Both of the chairs came out beautiful. I loved how honest they were too, they were made more for aesthetic then comfort. I'm amazed at how this could all be done in a day.
Oh its such an intelligent, refresshing and intresting video,it totally changed my life and the way i look on things.Human courage is increadible and amazing.
@@adamharris5003 There's a reason that some chairs from designers like Arne Jacobsen and Marcel Breuer become classics, because they find a way to marry form and function. It's very hard to do. And often the chair is considered the ultimate challenge for a furniture designer because there's only so many ways to make a chair both beautiful and comfortable.
Alex, one question regarding the cork, if that's okay. In your experience, does the cork still crumble after it's glued to a surface? I was going to use cork for a project, but I wasn't sure if it would crumble.. Thank you.
This video is fantastic! I loved seeing two artists interpret a project on their own and compare. I really appreciated the intelligent discussion about art and design, and the artist's personal viewpoint. This was an excellent video, and I hope you make more like this in the future.
Both of these chairs were creative takes on the original. For me, though, I'd have to go with that gorgeous wooden beauty Lauren made. Holy chatoyance!
I LOVE these challenges of designers taking accessible items and making them bespoke designer pieces with thoughtful details. Very inspirational Thank you!!! Please make more challenges like these
A combo of both these approaches would be awesome. I really like Lauren's seat and armrests, and they look more comfortable to me. I really like the look of the slats Alex made, and the saddle washers, and I think they make a really nice back.
Both are fantastic ideas that showcase the designer’s creativity and thoughtfulness. Now I’m eyeing my old lawn chairs with some ideas to transform them!
Both these chairs are so so good. If I had to choose one, I would probably have to choose Alex's quirky cork and laminate chair, just love the quirkiness and artiness of it, a statement chair. But I love the arm rests on Lauren's chair, the rounded edges and the grain, just gorgeous.
My favourite part of this is the reveal. Both Artists did a stunning job. Wow. They were boring to listen to (explaining their processes of working), but their end pieces are BEAUTIFUL!! And they were very sweet with each other, which counts for a LOT in my book. I'm very impressed. Really lovely creations and both of them are talented craftspeople.
@@jonhohensee3258 Sort of a contest simply because people have opposing opinions. The main reason for these 2 folks doing their own unique designs was to see their unique results.
Wow, this video was a masterclass in creativity! It's incredible to see how Alex and Lauren, with their different approaches, both managed to breathe new life into a simple folding chair. It goes to show that inspiration truly has no limits. Can't wait for more collabs like this! 👏🛋🎨
This was such a great episode, love both these artisans. Both chairs are beautiful. Alex’s chair is reminiscent of a mid century aesthetic, very hip. And Lauren’s is warm and sleek.
I’m first impressed they got the chairs to fold. Secondly I’m impressed with how quickly they got it done. Thirdly even though I personally don’t like their designs, I love how creative the designs are. I would buy these chairs for no other reason than the fact that they are different. Finally I think this is a great idea for someone who wants to play around with any medium. All the ergonomics and mechanics are there’s you can design around them.
Lauren’s chair was beyond beautiful, she used all the ideals she designs by and the result was just beautiful. I think her chair would be comfortable, she took time out to create curves that would make it comfortable. His chair is merely for looks, a plant holder or something like that.
I have been binging these videos. They are great! I love the support the artists give each other, I love the cool projects they come up with. Great concept!
Both creative and beautiful. You two have so much talent. I have a few of those chairs that really need an upgrade, but since I don't have all those wonderful tools will have to use the good old sewing machine.
@@jonhohensee3258 it helps sell that this isn't that bad an alternative...was what I was trying to say. If both are gonna hurt your butt within the hour might as well think about going with aesthetics
This was really cool. I'd give my vote to his chair because he was more venturing into different materials and it came out more interesting. She was playing on a safe bet with just slabs and natural beauty of rosewood. Definitely more beautiful chair and more comfortable, but dead simple.
Love both chairs but I think im gonna go with Lauren's one. Simple yet effective design, seems very combortable. I love the colors Alex used for his but the surface would feel uncomfortable if i was to sit wearing shorts lol
Amazing to watch parallel executions, with tremendous results by both. 2-thumbs up for both Alex and Lauren, and of course AD-for a video well made! (Do some more!)
If this was made into a full length show I'd never miss an episode...
Check out the show Flea Market Flip, it is somewhat similar
Right?
Yeah, this should be a show. 100%!

Given they are designers they both might want to look into new glasses lmao especially the woman. God those clear glasses are hideous.
