- We gave two furniture designers with different personal styles one day to transform the same mass-market vanity from The Home Depot, turning a basic table and mirror into something way more personalized and expressive. Designer Leonard Bessemer describes his style as sculptural and irreverent while Alex Hsu calls his work thoughtful and colorful - but whose upscaled vanity would fit most comfortably in your home?

I love this kind of videos when we see different perspectives and creative ideas comparation without being a competition
true. its so nice to see 2 artists talk about their craft and creative process. so nice
He should sell those cloud light covers on their own, so cute😘💗
He made little cloud keychains that he's selling on his site.
Right! I didn’t think I would like them so much
I agree.
I lost it at the adapters for the cloud diffusers. Such a cool and practical solution to put those on the bulbs. I want that!
I usually have a clear favorite but not this time. I'd be happy to have either one in my home!
I totally agree!
same.. Leonard dresser is like a full vision, but the quartz clouds are adorable.
@@readygi right. We'll take one of each!
my favorite is Alex's hands down. it's so soft on the eyes. very creative. love the cloud cover bulbs, and the deign paper he put behind the frame of the mirror. makes it stand out. kudo's
Thanks Mercedes! ☁
I love Leonard's artistic vision, and it's so fun to watch him work... he has the best energy (and the best assistant!)
I love these two designers, and I LOVE these side-by-side transformations, AD. More please!
I love the Alex design. Classy without being heavy. Both designs very original.
I can't pick a favorite because both pieces are so much fun
Oo this one feels more easy to replicate than other projects, love the idea
These are both SO incredible I can’t even choose which design is my fave. I really love those acrylic light covers and the marshmallow legs🤩
cool! love those pink clouds to soften the vanity and the lighting . the subtle lights makes everything look so much more appealing! details w raindrops and the wallpaper are lovely touches! Leonard's piece is much bolder, very fun too!
Leonard is a genius! Love his works
Thank you!!!!
Both are rad! I love the chonky legs of the cherry red one and the frosted light bulbs from Tala are great. I have similar in a vanity in a 1940's bathroom. Those chonky legs make me want to get him to fix my grandma's coffee table. I love the rose quartz acrylic clouds! Such a warm happy vibes. These are so inspiring.
6:33 how nice that they learned that from drew
Both are so playful, love them! ❤ I do love the cherry red one more between the two. 💯
❤❤❤ Glad you like it!
@@objectsforobjects3822 ♥♥♥
Love both designs! Really awesome! We need more creative furniture designers to bring cheers to our lives!
Love them BOTH!
I love the two pieces. I lean towards Alex's for personal use but would put the red one in my house in a flash!
Thanks Megan!
Appreciate your kind words! ☺
I agree with Leonard on what he said about wanting to make the legs look more wonky like the top. That would make it look even more interesting than it already is
Both pieces are great! Would enjoy either in my home
Can't pick which one. I like both!
I LOVE videos like this! The Designers were so creative, and had lovely personalities.
Both are so amazing omg idk which one I like more
Sam is the best assistant! & I’m obsessed with the red one.
Both are brilliant! I love this so much! Great energy, beautifully creative, positive and fun! More, please ❤
Can’t pick a favourite! Both so different and so beautiful
Very fun. Both designers are so talented!
I love this series! It's so cool to see how creative people see design at a different angle!
Also in the first part of the video I heard "When you get like a weird shape Eminem", so I had to turn the captures on to see what was that LoL
the runs in the spray paint at 2:49 make me cry
yay. love the diffuser mirror clutter, looks so good
I am so impressed by how well the diffuser clicked in?!?! I wanna how they did that!!
I need more of these videos. This series is amazing
Love both design, thanks AD for the video.
I’m obsessed with these!
Love this series. Everyone has been so talented and wonderful. I prefer Leonard's vanity, but Alex you did great too.
These designers and designs are fun! Love them! Think I like the red legs the most
I love this series!
Awesome work by Alex!
There are some great designer ideas thank you very much
I like the cloud one more
Those diffusers are superbbb!!!!!
There is no way you could do the project involving so much woodworking in a day. These videos make the lives of real woodworkers a living hell. They condition clients to assume we can knock off projects in no time. Love the projects and the results. Just be truthful about the time it takes.
It's not a day, it's "24 hours". These hours could be divided into a week or two.
these videos are awesomeeee. it would be cool to see enterior designers design entire rooms. that kind of stuff is so entertaining
Both pieces are gor-geous!
Inspiring comradery by both gentlemen 👍🏿 ♥.
I love them both so much!
Can we please see more of this series? It's such lovely content and such a pure pleasure to watch.
I hope they have added additional drawers or little shelvings on each side of the mirror❤
AD your content lately has been amazing!
love this! the red vanity is 100% the winner in my eyes. so fun and bold and it fits perfectly with the language of his lamp designs!
Love that the designers react to each other’s project
I love these videos!
AAAAAAAH MORE INDUSTRIAL DESIGNERS PLEASE
Alex’s is my fave but the legs on Leonard’s remind me of this instrument in elementary school. It was two red sticks with that same shape.
Please please do more of these!
I love this so much!
My favorite series
These are interesting perspectives by two very different designers.
I NEED MORE OF THESE VIDEOS
That was super fun! I like both end results. I love the cloud diffusers...very smart. I also love the red lacquer color as well. Very cool project...giving people ideas to change up prefab furniture.
On a side note...I have never found any Ikea furniture instructions hard to read/understand.
8:42 because you really want cool, more like noon daylight, when you do makeup, you definitely don't want red or yellow light like in normal household lightbulbs. But if you just wanna look yourself in a mirror and have a cozy lighting then go for warmer but not for makeup.
I like these type of videos, they give you great ideas. If I had to choose, I would those the one with the cloud lights, although none of them are my style, I think that one is quite dreamy and would imagine something similar in my niece’s room.
I love this series so much!! However, i would love to be surprised by the result rather than already having seen it in the thumbnail 😅
nice concept and execution🌧️
ooh what a cool series
I love this series. I wish the wait between episodes wasn't so long :(
Please make this series (CUSTOM CRAFTED) again... PLEASE PLEASE PLEAS
He said weird shaped m&m and that made me really happy for some reason!😂
Omg....amazing💗
I love Alex design ❤
Love this
Love the red one and the designer
I love the metal parts of his light bulb clip adapters! I wonder where he got them from?
Hello my friend🖐
Thanks for sharing the videos🤗
Good luck👍
AWESOME
I love both
omg i love it.
To me Alex is the winner here, because the changes were subtle (and relatively cheap), but had great impact on the whole piece. Leonard changed everything about the piece, so it’s like he made it from scratch.
Thanks so much for your kind words!
It just strikes me that we have two male designers doing a vanity, furniture usually so associated with women, so that's interesting. Of course, looking into mirrors is just so important to the visual self that that's also a huge thing here.
The red one gives me vintage vibes and works best as a full redone piece of furniture. If the designers were remaking the furniture idea entirely, the dresser corners would have been rounded like everything else. It makes no attempt to be delicate, but it knows what kind of fun it's having. The rose quartz clouds on the other do a more delicate, luxury vibe, although I'd go more basic with the wallpaper design behind - white marble with gold leaf maybe? faux Jade? Some little hanging crystal would give a nice sparkling raindrop feel.
For myself I prefer the one with the clouds, but they are both great
I like the rose quartz clouds but otherwise, not esp. Wowed but both are certainly better than anything I could do.
Cloud shaped diffusers are a great idea but I prefer the red, organic one
Both interpretations are fantastic but I would love to know what each designer spent on their materials!
I am very old fashioned and conservative, but for some reason I thought Leonard Bessemer's design with the vanity was something I could see in my home. He gets my vote. This looks like something in any bedroom at any age, while Alex Hsu's design looks like something in a young girl's bedroom (in my opinion).
hmu when you guys do a short series on NYC bedroom style
Omg lone fox (drew) influencing
leonard is a genius
Hi Sam you are gorgeous 😍 ❤. Two wonderful projet but my heart goes the red one.
I love Alex clouds and Leonard's legs ( in a differenr colour)
I liked both of them but wish that the vanity wasn't red. I don't like red and feel it makes furniture look childish and cheap.
Loved the shape though
Has anyone found the vanity they’re using? I’m looking on Home Depot’s site but can’t find it😢
Nicee
More vanity makeovers!!! They are so Inherently ugly and no one makes beautiful ones. I’d love to see more gorgeous ones.
These are probably super high end woodworker designers right?
I love the red vanity, I just don't really feel the handles....
assistant sam :))
They're both cute. I would rather not have the mirror covered by the clouds though.
Never been soo early
Third 🥉 to comment yeah! 👍
hi sam!
