Champion dude, you have no idea how much I look forward to your videos! As a couple of the comments have said, it’s really pushed me to go the extra mile in doing renos on my lawn and trying new things!
Love the channel! Just an idea for a little mid week series while the rain is holding things up. I’d love some educational content on different grass types and how different fertilisers are used for particular reasons. Love the content of the new place!
I started using Pgr on my Sydney buffalo this summer and it certainly has helped to reduce the mowing but also filling in bare spots. Very much recommended even though using a simple Solo knapsack sprayer. I'll need to improve on my Safety Sally wardrobe in 2022.
I just picked some up yesterday to apply tomorrow, it's never been an issue the last 3 years I have been on my new property, but this year the grass has gone absolute bonkers with growth. Can't keep up with the mowing.
This is great stuff, encouraged me to work harder on my lawns. I’ve been dealing with water logging and thatch here in Vic on my kikuyu lawn, while I can’t get a hold of the power tools I bought the hand tools to give it a go. Should keep me busy this summer
Looks fantastic Ben, your getting the most out of your Kikuyu. Always great tips, information and advice your the go to lawn guy! I bought Acelepryn from your site, it's kept the grubs out of my Fescue 😀👍using the Primo Maxx for slowing the growth also extremely helpful! Cheers mate.
Looking Great Ben, even my SW is looking the best it’s been for awhile with the rain we’ve been having, only down side is I’m having to mow every 3rd day to keep on top of it or it’s too hard for me to mow, these storms have been unbelievable, but then when I think back probably about 30 years ago, it was what we would have almost every day especially around the time to pick up the kids from school. Happy Holidays from Janelle 🎄🎄🎄🤶🏻🎅🏻🐶
Fun Fact: Kikuyu is a tribe found mostly in Kenya. So when this was on my recommendations, I was hella confused with the title. Thought process: what does a Kenyan tribe have to do with lawn care?? Needless to say, I was entertained and thus subscribed. Cheers!
Wow, looks great. I remember thinking "what!" when you first said "I think I'm going to keep it" about the kikayu -- but that was just because I'd never heard of it. Beautiful color. What other types of grass would you say it reminds you of?
Yo buddy love your videos. I have two suggestions/comments the first is to look into a product called Auneu its a bit cheaper then the Primo and works just as good if not better once the temps get a little bit warmer. The second thing is generally you wanna mow before you spray your PGR... im sure you know that and wasnt sure if you applied the Primo to the area you mowed with the toro. Other then that keep up the great work!
@@LawnTips Damn that's crazy about the mowing before you spray. I don't know anything about the Kikuyu mostly just deal with C3 turfgrass. We always mow and immediately spray our PGR,Etc. right afterward. Thanks for the info!
Few things Benjamin, 1. The edit pause after “thick and long” was great. 2. I have kik at my rental, cutting into the crown is becoming frustrating with all this bloody nsw rain, even 2 mows a week. 3. Pretty please 🙏 can we get a vid and recommendations on replacement nozzles for that sprayer????
Pretty sure there's a video that shows the new nozzles on the spray unit, wasn't long after he first got it he changed the nozzles and put the growth regulator down.
Thanks for your videos. I'm really enjoying what you're doing on the new land. You mentioned cutting into the crown. I have Kikuyu and I cut into the crown a bit as well. Is the solution to just cut higher or can I get the crown down lower somehow? Thanks mate
There is no shortage of awesome contents in your channel. Talking about the PGR can I spray that on my lilly pilly bush :) they are taking over my driveway . Will PGR help to slow down lilly pilly bush. I couldn't find something on the label . Sorry if its dumb idea :)
Looking to put in grass at my new property north west sydney. Soil is mostly clay, we have some sun and some areas that won't get sun. Any recommendations on the type? Sir Walter or Kikuyu?
@4:33 you said you were 0.6mm out, but given the 2 measurements were 14.72 vs 14.78 that's 0.06, or 6 hundredths of a mm, not 0.6 (6 tenths) of a mm. In grass terms that's nothing, and I wouldn't worry about it in woodworking either! (only metal or optics cares about hundredths of a mm).
You mention it cuts the crown when mowing kik short. Is there a solution to this or is kik just crap for mowing short? Also what kind of sand should i use for topdressing?
I've mentioned it a couple times mate. Ut what if you did a test patch of lawn where you have chooks on it and see what difference they make is? I have chooks and I swear to God, I've never had to worry about grubs or beetles and their poo is awesome for the grass as long as we've designated dust bath areas for them they're happy as and my lawn is looking the best I've ever had and with the least effort I've ever put in.
The season has been horrendous and the biggest problem I find with Kikuyu is that it thatches way too quickly. I suspect you will be spraying it out at some point. My kikuyu experiment is over, it’s a horrid grass to manicure.
@@emanemanresuresu at certain heights it’s ok like 20-25 but as soon as you get down around the crown it looks crap and scalped just like we saw in the video

Bra, haha
Can't wait to see that Kik around 12mm. Almost got my Scotty bottomed out cutting my kik. Loves this WA weather. PGR saving me at the moment too

Just about to mow my lawn.. watching this to inspire me haha. So much rain lately in “sunny NSW”

Was skeptical on the kikuyu grass since I didn’t really like the way it can be aggressive but I’m starting to like it now lol
Looking forward to the green mate
250mm in a month? That's our yearly rainfall!!!! Hahahaha
The editing looks mint!
Hey mate i believe you've covered it before but what's the best weed control spray for within kikuyu and couch? Cheers mate 👍
Love watching your stuff! Just an idea, have you thought of having a self tracking drone follow you during your property mow for a time lapse?
Lovin it mate 👍👍 I need one of those Toros for sure haha
You got a Accu- Gage, nice.

Didn’t apply any primo to the kikuyu 👌🏽

Benny I'm loving your new property mate. I'd it wasn't for you I wouldn't be mowing every 2nd or 3rd day haha. Keep it up mate 👍
Can't say im a fan of Kikuyu. But still interesting to see the progress.
Where did u get that measuring stick from
Hi Ben, just wondering when you will be applying Primo Maxx to the renovated kik? I am at the same stage post reno with mine. Cheers mate.

Mate compared to how that looked when you moved in it’s astonishing…
You mention it cuts the crown when mowing kik short. Is there a solution to this or is kik just crap for mowing short?
Also what kind of sand should i use for topdressing?
Just need to train it. Like any grass type.
I use washed pit sand. If you can get some 90-10 or 80-20 even better!
Can you just level with sand and the grass will grow through it ? my grass isnt level and some are 2 inch drops
Send some rain our way in nz we haven't had anything like what you guys are getting bit I only want night time rain nothing during the day

@@LawnTips you beauty!!!
At what point will you be looking to apply pgr to the Kik?
Anyone know what type of edger that was ?
Was a Stihl kombi unit 🤙🏼
Is Kikuyu just an Australian grass? Lol or do we call it something different here in the US?
If Kikuyu gets into the US it will take over the entire country
The season has been horrendous and the biggest problem I find with Kikuyu is that it thatches way too quickly. I suspect you will be spraying it out at some point. My kikuyu experiment is over, it’s a horrid grass to manicure.
