Dune and Foundation adaptations in the same year? What a way to make quarantine that much more manageable. (Just found a copy of Foundation to read too) 7:37 is a great moment!
As a science fiction enjoyer, reading and watching Foundation was some kind of return to roots, some kind of pilgrimage to the very beginnings of this genre…
Getting Bear McCreary to do the soundtrack of this is possibly the smartest thing that they could have done on the audio front. Bear always manages to capture/create the emotion of a scene in a way that you'll remember just by hearing the music.
Bear has worked with David S. Goyer before on DaVinci’s Demons and other things, and Bear had read the Foundation series when he was younger. So naturally Bear wanted in (read Bear’s blog entry he posted on Foundation this week). The new music technology he helped create is just astonishing!
I walked into my living room whilst my parents were watching this show and within about 10 seconds of listening to the OST that was playing in the background i knew it was McCreary. After playing as much God of war as i do i can recognize his work very easily.
Gaal Leaves Synnax may be the greatest television show song ever. It's incredible, it was the song that hooked me into the show immediately upon hearing it.
I just love all those ads right after starting the dream of cleon. Really helps to get in the mood lol. Also the tampon ad halfway through to make sure you don't get back in the mood.
The music when the young Cleon escaped and is roaming in the city looking for Azura's place is my favorite but I can't find it anywhere... Somebody helps!
not a gamer, but this music makes me want to play an open world game of this book adaptation. The whole scenery from the ships and building designs, costumes, cast and score ... i want more of that.
Dos de mis sueños cumplidos! Ver Foundation como serie y la versión de Villeneuve de Dune haciendo algo más de justicia a la película de Lynch... Jeje larga vida a LA FUNDACIÓN...
You can hear the Battlestar Galactica influence with "Gaal Leaves Synnax" and I am 100% ok with that, Bear McCreary is a galaxy wide treasure and must be protected at all costs.
Anyone else heard "Spiderman 2002 Theme" in the main title for Foundation? :D I was like, wait a minute I heard something similar somewhere. Such a great mix of tones and instruments.
The song "Gaal Leaves Synnax" the bit at 5:30 is very familiar - like it was taken from another song. Like Breaking Down by Florence + The Machine. Is anyone catching it? If not F+TM then its definitely something familiar to me. The song I have in my head is "im on my knees again" or "Im on my feet again" something close to that. It just sounds so familiar or really close in sound to a song I've heard.
Some elements have a striking resemblence to the Stellaris soundtrack. That timestamp is quite a lot like the crescendo in "creation and beyond": ruclips.net/video/qjqsIENcFR0/видео.html
The show it´s great dude. Yes, the fate of characters and some concepts are differents, but the main trilogy of books are more about ideas, concepts and world construction, not characters,And the short stories are to short to make a series, because this i expected changes. And review a series only for 2 or 3 episodes it´s ridicolous. I watch every all season of a show to make a review.
Not minding the series. Bear McCreary has made some of the most iconic TV themes in history. I read the Foundation books 30 odd years ago (and a Prequel or two from other authors more recently) and remember thinking how great it would be as a series, then realising there's a lot of conversations on space ships, so it might not work. At least this looks like it works. My only disappointment so far was the thingy that displayed the calculations wasn't as impressive onscreen as I made it in my head all those years ago.
It is not on par with the books but I am still impressed with the show. Art directorial is off the charts. Very successful, epic and mesmerizing visuals and world building. Clonic dynasty idea is very interesting and I like the application a lot. I like how they are building the 2nd foundation but with a huge caveat, 2nd foundationers are not future seers in books and I much prefer the book version with mind powers. Anyhow biggest disappointment is Demerzel. Instead of being a mega puppet master she downgraded to a depressive robot. Definitely ruined that character. Vault difference is ok for me too :) Enjoying the show overall. Good job.
I read the original trilogy in 2017. After read the other sequels and prequels in 2019. And in 2021(beggining of the year) i read again the trilogy. From a fan of foundation all books, i say: The series adaptation it´s great. Foundation first book(and the main trilogy in general) don´t work as a literal adaptation, even the author(asimov) agreed with that. When they annouced the adaptation in 2018, i was expecting many changes in story.
the Chant of the Luminous could be the pater of a new religion, are we at the beggining of the end . The fall for the rise of a new foundation. (without human would be prefered)

@@arthuroliveirasouza4714 The main series of books is devoted to ideas and Hari Seldon but the show is dedicated to "special" mathematicians (especially in the third series) and whimpering emperors, it will only get worse, people ask for an adaptation of the book, and not fanfiction of a schoolgirl from the back desk that changes the character and gender of characters for the sake of their romantic stories.
We obviously don't watch the same show. Also read up on what Asimov said in regards to a Foundation adaptation. He said that severe changes are practically a neccessity. It keeps the general plotlines of the book series, and that is enough for me. Fleshing out the empire and showing its decline via the emperors itself as well as other indicators is a pretty good thing actually. If you don't like the show, don't watch it. But don't expect everyone to agree with your view of it.
@@evillipton1965 YOu clearly did not watch much of the serie. with S1E9 it clearly is that Seldon is still the mainstage and center of the ideas (as he apears to be more like AI driven hologram instead of simple holorecord). Also I really like the take they are doing on the decline of Imperium. If every season is dedicated to single seldon crisis we are here for a lot of good time with a lot to spare on fleshing out some stories not mentioned in the grandiose scale of books.
Simply not a big fan of Bear McCreary. He got famous for BSG, but most of that was copy work. And on this one, I am not particularly impressed. Everything done here is done much better elsewhere.

"Gaal Leaves Synnax" and "The Dream of Cleon The First" are such a beatiful and incredible songs. Great work, McCreary, you are awesome!
He truly never disappoints!!

THE CHANT OF THE LUMINOUS IS A MASTER PIECE. FIRST PLACE😎 26.12.2022
"Gaal Leaves Synnax" Caught my ear too. Had to learn how to play it a bit lol.
Knew I had to give The Foundation a chance when I noticed McCreary was back in space making music. Did not disappoint.

7:37 is a great moment!
We are really spoiled this year with these two! I mean Hans Zimmer on dune as well!!
Well, Dune was expeting to be released las year :( But yeah. Both are great!!
And the final season of The Expanse - at least for the pre-Laconia story arc. They really are spoiling us.
unfortunately only one of these adaptations is great and the other is Foundation
fuck quarantine fuck coronameasures
The dream of Cleon the first, tugs at my heart strings. I've been humming it for days.
6:13 gaal leaves synnax bgm and actual footage match beautifully.
I looked up the soundtrack specifically for this scene
RIGHT?!

The Dream of Cleon the First is addicting... I went sleep last night singing it into my head

Love me some galactic stories that has grandiose music and visuals of the future. Makes you wish you’d live long enough to see it all happen
Something cleon kind of achieved
Bear Mcreary has reduced me to tears more times than I care to admit. Such a talented man and a credit to our species.
11:29 The music when the Emperors are being introduced is simply majestic.
EPIC!
I discovered foundation late, but my god the music makes the difference. McCreary is incredible at his craft.
Excellent music to listen to while reading the Foundation books!
Respect, and enjoy the music!
8:16 Singularity hyperdrive jump. So epic!

SAME. Without that song I would not have continued watching the series
Good story, good books, good series, good musique, cross road is incoming, and this is just the beginning

LOVE the show, and the music.
Мне очень нравится этот сериал, отображает культуры нашей цивилизации с взглядом в будущее.авторам респект и уважение
Captures the essence of the subject perfectly.
57:38 my favorite ❤️
SPOILER: I think it will be used at the end of Mayors, when the Foundation, using religion, turns Anacreon's people against their own government
6:25 so good
That’s exactly what I came for!
Synnax beta theme...
The main Title is an absolute work of art! I am considering writing a band arrangement using a few of these songs as movements.
You cant go wrong with the Bear :)

The Avatar of the series, because of the visual, effects and scale. But the story it´s excellent too, and i have read all the 7 novels of Foundation.
What a legend. This is perfect to code to. He's soooo much better than Zimmer.
Agree. Zimmer's 'boom' styles have gone so boring.
If you have to compare them without prompt... it probably is the other way around.

Getting strong Battlestar Galactica vibes here. (No surprise, as the composer is the same.)
Not all BSG is heavy with drums and even soft rock at times strings are minimal here it's different ballgame altogether and I love it.

This show it’s Like dune with game of thrones I love it 😍.
Some recurring themes sounds similar to The Brothers Grimm soundtrack - Dickensian Beginnings.
