Vince Young was the most notable example of a draft “bust” created as a result of an organization’s incompetence.
He wasn’t that much of a bust when you think about it. He fared better than David Carr and Jamarcus russell
@@mariosnum1fan that's what JahNuhThunDeeTheOneAndOnly is saying. I agree Vince was on a bad titans team with a out of touch head coach. If Young was on a better team or playing in today's NFL he'd be a legend.
@@ghostintheshell3576 yah, especially with his skillset.
Not a bust at all. I think he never got to reach his full ceiling and think some of that was team and some was on him.
@@ghostintheshell3576 he had a winning record as a starter and was doing good when he did play Jeff fisher just treated him like dirt cuz he never wanted him
Vince Young seeing Matt Leinart in his schedule:
It's time to shine at 4th quarter baby
I remember this being a challenge in “madden moments” the next year lol
2006 Rose Bowl really the peak of college football
When auburn owned Alabama 7 in a row
@@ericpackers1700 how many times they beat bama since this game aired … 3 times?
I feel like VY would have flourished in this era now. His coaching staff never embraced his naturally playing style.
Should’ve never went to philly went they had vick, shouldve went to seattle arizona houston maybe sf or washington at that time. being a backup ruined his shine
Little did we know, Ken whisenhunt would become the titans head coach
Vince young and co had 9. NINE. Game winning / tying drives up to this point in his 4 year career. There are 10+ year veterans with half that.
Guess who had the most from 2006-2017???
@@robogreek3157Brady? Who is it lol
Two things to know about this drive. 1, Chris Johnson didn't once touch the ball during this drive. 2, the Titans didn't call a timeout until it was 3rd and goal (right after Vince Young got tackled trying to run on 2nd and goal). That's what impressed me the most about this drive: Your homerun hitter doesn't get a catch AND you managed the clock perfectly.
Goes to show how good that team was even WITHOUT their 2,000 yard rusher. Would’ve legitimately been a Super Bowl contender if it wasn’t for the qb and coach clashing heads
I still insist that Vince Young could have had a better career in the NFL if he had a coach that actually wanted him. Yes, he wasn't perfect on or off the field, but he had a lot of talent, and his head coach wanted to dump him every chance they could.
Matt lienarts offensive coordinator norm chow didn't want him and he coached him at USC remember?!?
If Vince young didn't waste his time at the cheesecake factory putting on weight
@@pp3k3jamail But the Cheesecake Factory is good though. 😂 😂 😂
Jared Cook is still an active NFL player!
One of my favorite endings of all time! VY was an underrated QB. He would have been elite today!
They converted 3 4th downs in the same drive. Some teams don't convert 3 4th downs in an entire season. Absolutely amazing.
I wish Youngs career didn't end so early
Loved the cheesecake factory
One of the greatest late 4th quarter comebacks in NFL history. Vince Young was amazing, unfortunately Vince and Jeb Fisher didn't see eye to eye,if things were different Vince Young would've led Tennessee Titans to Success plus it didn't help they had Karey Collins for a Starting QB battle
How's Jeb Fisher 🤣🤣
@@ghostintheshell3576 Jeb Fisher was a good coach like late 2000s and late 2010s,he should've retired 😂
He ruined Vince young idk why he even drafted him he hated him
@@MightyDuckofAnaheim200203 excuse me I meant to say is who is Jeb fisher
Kenny Britt caught the first and final catch of the drive.
Kenny Britt was a good WR2 his whole career. 7 seasons with more than 500yards receiving.
@@barbarrrossa5730 true i still remember him he was never quite a number 1 but always a solid number 2
He was solid.
Kenny Britt was a special player, I love watching these games and seeing the old studs doing their thing
Think about this, if Vince Young have ran this 2-minute drill more consistently from the pocket, then he would have been one of the most exciting players in the league at that time
You see his record as a starter?
Think about this:
What if his coach had more confidence in him?
He was one of the most exciting players, had to be there
Fisher forced him to hand off first and second down then pass from pocket on third
Vince Young would've been great with a better team. Both in 2006 (0-5) and 2009 (0-6) Tennessee had disastrous starts, but Vince would have these crazy comebacks late in the season to put them in playoff contention.
Vince lacked any weapons on the outside which forced him to try to do too much himself. It didn't help he was always on a short leash with Jeff Fisher, who never really believed in him.
Vince was sitting behind old drunk Kerry Collins those years and only came in after he lost those games and Vy immediately made them win
I’m sorry, but am I the only one who heard “the Cardinals have to go 99 yards” at the beginning?
You are correct. Made me laugh.
Yeah, I heard that, too. I laughed when the announcer said that because the Tennessee Titans had the ball.
There was only one person more upset by this than the Cardinals at the time.
It was Jeff Fisher. That was how bad things were between him and Vince Young.
Somehow, someway, Jeff Fisher is getting to 8-8.
This was the first football game I’ve ever been to when I was a kid. Went to with just my dad and I. There was a guy behind me who kept yelling to Vince Young “you can’t spell victory without VY” over and over again during this whole drive lol. I’ll never forget this game.
Vince was a beast back in the days
I was at this game and will never forget this drive. We loved Vince and I wish things went differently. Also, Kenny Britt was one of the most talented wide receivers Ive ever seen and his drop off was brutal to watch
Being at this game and watching this drive was AMAZING and the word amazing doesn’t even do it’s justice. UNBELIEVABLE game and drive to win the game. #TitanUp ⚔️
Na we need the comeback against the giants
Watching this again makes me wish that Vince Young and Chris Johnson at least got themselves a Super Bowl ring
Phoenix Cardinals Against Houston Oilers Last Meeting In 1988 Thanks For Uploading
I remember watching this live, I was so hype when VY threw that TD. I was hoping this was the turning point. Turned out to be the last great moment of his career.
Had better year in 2010 actually but they hated him so much
Because of fisher
0-6, latter loss being 59-0, turned into 8-8. The titans had a few seasons like that in the mid to late 2000's, so interesting!
Vince against the Texans need to be shown next!!
I remember being at this game. My buddy from HS was the running back for the Cardinals (LaRod Stephens Howling, we're both from western PA) and i was there with his family. In a sea of red, i was the only one in a Titans jersey cheering at the end lol
Still can't believe Jeff Fisher didn't want the GREATEST college player of all time. Titans really screwed up his career.
WHAT A COMEBACK
I remember watching this game when I was 7. I was so damn pissed when they scored the game winner.
The Cardinals didn't have to go 99 yards though
Vince had the clutch gene his entire football career.
The following year at week 10 Vy led all the nfl in. Qbr , passer rating , and long ball passing and was still benched by fisher and never given much of a chance again
He should've won the Heisman at Texas but at the end of the day they won the championship. Too bad fisher didn't see Young as the man to build around.
The option between him and cj was deadly just didn't utilize it enough
Ohh I remember watching a fan highlight of this drive years ago
Best Video 📸 Ever NFL Throwback 🏈
i was just thinking about this game today. what a coincidence.
Both these men would be stellar backups any generation crazy how bad the qbs are now a days
Leinart wouldn't even make a practice squad. I don't know what happened to the guy past his 5th season at USC (yes, he was a 5th year-eligible senior) but he couldn't get nearly as much done in the pros.
I think a lot of people look back on Vince's career like he was done wrong or could have had a better run when in reality he struggled to hit double digit TD's as a passer every season he was able to start and only had 2 seasons where he didn't throw more INT's than TD's. I think he was destined to be a backup with that kind of inconsistency. To me he was a slightly better NFL Tim Tebow.
Young is probably the best bad QB in NFL history
Because he was never allowed to pass much
If only the titans fired Fisher (who was long overdue to be fired) and kept Floyd Reese, the GM who gave the titans hall of famers, all-pros, and pro bowlers.
I like the mascots reaction
12:40 Gee thanks. You know, I'm on the edge of my seat already with this game, just go ahead and remind me that my team's blown it on bigger stages before. Feels good, man.
Yeah... and mine will always have one yard short to talk about.
I remember this game. Kenny brit catching a pass in the back of the end zone. He could have been great.
Titans sent fisher packing and kept Vince. Get him a coach who has confidence in him
TITANUP ⚔️
Remember people hated Vince so much after this game the big story was “why did vince celebrate by himself “ etc
Vince was the best I’ve ever seen but was also held down purposely by his own coaches and media
With better coaching and vince given room to develop the titans would have been in the afc championship game in 08/09
Vince Young lucky as he'll this game
Fisher was at fault for failing Young. Waste of talent that could have been great.
Crazy to think that the Titans almost made the playoffs after starting 0-6 that year.
ありがとうございました😊
Can someone help me with that Play-by-play guy?
Extreme nostalgia hit just hearing that voice
Sam Rosen
Dick stockton
Where's the HD broadcast?
miss VY. wish he could’ve got a fair shake
I never knew Tom Selleck used to be the coach of the Titans
Was there
15:01 Washington Football Team president Jason Wright
I miss VY
Go look up VY career record
They only time they let Vince get easy plays like Brady got his whole Career
This would be better if field goal then pick-six
Still have my ticket from this game. 11 year old me went wild when they won
He cursed my eagles dream team bullshit
he was not meant to be there, that was vicks team young shouldve been on a different team
9 consecutive starts win bc Kerry Collins got the starts lol fisher is a clown demon
We were a poverty franchise till jon robinson took over😂
RIP Mike Hemidenger one of the best OC and everybody keep saying it was Fisher that cost VY,it was both of them..Vince wasn’t use to criticism,do y’all realize just the year before that team went 13-3 w/o VY and Kerry Collins at QB
Titans Will win super bowl 58 undefeated titanup 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh cardinals… poverty franchise but I love them
