The only proof someone “jacked” his material is a slightly similar concept in once clip of a show. He accused Lil Dicky of stealing from him multiple times. If he’s accusing someone of stealing his bits maybe he should actually prove it.
I really think that people are stealing Theo’s jokes left and right. And they are getting away with it bc he doesn’t have the legal team these guys do.

Yeah I also like how he shows a clip and them basically repeats just exactly what we just watched and gives us "context" as if we can't tell wtf is going on. But yes I love how he knows how Theo feels.

I think Theo was extremely embarrassed/irritated that she called him out on the shameless thing and he deflected. You can see it in his movement afterwards....Theo is extremely uncomfortable, fidgeting, messing with the paper and the mic constantly and he doesn't list any specifics, which is something he doesn't normally do when trying to prove a point....he normally goes into details/speaks faster and more clearly because he doesn't like the implication of being wrong/a liar. This time he just threw out the little Dicky thing and then fidgeted uncomfortably. I think that girl really threw him off because he isn't used to people just being outright nasty/aggressive like her.
Youre Probably right. I really dont like this interview… its not very well done and Theo isn’t givin any love at all and nobody is tossin any joke layups or nothing. Just bad
While I think all of that is true, it didn't cause him to say something he didn't mean, but rather it caused him to say something he actually felt but normally would have kept to himself to avoid blasting someone publicly. So you basically got a real moment of truth from Theo because of it/her.
I find this channel much more entertaining than some of the 'comedians' that you cover, I had no idea the comedy scene was filled with such drama, great work man.
Agreed...and think the name of the girl is Tommy Lauren or something...she was was on Theo pod cast that was awkward as hell...along with the bill burr ...awkward as hell😂😂
She was definitely trying to get to him. Passive aggressive. And it worked. He doesn’t steal jokes for certain because no one else can come up with that stuff. I don’t think he actually cares about people stealing his jokes. He was just thrown off.
Found your channel a few months ago and I’ve watched every video, I find myself checking the channel out every night when decompressing for bed. I never knew there was so much drama in the comedy world and I’m super invested now. Lol Keep up the good work!
Chile this ain’t nothing new 😂 every single era of comedians stayed tussling with each other. It’s been way worse than this. You got to watch some old documentaries! & some of them back then came from the streets Fr not for fake like most these new comedians so you already know what it was! 😂 In fact, here recently, since the Carlos Mencia thing up until the Schaub thing, the comedy community was probably the quietest it’s ever been as far as comedians being at each other. For the time between the Carlos Mencia issue & Brendan Schaub darkening comedy’s door, it seemed like most comedians were cool with each other for a little bit. Not to say there hasn’t been any drama but I mean comedian vs comedian drama specifically, not the Chris Delia, Dane Cook, Bryan Callen type sht.
I literally was trying to find something to watch while I ate dinner and I'm like "Man, youtube is dead tonight!" Then boom! You post a video. Let's gooooo!
Theo is a genuine guy and doesn't have anything to gain by claiming they're taking his material if he doesn't sense more instances. And with the wooden shirt thing, where there's smoke there's fire.
Theo is one of only a few people in Hollywood (or famous, w/e) that I believe when he says something like this. The guy is genuine and just down to earth, if he says someone stole his shit i guarantee he isn't lying.
I feel Theo is genuine, but im also leery when someone makes the claim, "my material gets stolen all the time", like, im sure he really feels that way, it's just......he's funny. He's not the funniest motherfucker on the face of the planet though, you know? Lol. It just seems unlikely that his material gets stolen as often as he seems to think.
The thing is majority of Theos bits are obviously made up/over exaggerated stories but the thing is majority of comedians/fans know this. So to call him out on it on a podcast is in a way taking shots at him just in a passive aggressive way.
Yeah I think there’s a big difference between “lying” and telling a comedic story because you’re a comedian. It’s his whole thing. I always find it weird when people act like he’s a compulsive liar or something as opposed to just doing his job, lol.
Theo's stand up material is different than his podcast material so if your not familiar with all of his stad up content you probably wont recognize the stolen jokes

"lIL dICkY" has always been a no talent hack. Theo Von is effortlessly funny, Dil Licky can't do shit without an army of editors and producers to curate everything. He's the definition of a no talent industry plant.
My friend went to a Theo Von show and he claims that Theo kicked a few people out, because they were laughing "too much." My friend said he left the show because of that and now despises Theo.
When she said ‘that’s on shameless’, something weird happened with Theo. They were going to go right past it & he stopped to make sure everyone knew he didn’t steal material from the show. Then instantly deflects & puts the blame on Dave for stealing. That girl either hit a nerve or is really onto something here 😅 I’ve never seen Theo like that before.
Probably a natural trait of comedians. No one wants to be the next Amy Schumer or Carlos Mencia. Somebody clips it on the internet and next thing you know. Theo is being accused of stealing jokes. Just my take.
Exactly my thoughts, like I get getting a little defensive about being accused of stealing jokes but to immediately throw someone else under the bus for something that doesn’t seem to have a lot of evidence is weird
people disbelieve Theo’s own life stories, so if his life stories are also being stolen, I could understand getting really annoyed. Like ‘you’re a liar and also I’m stealing your story’
Let's say they took Theo's idea. They could have called him and said, "We want to do this. Can we give you a couple grand and a writing credit on the episode?" and he probably would have been down for it.
Me too! In 01 my bf & I sold weed. His car got stolen TWICE. 1st time we found it by chance going to pick up. He had his spare so he got in and we drove away. The 2nd time we knew where to go...but we opted not to bc he wanted a new car w the insurance at that point! 🤷🏼♀️ it's crazy..but not that uncommon apparently!
Same thing happened a couple times when I worked at a used car lot people would break in and steal a car or truck and we would eventually find it and just take it back with the key
Yes, this isn't all that unusual of a circumstance. I had a friend who was selling his car. A guy came test drive it and never came back. A week later, my friend saw his car parked in front of a house about half a mile away, went home and got his extra key and drove it home. Car thieves aren't renown for their high IQs.
Here's an idea, let's see if any other thing on television used ridiculous wooden shirt premises before Theo told the story multiple times on huge public platforms
Dude Theo von did NOT make up the idea of the wooden shirt... i have seen those funny looking wooden shirts going back 20 years. You can pull them up from all over the world. Someone clearly told this fool that they are stealing his material. But I just saw Dave basically refute it and say 'no' that bit came from this other bit.
The "wooden shirt" premise could've been stumbled upon without Theo to be honest... Someone made an offhanded comment regarding a wooden shirt about a guy I used to work with that wore wooden clogs. And that predated Theo and Dave. It was the 1st thing i thought of when I heard Theo say it on Rogan, and when I saw the episode of Dave.
Theo is a real one.. If he says something I will believe him until otherwise. But, he's never pulled anything liked straight up lying about someone like Schaub or some one like that so I have no reason not to take him at his word.
I think he said this out of spite. If youre gonna throw shade you gotta tell people what youre talking about. The fact that the internet can only seem to come up with one example thats not even a stronge example....he moved on so fast because he knew he messed up by saying that.
I think he moved past it because he doesn't want the drama or anything to affect him selling out every show like he's doing. It's not worth going to court or making a huge deal out of it. He wanted to make it known so people know he sees what they are doing and move on.
@stevenroyer8731 again, if the people of the internet can only come up with this one example I can't be on Theos side. I like Theo don't get this twisted as hate, I just think he slipped up and said something without thinking (classic Theo).
The awkward moment was an example of how Theo's natural urge to respond with a joke can misfire. Felt like he stuck to that bit for too long and made her lock up.
I don’t think it was a misfire, if anything I think when she kept on acting nonchalant about how the way the sentence came off as is what made him keep on joking about it cause it didn’t sound genuine when she said “I hope you find one” at all
These guys all have some weird ego thing with each other. I do recall Santino saying he wouldn’t trust Theo if he needed a hand, like implying that Theo is out for himself only. That was on bad friends
Theo was on the BFF podcast and was being disrespected by bri chickenfry and reached and said lil dicky steals jokes… he played himself for even going on that podcast to begin with.
@@boxychubbo6922Bec the dumb blonde who doesn't even take the time to learn about the guest just blurts out his material was also a shameless episode not to mention her tone and demeanor we just super bitchy
I feel like Dave built off the wooden shirt bit, like the dad made the first shirt, than expanded into a store kinda thing. I know I do that sometimes, like I will hear a bit and then build from it in a new direction. I wouldn't say it was like stolen or anything.
Look at Andrew santino’s resume. He has written tons of shows but still is a no name celebrity that isn’t well known for writing. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wrote down some of Bobby’s jokes or anyone he has interacted with.
That stolen car story has actually happened to me too. So not so uncommon. My moms car got stolen, got the heads up ppl seen it i went with the keys and got it back.
Theo doesn't have a malicious bone in his body and is exactly the kind of person the industry like to F over. If he say someone stole his shit it's almost certainly true.
I've lived in New Orleans for 8 years and I know two people that have had to steal their car back. Literally happens all the time here. Crime is so bad. It's pathetic to think something so universal would be used to accuse someone. Also, I came up with a phone while the keys jingle 15 years ago. My friends would get drunk and Make fun of me and sing all kinds of remixes to that, but you don't see me accusing Sandler of stealing my content.
Technically he said there was a lot of borrowed content. He didn't say it was necessarily all his. Maybe he's talked to other comedians who have said the same thing
I think theo got rocked by chicken fry. Shes probably just moody from not having her Adderall and isn't realizing she's coming off a certain way to theo. Theo got in his head and started to divert the energy and it came out 😬😶
Yeah.. He said "everyone steals my stuff" -- and wanted to put out an example. So it implies, since Dicky stole something, then Shameless probably stole something too. Plus it completely diverts away from the shameless accusation that they threw at him. I don't think they ever mentioned shameless again after that. So it was a clever deflection.
That’s the only time I’ve ever seen someone kinda piss off Theo. She hit a nerve how she was talking to him or maybe just because joke stealing is a sensitive topic amongst comedians. But yeah, she killed the vibe. She could’ve said that the concept was on an episode of Shameless in a different tone.
@@penelopepalmyea we’ll you’re probably a virgin dude. She’s salty because he didn’t want anything to do with her. They just did a pod together then she acts like this
I have always had this feeling that Theo exaggerates or makes up some of his stories. It's a well known aspect of a lot of stand up comedy to say things happend to you that actually happened to someone else, and a big part of what has made him successful is his crazy stories from growing up in poor parts of Louisiana. It's the kind of backstory that makes it impossible to really confirm or deny any of the details. I don't think he stole a atory from Shameless, but I do think he makes up a lot of his stories and claims they really happened.
@@mostlyysorryy It's still lying. It's just like Fox News and reality TV, the truth doesn't matter, only wether it's entertaining. I'm personally just tired of it, and I like a little authenticity in my entertainment.

Great video! Just found you and highly impressed with your content. Love comedy and your research and dedication to covering these topics from all angles is great!
I like Theo, more so in podcast form than his stand up, I think almost every stand up who’s main claim to fame or main moneymaker is their podcast and not stand up, is second or third rate at best when it comes to being an actually good stand up comedian. Bill Burr, Shane Gillis and Tim Dillon are really the three or so that only come to mind as far as comics who have a considerable presence in the podcast sphere, especially TD, yet their stand up is still really solid. I like Tom and Christina and love YMH and Bert and Theo Von, Sam Morril, Chris DeStefano, and a few others, these are all really funny guys in conversation that have first rate podcasts, most of them, but are second rate comics, some even further down the tier list, 3rd or 4th tier for some.
I agree with your point but Sam Morril is hella funny and way more clever than anyone else you mentioned. And he’s not my favorite by far but I think I think Tom segura is pretty decent as well. Bert is funny the first time around and then all his shit sounds the same.
A wooden shirt joke wouldn't be that suspicious. But the fact that theo said that on rogan too, I'm sure Dave or one of his writers heard it. Its not that uncommon. I'm glad theo said something about it tbh.
@@samanthab1923 yeah but idk if he would intentionally do that, since he's a comic too and they friends I thought still. But very well could of been him tbh.
Theo first witnessed someone else wearing a wooden shirt. Dave ripped it from the same source. I would think Theo Von would have to point out particular lines or actually create original scenarios. This happened in real life. Dave took a true funny concept and got extremely creative with it. It just feels fine to hear something like that and try to make some comedy around it. Inspiration from true stories is common af

The only proof someone “jacked” his material is a slightly similar concept in once clip of a show. He accused Lil Dicky of stealing from him multiple times. If he’s accusing someone of stealing his bits maybe he should actually prove it.

Just bad
I think he was uncomfortable cause she was being a bitch to him.
While I think all of that is true, it didn't cause him to say something he didn't mean, but rather it caused him to say something he actually felt but normally would have kept to himself to avoid blasting someone publicly. So you basically got a real moment of truth from Theo because of it/her.

The thing is majority of Theos bits are obviously made up/over exaggerated stories but the thing is majority of comedians/fans know this. So to call him out on it on a podcast is in a way taking shots at him just in a passive aggressive way.

Probably a natural trait of comedians. No one wants to be the next Amy Schumer or Carlos Mencia. Somebody clips it on the internet and next thing you know. Theo is being accused of stealing jokes. Just my take.

He never acts like that and was like "mildly" upset. Which leads me to believe that he had his jokes or ideas stolen.

Technically he said there was a lot of borrowed content. He didn't say it was necessarily all his. Maybe he's talked to other comedians who have said the same thing
