What do you think of the Sofirn IF24?

Nice. I can see myself mounting it as a tail light on my bike! Super bright for daylight running or in fog even! Powerbank feature would have been useful to me as a back up battery bank when bike packing as I carry 18650s for my main power bank. Or emergency phone call when out. I like the look of the longer throw of the pro version for cycling. In my experience throw is needed. And I could also use it with my TS22 (floody torch - so team up)! I can even see myself putting the pro version on my bike helmet. I have done that before with 18650 lights - works well. E.g. a Wuban c3. Agreed the bat indicator is a downgrade! I like the pro is a buck version as it should give me more runtime. Oddly when I looked the official specs for looked similar! But I think it will be better. Could have been due to different warmness of the pro which is warmer. I like that too about the pro. I can see them making a super complex menu from this too with all kinds of features! As the side lights could be used to help give feedback when selecting advanced modes - which i think would make it a lot easier!

They just released a Pro version with a buck driver. No good reviews on that so far, but it looks promising. I'd like to use this for mood lighting in it's RGB mode, so if that mode is buck driven that would be great.. though I suspect it's direct driven instead as it's only got one output level
Agreed re: innovation. I love seeing the improvement from the IF23. An IF25 next year might be one of the best EDC options, if the emitters and driver(s) are good

I think the Buck driver in the pro only applies to the forward facing light, but I could be wrong. My review sample was just the standard 24 and I didn't think it was worth trying to get the Buck version for comparison atm.
Honestly with the absolute tear Sofirn have been on lately, I'm really looking forward to their future products. I have a light coming up from them that I actually like despite not liking the category of light, just because they did it so well.

@@gearedforward Would not mind a runtime comparison with the buck pro version. Bucks are more efficient as you know.

Firmly agree, Sofirn delivers some crazy value for their price range, the lights could easily command a higher price tag.

They have granular control of the RGB LEDs... seems like it would be simple to program them to show the battery level as a simple graphic (1x15 pixels) when turned on or off or when requested with a specific button sequence. Showing the battery level for 2-3 seconds after turning on seems like it would be very useful. And that function could be disabled if you come on in moonlight.

A pixel style battery meter would be amazing, that's a cracking idea!

Could help select advanced modes too with a menu! Future release we hope!

How does the side light brightness compare to the IF23? That's the main qualm i have with my 23... Thr RGB just isn't that bright

If you're talking about the RGB specifically, I just tried to do a quick colour matched comparison for you. I would say the IF24 seems brighter and more effective in a wider area. I'd put this down to the number of emitters (15 Vs 10) and that the IF23 has a much more aggressive diffuser panel.
So, for a moodlight the IF24 would be more effective, bearing in mind the lower capacity cell.
