    I don't think you mentioned that Ridgeline has all wheel drive and a 5000 lb towing capacity in all trims. That and the extra interior room are pretty significant differences. It's closer to the Ranger in size, capabilities, and price. You also didn't drive them back to back and I think you would find the Ridgeline is a much more comfortable and quiet vehicle if you had. I'm not so sure what you have against sharing parts with the Pilot, Odyssey and Passport - all are built in the same plant in Alabama with 65% of the parts made in the USA/Canada. The Maverick is a cool little truck, and seems to meet your expectations and needs better than the Ridgeline. I think you were just a tiny bit biased in your review. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

    Honda did the fake bed cut line to reduce the cost of repairing the bed sides..They're no longer one piece with the pillar which required cutting and welding to replace them, now they unbolt from the body like the front fenders. Your review also didn't include opening the in bed storage in the Honda, which is absolutely HUGE inside. I get it, you love your maverick and that's great, but opinionated videos lacking good information are just for clicks and ad revenue.

    • @jmc6000
      @jmc6000  7 месяцев назад

      I tried to reveal the opening inside the bed but it would open for me at the time of filming. It does make sense that the rear quarter can be separated from the rest of the body, Maverick does is the same as well.

    You get what you pay for! The Maverick is like a tin can compared to the Honda. Sure the RL look is tired and has long-in-the-tooth styling...but in a "truck"? I'd rather have comfort, payload/towing and reliability. 2022 Mavericks are still being recalled for engine fires...and not to mention the Pirate dealers tacking on as much as $5k to the MSRP...if you can find one? The Ridgeline has a 4.7 star customer rating on Edmunds! With ZERO, 1 or 2 star ratings! See how many other Midsize trucks can boast those figures? I'd say, drive a Ridgeline for a week...then go back to your Maverick? You'll be singing a different tune.

    I've owned an XLT Maverick, a Lariat Maverick and now a Ridgeline. There really is no comparison the Maverick is like driving a cheap toy and lacks options, there wasn't even a power passengers seat, the seats are very short front to back and there's no tilt for the seat bottom, or a dimming rearview mirror on the Lariat with luxury package.
    The Ridgeline is so much more refined in every single aspect, you can't even haul 4ft wide materials in the mavericks without proping it up on the wheel wells & tailgate in half open position.

    2023 ridgeline sport owner here. Yes the sea of black inside can be boring lol. I wish they had implemented a bed in the maverick like the ridgeline and Santa Fe since that’s it’s competition. Coming from an f150 I went with the ridgeline over the maverick for the room inside and the trunk. Those were the 2 things that kept me from considering it. Also I can’t load a fourwheeler in the bed of the maverick. For reference the sport was 39k before any discounts

    My wife and I just test drove these 2 back-to-back. The Ridgeline blew the Maverick out of the water. Not only are the Ridgeline’s seats more spacious and comfortable, but the drive was much smoother. The Maverick was bumpy and the hybrid braking system was jerky. It was apparently cheap-feeling. Not to mention, at least in the used market, the Ridgelines have more luxury features (sunroof, push button start, heated leather seats, adaptive cruise, etc.) for about the same price as a Maverick XLT. In our opinion, the Honda is the better buy.

    Tons of copium logic in your review. I just got my ridgeline RTLE for 41k with .9 financing. Lot mav xlts are going for 35k hell I’ve seen laraits doing for 40k. FOR A MAVERICK.

    Easy decision imo.
    I was dead set on getting a maverick too but the dealer BS and quality control of it just pushed me away.

  • @brianbailey813

    The maverick dash is literally a carbon copy of the bronco sports dash. How is that any different? You talk about how shallow the ridge lines bed is, but didn’t mention that you don’t have tire wells in the way. You also don’t mention the ridge lines v-6 as opposed to what the maverick has. I’ve looked at both and frankly the instrument cluster is too low opinion the dash of the maverick. I’ll take a ridge line over a maverick any day.

    • @jmc6000
      @jmc6000  6 месяцев назад

      The dash itself is different in the Maverick than in the Bronco Sport but the gauges are the same I will give you that.

    Your comparison review isnt really an honest comparison review. Wish you didnt share.
    I Like both and am considering both. Hobestly, the Maverick may win due to much lower price (& i have friend at Ford to give me discount code), Ridgeline is the better overall better vehicle & better reliability & resale value. ITS larger & worth more.. not sure about $8k more for similar top trim here in Canada, but... comes down to if you really could use the longer bed or short for ones use & value to you.

    • @bryhul6534
      @bryhul6534 6 месяцев назад +1

      The top trims of the Maverick are about like the low trims in the Ridgeline. The Loaded Lariat Mav with Luxury package does not even have a power passenger seat, no auto dimming rear view mirror, & no fog lights

    If the Ridgeline came as a hybrid for that price it would be an easy decision for me. I like the Maverick MPG in the hybrid but I know it's not apples to apples. Honda is much better built.

    The mavericks bed is a postage stamp with length and width. Long term reliability of the mavericks hybrid cvt transmission is questionable at best. You can load a 4x8 sheet of plywood, a quad, or a motorcycle in the bed of a ridgeline easily. I use my Ridgeline for my yacht repair business. The trunk holds all of my expensive tools ans the bed holds fiberglass and other materials. I can go from work to picking up my kids for practice without having to move stuff around like I did in my tacoma. I like the in bed audio too

    • @dennislyon5412
      @dennislyon5412 8 месяцев назад +2

      Maverick hybrid cvt transmission doesn’t come from the “belt drive” category. It has 2 electric motors with planetary gears - no belt - and is very reliable. Ford has sold them for several years in the Fusion, Escape, and Cmax.

    • @plmn93
      @plmn93 3 месяца назад

      The Ridgeline's bed is so shallow that the Maverick's bed actually offers the same volume. It can easily haul 4x8 plywood, quads, and motorcycles. There are many examples of people doing just that on the Maverick forums. Not sure I'd want to keep my tools where I have to unload everything to access them, but if it works for you, great. The Ridgeline is definitely larger overall, particularly in rear seat width.

    The Ridgeline costs twice as much because it'll last twice as long as the Maverick. And the tailgate on the Maverick is lighter because it's cheaper. for the price of a new Maverick I could get a lightly used Ridgeline and it would still be a better vehicle in every way and last longer.

  • @sharkskin3448

  • @plmn93
    @plmn93 3 месяца назад +2

    Angry fanboys disagree, but I think you hit on many of the reasons why the Maverick has been such a runaway success while the Ridgeline has always been a sales loser. The Ridgeline is not a bad truck by any means but it is simply not what most truck buyers want. I actually think the 1st gen had a much better interior more appropriate for a truck. The Maverick is what people expect in a unibody pickup. Inexpensive and efficient while still looking like a truck.

      I think you are wrong. Long term Hondas are showing to be pretty unreliable. My wife has a 2016 pilot with 85k miles on it and it’s starting to break down everywhere. Others with pilots and ridgelines are experiencing the same issues with under 100k miles. The 2.0 turbo in the ford is tried and true and I’m closing in on 45k miles on my maverick and I haven’t had any issues at all.
