I'm having a problem with the part where you do a plunging attack to get to the area you put the cup, is there any safer way to get there?

It should be safe as long as you have the Linen of golden thread and Three gnarled tongues equipped. You could go around through Echoes of salt but that defeats the whole purpose of doing it fast.
