful! 💕🎶

I heard it but its understandable if she was feeling really emotional, even the best singers can't sing well if they are holding in tears. Plus, she covered it up really well with the falsetto right after so it wasnt obvious at all!
Someone IMO voice cracks for the song and SOUND good.

Her thing isn’t just being “quirky”. She can be happy, silly, deep, angry, sad, whatever she wants to be. We’re not set into one style or emotion. Besides, I always found the two songs held a similar theme. Creating something beautiful out of something that hurts.

I could respect Howie if his criticism was constructive, but he was just plain out rude, he didn’t help her in any way (and when judging he is meant to). Her song was heartfelt, true to her, and you could hear the raw emotion in her voice. That is authentic TALENT! He claims the quirky songs are what he liked but he failed to see what the song with the hate comments actually represented, it means to keep moving forward when you get thrown obstacles, not to by “quirky”. Not only did Howies lack of ethical reasoning upset me, but when he said “this was nothing” infuriated me. He insulted a beautifully written song, with so much meaning behind it. If he can’t see the talent this girl posses he’s crazy! I have lost my respect for Howie, because he has lost sight of the meaning of the show. Being funny and quirky aren’t everything and he seems to have forgotten that. If you ask me, I feel his judging career should come to an end. (Just an opinion of mine)

Shes not a good singer though, at least for this genre of music. Dynamics were not there, she has way too much breathe in he voice, melody was simple and uninventive. Plain and simple, there were alot more better singers on the show
This is the thing i hate like the way people try to put someone in boxes...she sang that hate comment song once and everyone's branded her as the hate comments singer and so they don't like her branching out and singing beautiful, heartfelt songs that speak about her life experience and the things she's been through. No artist should be made to do just one thing....in fact artists who can do both fun and quirky songs as well as deep, meaningful and emotional songs are the best because that just shows how diverse their talent is

Howie really tears down performers who touch on the more “serious” and emotional aspect when singing, but cares and loves only comedic performances. Something that excites him..

Simon is by far the best judge on the show.
Except he gushed over Brian Justin Crum that time over his rendition of _Creep,_ which was definitely not a stand-up comedy set with a backing track, like what he seems to want out of this performance. Plus, rudeness to her tribute to a dead relative? Or to her sex? At some point, this all smacks of some arbitrary roleplay by the judges. "Reality TV" -- right!
i have personally been a fan of madilyn for years now and when howie said her song wasn’t anything physically brought me to tears. you could see how hard that was for her to sing and he still chose to bring her down. man that guy gets on my nerves.
I think everything she does sounds the same 🤷🏻♀️ after years of being subscribed to her (since she had short hair and the shaved side) I unsubscribed because (to me) every cover and every song sounds the same. I think she’s talented but idk 🤷🏻♀️ I guess it’s not for me anymore. So I kinda feel the same way but he was SO RUDE. You can say you don’t really like something without being so disrespectful

People are _definetly_ going through a lot worst stuff then hate comments, but Mad was in no way shape or form asking for pity, nor was she implying that she deserves any. I can't believe how many people think Madylin was trying to gain any pity. She didn't take the hate comments seriously you know, _that's why she made it into a fun song._ In fact, she was doing that on her channel for a while.
When everyone was encouraging her to sing an original song instead of a cover, she decided to sing the song that was a HIT on RUclips and that was "Red Ribbon." I love it, my family loves it, and it's honestly one of her best original songs. It happened to mean a lot to her because it was dedicated to her grandmother, which is why the song itself is so good, because it was written with heart and passion! She ain't getting any pity fam. Howie was unnecessarily rude. His comments about her as a "girl, lady woman... person," was so freaking awkward (and this isn't the first semi finalist he was awkward with), and he said this song was "nothing." Sure, even I don't think Mad was the best singer in the semi finals but he DEFINETELY could've worded it better.
Howies reaction after she sang: "Im incredibly disapointed." Me after howie said that: 'BOY do u even know how to sing!?"

Red ribbon is an amazing song and madilyn sang it amazingly, it really showed off her vocals and she sounded absolutely phenomenal. Her voice is beautiful, talented and shows her emotions. Howie was plain out rude, I get everyone had their own opinion but he did not need to say it like that. Simon had a great reaction and so did Heidi. Howie was basically just saying like he did in the quarter finals that he only rlly liked her hate comments song, but yet the public kept voting for her because she had an amazing voice, and Simon has supported her from day 1, and he is the toughest egg to crack as people like to say.

You could tell how emotional she was during the entire performance and its really touching to hear this beautiful of a song with this beautiful of a concept.

Imagine losing a loved one and singing a song about them just for someone to not just criticize you, but tell you that your performance meant nothing and that your just lucky to be in the semifinals. Btw I loved the performance, and just because her voice crack, doesn’t make it any less beautiful. Mistakes happen. It’s not going to be perfect. I agree with Howie, which is rare! My opinion is she needed something to stop the slippage of TV audience, so she pulled out the pity card, like many contestants do! Madilyn Baily got away from why the judges picked her in the first place. I guess if you don't want to join the pity party, that makes you,as Simon would say, " an ASS"!
@@macmclaughlin6200 I follow her outside of the show and when she wrote and published this song a couple years ago I was FLOORED. it’s an incredible song (music video is great too). I would’ve been disappointed if she didn’t perform it! So I don’t think she’s trying to garner sympathy. She’s playing one of her biggest hits which she also wrote. It would be strange to not say anything about what the song is about. And now we all got to see pictures of her beautiful grandma. No problem with any of this except for howie’s irrational response. Not sure why he’s speaking angrily haha if he’s disappointed, he can still acknowledge some good aspect of the performance.

I also have followed Madiyn for YEARS on youtube and know that this song isn't a recent "pity party" attempt, but rather, her showing exactly the type of artist she is and wants to be. she's so much more than a hate comments singer and I'm so glad she sung Red ribbon as more than one of us 'fans' wanted her to because it's a powerful emotional song, it's raw... and it's real. Nothing put on or fake about it as a pity party. she felt every word of that performance, you could tell. and Howie saying it was "nothing" was a pretty heartless and also, untrue thing to say when it was many things... maybe not what he wanted but still very FAR from nothing. How far would she have gone if she had just continued on with that? it's only a novelty once... I also feel her last song, which she never got to do on got Talent, pulled it all together an that song can be seen on her channel. We all know that shows like this are for the most part, staged and manipulated by the producers to create tension and get more views. It's very likely the judges are told what to say, even when it's at the expense of the contestant. Madilyn more than proved her worth by handling it all so well. Many of her youtube fans encouraged her to do this song as we all love it.

That angers me so deeply as a singer that Howie said something like that!!! 😡🤬 I agree with Heidi and Simon! Being a singer I KNOW how hard it is to sing through a song like that when your emotions are going crazy! I would like to see him get up there and sing better than that. And he says he likes her as a singer and that’s just unethical because he was saying all those rude things. That song meant so much to her and she worked her tail of the o be on that show and she deserved it! He should frankly be ashamed! 😡

Why is Howie still even a judge? This show is just bad because of him. He used to be a comedian, and he said her last song was quirky and funny… um hello not all of her songs are meant to be funny. He doesn’t know when there is a time to be serious and just supporting her for being able to write, and sing this song after what she’s been through, instead of bashing her and down talking her
Yea I agree, I’m going to vote for her because that song help me realize that I wasn’t alone and somebody else has had problems and got through it, it bothered me that Howie said that I think he could have worded it a little nicer and actually gave constructive criticism
The problem is that so many people on the show expect to move forward because they have a sad story

i really dislike him now honestly, he used to be one of my favorite judges but i’m really leaning toward Simon now, he’s just so real and not into bringing down other people especially her singing this song that means so much to her. even simon has made mistakes and apologizes for it, howie doesn’t. he could have at least worded it nicely and just give constructed criticism. he was literally putting her down and that was an ass move. I know he’s a judge, but he didn’t need to be that rude. Madilyn has a beautiful and soulful voice and Howie needs to accept that she’s not gonna sing “funny and quirky” songs all the time /: this song was beautiful and touching.

Ive supported Madilyn for years and i remember memorizing all the lyrics to that song when it first came out. I think for such a deep song about her grandma it was really rude of howie to say "it was nothing" he couldve said there was a few voice cracks not that this extremely personal song was "nothing" and that she was lucky anyone even voted for her.

For me it seemed like he said girl then realized it can be patronizing so changed it and then realized that people (including Madison) might get offended by him assuming she identifies as female so changed it to person. I don’t think it was to do with her as an individual per se but more to do with what’s happening at the moment with gender stereotyping and people from different generations trying to get on track with which terms are acceptable now and which aren’t.

The judges (other then Simon) have to realize she is not someone who makes silly songs and then sings them she is a beautiful singer with an amazing voice and even so much more then that but at least Heidi realised that by now

Howie's comment was so cruel. Especially when this song is emotional. I love how she doesn't always perform the hate comments cuz she's doing something different each time. But Simon's comeback was unbelievable. He is the master when it comes to roasting people on these shows.
The thing is, judges always say that singing contestants should show their vulnerability, yet when she shows her vulnerability howie is being rude about it and basically telling her to be someone she’s not.

Simon really became better recently, he was ‘the mean judge’ once so he still has that sort of thing circulating around him, but he’s actually really nice. The perfect judge! Howie crossed a line, but Simon knows when to stop, and that’s why he’s the best judge
Honestly what he said was just cruel. He liked her first song for being funny and not her amazing vocals. This season especially, he's so narrow minded with what a singer can and can't do - he has a similar attitude to Tory Vagasy. The fact that Madilyn can write both funny and powerful songs is impressive alone
