    • @andrewmichaellee
      @andrewmichaellee 2 года назад +19

      Tried to hurt and destroy his career from beginning to end. VY saved his job twice after two horrid starts from Kerry Collins, after which VY came in and turn them into winning teams. Fisher was lifelong .500 coach and should have been out of the league a decade earlier than he was. VY was a winner and would have thrived longer under a better organization. League history "spin" paints him as a troubled player as it conveniently fits the Fisher narrative, but anyone who actually watched football in the mid-2000s knows the truth.

      I remember they had the offensive coordinator from USC at this time Norm Chow and they actually wanted Matt Leinart or another player. Matt Leinart had the worst arm strength I had ever seen. VY was a much better pro prospect but the coaches just had it out for him because the coach was mad the GM made him take VY. Fisher was so mad about the GM wanting VY that he immediately had it out to destroy the dudes career lol

    Vince Young had the word clutch written in his heart, Too bad that his coaching staff was a shit. Fisher did everything possible to tear him down and destroy him, but VY still left TEN with a 30-17 record. Classic case of a great player ending up in the wrong organization with a garbage coach. Loved watching him play and make so many clutch plays over and over. Admittedly, he didn't handle things the right way once Fisher was clearly trying to subvert him, but that type of coaching behavior wouldn't pass muster in 2023. After Young was pushed out, Fisher would go to deliver 5 more losing seasons as a coach before he was thankfully out of the league. Young would have gotten much more of a chance on a different squad and/or later on in the league.

      @thecensoredmuscle563 3 года назад +15

      @@BigSam63 considering that he had a coach who hated him and intentionally tried to ruin his career since the moment he was drafted. I would say Young did fine. The fact that he won so many games because he would ignore fishers game plan in the 4th quarters to catch up and win. Shows that he has an amazing work ethic, and mentality about as strong as it can get. Just amazing that he was able to do what he did, succeed at winning on a mostly trash team, with a coach trying to bench him and ruin his career since day 1. Funny enough the best winning percentage qb, Fisher has ever had. And it was the one qb Fisher was intentionally trying to lose and get benched.

    Vince had the misfortune of getting to the league just a few years too early. They didn’t know what to do with him. The offense he ran at Texas was what ended up becoming all the rage in the league just after he’d been run out of it. It was seen as kind of a gimmick scheme when he first arrived. If he’d been drafted in 2016 instead of 2006, he’d have absolutely lived up to the hype. Lamar Jackson is essentially who Vince Young beta tested for.
