When I went to the White House in August of 69 I was 13 years old and the White House seemed very dowdy at that time. Which was odd because only 7 years before Jackie Kennedy had done a total rehaul on that White House

Thank you SO much for this video. I visited the White House in May 2018 and I have to say, if anyone ever gets a chance for a tour, by all means do so. Photographs and what you see on TV don't really do justice to the beauty and majesty of the White House. You may not get to meet any member of the First Family, but you will see a beautiful mansion and see rooms where so much history happened.
The question is, how do we go about requesting a tour? I am completely blind so can only imagine what I hear in thse videos and it would be so cool to walk through there myself.
@@beyondthestars4299 that is very unlikely. If you want to meet the president that bad I would suggest contacting your local state representative or going to an event and finding out more information on how you can do so.

Visited the White House in 2011. This vid brought back fond memories of my visit to this historic place. Sadly we weren't allowed to bring any cameras inside and the Secret Service asked us nicely to shut down our phones and only to put them back on when we left the premisses. For some reason, the White House is much more impressive on film than it is if you actually see it in person. The rooms are much smaller than you thought they were, which actually makes sense considering when the house was first built and that wood in the fireplaces was the only way to heat it. And if you actually see the White House in person, you notice small things wrong with it such as the furniture either needs polishing or the polish has smears. And the place seems more like a museum than a home. It is nice, but I wouldn't call it beautiful. I really thought I'd be more impressed, but I was actually more disappointed.

The only thing that DID impress me was the size of those columns/pillars as you leave. They are massive. Those white columns were amazing.
Just the base of those columns is taller than a person.
The US Capitol is much more impressive. But the Whitehouse looks pretty cool at night too
