You laugh, but the NPC's ability to stop talking and then start over was a revolutionary feature. Before that, they'd either 1) finish their line even if they died in the middle of it, or 2) stop their whole dialogue sequence at the slightest disturbance, making it inaccessible to the player forever after.
So true. In newer games when an NPC talks in between areas where fighting can happen, the fact that they take a breath and say "so wait, where was I... Oh yeah, so" made me audibly gasp the first time I heard it.

My first guess was Morrowind, but yeah, maybe Skyrim
The funniest shit i ever encountered was in morrowind in Balmora when you get to that khajiit trader next to fighters guild and i started trading with him in stealth mode and it was pretty high level, when i finished trading he immediately shouted in funniest voice ever, that scratchy human cat voice "what was that" i couldn't catch a breath for good 10 minutes from laughing.

@Boco Corwin You mean rotoscoping? I'm weirdly on the fence about how these are made. It looks rotoscoped, but the facial animation is way too smooth! The faces look more deepfaked than anything. Can you deepfake rotoscoping..??
It’s a combination of rotoscoping and AI! I use this free program called Ebsynth that takes a single painted frame of video and uses it to stylize the adjacent frames. Once there’s too much movement or change, I have to paint another frame. It’s a huge time saver in the world of rotoscoping, I have to paint roughly 100 frames rather than thousands. It’s imperfect and creates lots of little glitches and artifacts that I like to embrace as well. From there I create the backgrounds and other assets separately and layer them all together with some effects for style in Premiere. Hope that helps!

The sequence was probably, like, two minutes at most, but since the player kept crashing into cars and traffic lights, it took much longer.

We all remember english class, and should know that titles of media require both capitalized words and either an underline, italicization, or quotation marks. I'm not quite the grammar nazi I used to be in high school, but since none of those punctuations were used, I can sure tell that SOMETHING important is missing.

The worst part is when you accidentally get to the ending checkpoint and it transitions to a cutscene BEFORE they finish the dialogue. So now you just have a big chunk of dialogue that you’ll never get to hear because you went too far forward.
Reminds me of the car conversations from GTA. Drive too fast and you miss them. Drive too slow and you're left with awkward silence until you reach your destination.
