The 2ZZ is awesome in this car. Not an easy swap but worth it in my opinion! No external mic. The whole thing is recorded on a iPhone. The engine screams LOUD in the cabin! Thanks for the reply!
@@alsoleak7196 In what car are you swapping the 2zz? I have a corolla intake manifold which bend upwards like you might know. In the AE92 there is not much room for a CAI with the battery in its original location. I routed the intake pipe to the back of the engine with a cold air feed to the back of the engine also. That's why it is ultra loud inside. ITB setup would be awesome but you might not have the same loudness. (at least not in the cabin)
@@EnginesRMymusic I'm swapping a 2zz in my AE92 GTI. Yeah there's not much room for a proper routing with the battery in the bay. My 2zz comes from a Celica. I will have to cut the battery support anyway because the shift mechanism is on the opposite side on the Celica gearbox, and it hits the battery support. How did you mount the engine on the timing side ? I'm curious. Apparently you can just flip the original 4age mount and make a plate, is that what you did ?
@@alsoleak7196 A real GTI, thats awesome! The 2zz is a good and quite unique choice. I can confirm that you have to cut the battery support bracket in order for a Celica box to fit. Routing the Celica shift cables is not an easy task with the header in place, some tight bends you have to make.. There is a way to get the battery under the hood but its pretty tight. The Celica ecu and wiring are under the hood also and even that will fit i can confirm. My AE92 got an 2E-E from the factory so i cut the whole mount out of the chassis and welded the 2zz corolla mount back to the chassis. Pretty easy in my case. Most trouble came from the rear gearbox mount. quite a bit of custom work needed. How far in the process are you with the swap?
Lol your vid is going viral. I own a zz230 celica that originally had the 1zzfe but I swapped to the 2zzge, have it for years now, it's just too much fun. Car is incredibly stable and controllable, always understeer which is just instantly solved by releasing the throttle, can ride that understeer edge through the corners
I'd highly recommend getting a front strut brace. It'll get rid of the understeer and body roll, making it stick to the bends. It's honestly a night and day difference for a simple mod.
Sounds great. Its unfortunate that AE cars are all so hard to find in the UK. The only ones still around are Japan import or the odd (very very rare) UK spec AE86s.
If you are interested in just the 2zz, then we in the UK are lucky enough to get lotus, corolla t-sport and the latest gen celica (make sure it's the 2zz). The 2zz didn't come with this generation corolla but had the also nice 4age iirc. But yeah, an 86 in the UK would be stupid money, as well as the additional age-related stuff, and honestly speaking, I'm not sure there are many similar newer NA cars, even within the AE range, which had a FR layout. I had a 2zz mr2 (mk3 frog) swap, but now I have an fn2. I honestly think the 2zz is the best sounding 4 cylinder.
That thing loves redline I swear, Toyota and Yamaha did really well with this engine. 1zzs go alright as well for economy engines, great torque on the corolla sedans
