  • Here's a look at the JSB Knockout slugs in .177 at 13.43 grains tested on the range with two sub 12 Ft/Lbs rifles. The head size of this slug is 4.52. I used the Daystate Air Wolf MCT and Custom Retay T20 rifles for the tests. Both rifles are capable of 18mm, 5p group sizes at 40 yards, proving that you don't need a full power rifle, although the slugs would probably group even tighter at higher speeds, ideally between 16 Ft/lbs and 20 Ft/Lbs.

Good testing. I been testing some of the NSA 12.5gn .178cal slugs from a benjamin marauder. 177 13 foot pounds. I been getting some great results at lower power levels. I can't wait to keep testing .177 and .22 cal slugs from low power air rifles.

A bit late to reply, but I've been shooting 13.4gr pellets out of a 12ft lbs rifle and they are accurate at 30 yards.
So how would slugs that are lighter in weight, some at 10gr, not be officially recommended when heavier pellets work?
I haven't tried these slugs, but this video seems to show that they work and they are very similar in weight to the pellets I've been using. So a slightly lighter slug should perform better at this power level.
Maybe the 10gr knockout slugs will be better suited to 12 ft lbs rifles.

10.03 available at airgun 101 shop. Got some today, shooting really well out of my hw100 and bsa ultra. Very impressed.

Aim at the same spot as the first shot, if it stacks you know they will shoot well.
That way you can tell if your barrel likes them after 2 shots.

People who chase shots all over the target with cross hairs is so funny.
      Waste of good pelets imo

Nice mate good to see that 12 ft lb can handle the slugs but for 12 ft lb I would recommend the 10.34 grain slugs as against the 13 grainers. Coming from a country we don’t have power restrictions but we do have caliber restrictions these are fantastic

hi mark,,i see u are giving them a go but imo slugs are for a more powerful gun with more speed, its a lot to ask for in a sub 12 especially at that weight, expensive misses too, lol😊

That weight is nothing. I use Bisley Magnums in my S510 and there 21.4 gr out to 30 yards and are extremely accurate

Like pellets, you'll get some slugs that group like a shotgun, and some are spot on. You will have more luck with an FAC rifle because you should be able to get to around 850 ft/p/s and above. Some choked barrels don't work as well as unchoked barrels. With 177, you should do well with slugs weighing 13 grains or more. H&N knockouts at 13 grain do well at around 17 ft/lbs at 100 yards. Wildman also do good ones as well. I suggest buying some sample packs first to see what works best.

Are they a snug fit upon cocking the gun… I’ve lost accuracy with with some slugs ie blow over with loose slugs ie when cocking it feels like you’re not cocking anything into the barrel.

I don't understand why you keep adjusting your scopes if it hits the paper just keep aiming at the same place and your group in this case would be low

Ok , ok , ok , im gonna get me a tin , probably try them in single shot loaders first . Think ive seen the lighter variant advertised somewhere for sale .. may be a better bet ( @ 10grn ) actually will give both a try .. used Barracuda FT's in my Mk4 for the first time tonight , boy oh boy , they were bob on .. dont know why I didnt try them before in the MK4 , as it tends to work well with a slightly heavier pellet ( which is a bonus in breezy conditions ) the FT's aint ( @ 9.57grn )quite the JSB heavy weight ( 10.34 ) but spank my arse and call me charlie .. they are superb .. defo gonna get another tin of them ... recon next time I go too the range ( wont be for a few weeks , the car is knackered ) ill have plenty of testing to do myself .. me son will prolly wanna knick some of my slugs to try there anawl ..

    • @airgunsniper-elite7385
      @airgunsniper-elite7385  3 года назад

Yes, you can't go wrong with any of the Barracuda range. Barracuda Match10.65 grain, or the 9.57 Barracuda Light.
The 177 Knockout Slugs are also comparable in price to the Barracuda and in quantity. The 13.43 grain come in tins of 400 and the 10.03 grain in tins of 500.
I have heard good reports on the 10.03 grain, but all dealers seem to be out of stock with those at the moment. The lighter weight an higher speed may tighten the grouping in sub 12 ft/lb. The most accurate slug that I have fired was the Precision Ballistic slug at 50 yards, but cost £12 per hundred. The knockouts are the best value so far, and compare to pellets.

whats this hold over stuff all about, don't air rifle shooter use the turrets on their scopes?
put your dope into a ballistic calculator and adjust for distance simple. Buy decent glass with good tracking
