I think it’s fair to say Theo Von paved his own success. The guy is genuinely funny
He is really different too. I am never sure whether his ignorance is act or fact, but especially in the early days his genuine 'dumbness' was hilarious
He was funny as hell when he was hungry. He is comfortable now, comfortably funny not hungry funny anymore. But you can tell Theo has always been about Enterprising. Stavros is the new kid on the block with the juice, hence why Rogan is riding his cotails for podcast views.

I don't know if Jim Carrey is a comedian anymore, but he did a LOT of comedy movies of different types. Jim also paved his own path with somewhat normal family and with a normal background.

But yeah it was a number off the top of his head, when your ranting for minutes upon minutes numbers do get a little skewed, but he did hit the sweet spot. The deal with Katt blew my mind because I watch all of these guys and had thought to myself that some of them weren’t funny and Joe was just keeping them alive (mainly talking about ari) and to hear him say it out loud kinda put everything in perspective
Ari is a gatekeeper for younger comics and has helped heaps of better comics get noticed. I'm not a huge fan and didn't like him in the Rogan days but this opinion is kind of stupid unless you aren't aware that he has been one of the most popular podcast guests on the gas digital station and helping others get noticed?
It's not all that...at all. These guys are his friends first and foremost. Sometimes it's just simple shit. Joe didn't seek out the best comedians...but his friends.

The context here that's important is that Joe is a hypocrite because he and and his buddies have all been so opinionated about what constitutes real comedy and a real comedian. As unfunny as Shaub is, I think he's right that Joe's relationship with him is mostly rooted in MMA. In my opinion, Katt was essentially just saying that noone in the Rogan-verse is funny, and "6 comedians" was just a rough estimate. Undoubtedly Bert, Schultz, Segura and Ari are included in that list. Shane is easily the funniest actual standup in that group, and he's also the least dependent on Rogan. Coincidence? I think not.
