There's something special about UK lanes and villages, especially in the Spring...... A very nice Speed Triple to compliment your CB500X! I look forward to the next leg of your journey. Cheers.
Many thanks Quentin... it is the baby triple the "Street", quite enough for me. Yep, the lanes are lovely albeit a bit mucky, nice nonetheless and the villages soooo quaint. Nick
Leaves start to appear 17th April, trees are green by the end of April. Lol. That campsite was a bit of a Desperate Dan affair, but at least it was a bed for the night. Is it me or does the 500X sound better on video? :)
Ahhhh.... Spring and the "drip drip drip of April showers". Yes, other sites I contacted had waterlogged fields so no go there. Sound... subjective I guess 😊 Nick
We have beautiful countryside and villages here in the U.K. it’s just a shame about the embarrassing state of our road surfaces 🙄 Pretty impressed with the campsite owner keeping a straight face as he directed you to a field. Thank for the video.
Many thanks for the comment, yep, some of the roads I have encountered are really poorly maintained, but the majority are OK, just got to avoid the pot holes, some are very deep. The smile when he took £25 cash for a night in the field was even better Nick
Loved the villages and country lanes you transversed Nick. Guess you can’t be too picky this time of the year with choice of campgrounds. Most of the state and national park campgrounds here in the USA are just opening for the season. Looking forward to the next leg. Cheers
If I didn't know you were on a Speed triple, with an insta 360 x3 pointing out like that, I might have thought you were a knight with a lance going into battle. Good to see you back but don't envy you on those British roads.
🤣 Many thanks, I wish I'd noticed it before filming with it there, but no going back now... well not yet anyway. And the roads... in a really sorry state! Nick
I'm in the SE England and some of those roads even got a bloody hell from me. I know they're rural and used by large farm vehicles but we do pay a lot of tax in various ways to use them. Bike wise I'd stick with the CB500X for this country.
Greetings from Wisconsin. Excellent road trip! Is there much in the way of free public land available for camping in the U.K.? Looking forward to your Norway trip. Cheers.
Many thanks for your comment, legally for the most part all land is owned one way or another so wild camping is not permitted. There is one place... Dartmoor, that you are allowed to camp but the "owner" tried to ban that recently too. Scotland has its own rules and Norway is fully open so looking forward to that. Nick
@@bikingtravels We have National Forests where typically the only limitation is a 14 day stay in one spot. There are no services and "roads" typically require high-clearance vehicle or motorbike. Most of this land is in the Western U.S. Consider yourself formally invited to come on over and explore. I recommend Washington State in the summer. I hope to make it over to your side of the pond & re-create some of the adventures you've had.
Wasn't it better to just buy a Tiger instead of mounting a luggage rack on a 765R?!?! I once saw those barbecue grills on a Ducati Paso and on a Fireblade HRC, I couldn't believe.
Thanks for asking. Its just taking a rest in readiness for my trip to Norway later this month. Thought I'd give my Street Triple some exercise before setting off again on the CB500X Nick
Hi Alan, I tend to stick with E10 as the engines are "OK" using it, plus many of the off beaten track fuel stations only do E10, not sure if mix and match would make much difference, but I'm not an engineer 😊 Nick
We've lived out of England for the last 20 years but love coming back to look at the little villages. Would be nice to get a place there
Lots of villages to explore, now if we could only get a few more sunny days 😁

Hi Jim, many thanks, and yes, camp sites are still a little hit and miss (and very water logged!)

Errr ...... Street Triple. Maybe Nick was too polite to correct you.

Well... certainly on the route my Garmin thought was the correct route... I'm not sure it was

Buying a rack for my 765R was a lot cheaper than buying a Tiger 😀. I could have used my CB500X for the trip but wanted to give the 765R a run

What happened to The CB500X

Do you use e5 or e 10 fuel in y our motorcycles Alan Northern Ireland?
👍

@@bikingtravels I love the laid back way you present your videos keep up the good work! Alan Northern Ireland l👍
Isn’t that a ridiculous price for a campsite, I had the same issue last year £30 in the lakes one small tent with electric hook up. What a rip off.
I agree, a patch of grass, no electric, but at least it had toilets and hot water I'm sure it's not the worse I'll come across!
