  • One of the greatest college football quarterbacks of all-time and this guy didn’t even win the heisman. The Rose Bowl king, and the only player to single handedly dominate one of the best college teams of all-time (USC 2005).

      I think you’re confused by what a run pass option is. It has nothing to do with a QB running the ball.

    • @RalixBlaster7
      @RalixBlaster7 2 года назад +4

      @@MrRyan-wu4jx it does in the college game since lineman can go three yards down field. Also the rpo was modded for the pro game so non mobile qbs could use them. Rpos have qb run elements if the qb running the offense is mobile. Rpos became popular in the NFL when chip Kelly was using them with Nick foles.

    Vince was ahead of his time. If you watch his game today with modern eyes you see elements of Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Russell Wilson. Those guy's talents and capabilities are highlighted and appreciated by their teams. They are built in to the systems in which they play. When Vince entered the NFL they were extremely resistant to his style of play. Norm Chow and Jeff Fisher didn't want him. They wanted Leinart. They never really created an offense that featured his skills. They did the same things that Mack Brown was doing to frustrate Vince early in his college career.
    It's remarkable that VY was still able to win Rookie of the Year and make it to 2x Pro Bowls in his career considering how much he was handcuffed and restricted. If he had gone to a team with a more innovative forward thinking and compassionate coach...he could have thrived and been an all time great.
    Imagine Vince with Andy Reid.

    Great great college player, unbelievable that he did not win Heisman. Even though he didn't start his freshman year, it's hard to believe he was 1-2 vs OU. Made my Granddad really proud to be a Longhorns fan and probably extended Mack Brown's career at Texas by 6 years.

      What playbook and read defenses? The receivers were trash and dropped alot. Fisher was intentionally trying to make Young fail. If it was not for Young going away from Fishers game plan in the fourth quarters and doing what Vince Young does. He would not have won most of the time. For a young qb to win by his own play against the coach who was trying to make him lose to get him benched. That's outstanding, in fact freakishly amazing.

      Also 1-1 vs ou when playing. But his sophmore year, they changed the play calling 2 weeks after they played OU. That was when Young became Young and never lost a college game against and dominated the rest of season. Then dominated Young's junior year.

Even crazier when you realize that Young has the best winning percentage for a qb that Fisher ever coached despite Young being the one qb Fisher intentionally was trying to get to lose so that the owner will not get mad at Fisher for benching him. So many times I thought ‘well, they've got him bottled up/stopped‘ and he just glides through/between tacklers! ... not juking/knocking over (though could do that too) like a RB... just stepping through a gap and... gone. And the sidearm, 3/4 delivery? Not textbook form, but the results were beautiful. (So who cares?!!) Jeff Fisher’s a total jackass for trying to make VY fit his ‘system’. If he‘d had sense enough to recognize a phenomenal talent, and build a team/scheme around that, VY could have had a long, incredibly successful career in the NFL.
    I am sooo glad Sarkisian seems to ‘get it‘... don‘t leave incredible talent sitting on the bench! Find a way to get ‘em in the game! Hook ‘Em! 🤘
