I *love* the fact you just used what you had; a 50cc. It shows that you don't need money and an expensive bike or car to enjoy life. Thanks for sharing.
Hello from Canada. I spend 7 months a year on my 50cc Yamaha scooter, going anywhere and everywhere. So much fun. I still use a paper map to plan my trips and take all secondary roads. I enjoyed your trip and story. For all of you out there, get yourself a 50cc scooter and change your life. You won’t regret it. Be safe.
Hi! Thank you for your comments. I want to know how much was your distance daily? Your average speed? Foor how much km do you stopped to make the motor rest and cooler? and for how long time between 2 stops. Hope you understand my bad English. Thank you so much
I was afraid my 50cc scooter wouldn't be able to make it around my city. After watching this video, I have renewed confidence that my scooter can do anything. Thanks for the inspiration :) Cheers from Canada
While still living in the Philippines in the 1970s, I bought a tiny 50cc Honda Mini trail bike. I rode this bike for a few years not only around our congested city but even frequently rode it over rough roads to my favorite hideout about 25 kilometers away in a reservoir/dam. You can ride your scooter anywhere so prepare to explore the world. Good luck.
I love small Cylindre bikes roadtrips! It makes the world seems bigger and more fun to explore, and allows you to ride slow enough to take in all the sceneries. Inspiring video 👌Thanks for sharing.
I ride a Shadow 125. Friends with bigger bikes have commented that when they ride out with me they ride slower. One has a large adventure bike another a racing style Honda 750. They say that riding at between 30 to 50 mph allows them to see and smell the countryside and not arrive tired from concentrating on the road just in front of them. Besides, my bike is easier to handle on the narrow and winding country lanes where I live.
This is true. I have a big enduro and bought a 125cc scooter for the way to work and back. I made a trip with this scooter from Germany to Greece and it was fantastic.
have only been driving 50cc scooters for over 33,000 kilometers for 2 years! Don't own a car! my longest ride so far has only been 250 kilometers! respect and very cool what you did!
really enjoyed and appreciated your vlog... I found it extremely informative and very useful. I've held a full bike license since 1967 !!! a year ago I purchased a 500cc Yamaha, moving up from a 125 cc scooter. it was a mistake for me and I've now decided to go back to 125s or even a 110 cc . in the late 1950s my uncle and aunt went from London to Sydney on a Mobylette moped !!!! proof that there's nothing wrong with small engined vehicles.
Watching this in 2021, and I'm also looking to buy a 50cc scooter and enjoy some road trips myself. Your video really cemented this adventure for me. Thank you.
I am currently in Italy, in Reggio di Calabria. I want to go visit my sister in The Netherlands. And you just showed me the best way to do it. Truly inspiring. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for your video. I am totally convinced you can make better road trips on a small bike than on a bigger one. I've made both and I was so destressed and relax on my 125cc. Sceneries, roads, you enjoy each part of it. You taste it. No highways. My personal challenge is taking very small luggage on board. I try the "Toothbrush/pants/socks" challenge. Kudos for having done it on a 50cc! Greetings. (Slovenia seems to be so beautiful!)
For tyre punctures..a spray can with fluid rubber...and a car puncture set...togeter less than 10 euro's. See RUclips for how to do it. And buy saddlebags...can also be cheap...more room and a lower centre of gravity... Good luck with the next tour, from the Netherlands!
I am really enjoying your video. Love your accent. Your English is excellent. The slower you go the further you get. Russian saying. I ride long distances on my Yamaha BWS 50 scooter.
Green with envy. When I was younger I used to long-distance bicycle tour here in the US. That beautiful scooter ensures, just like your bicycle, that you actually get to see the countryside. Thanks and best wishes from Texas!
I totally agree with your last point, these scooters really shine on smaller roads, the same roads that are usually stressful and frustrating to drive with a car
This was great! How right you were to just go with what you had. And the result is a stunning video, thank you. I hope to see more of your motorcycling, on this or larger bikes. Les in UK
Really enjoyed your video 👍 its a great adventure on a 50cc . I planning to make a long trip with a 50cc too. I used to ride 125cc but i think a 50cc is more fun and if you drive slow , you see more 👍☺ Your country Slovenië looks very nice . Beautyfull nature there.. I made some long trips in the past and ride also a Sym before . I never had problems with it 👍
Thank you for sharing this video. It looks like you had a very fun journey and saw some wonderful sights along the way. Glad you made it safely. It really motivates me to do the same thing. I'll be in Italy next month and would love to visit small towns on a 50cc bike/scooter.
I also made a long ass Trip too on a 50cc Keeway scooter, from Würzburg in Germany to Breitenberg near the German/Austrian border and back, a distance of bout 800km both ways via Ingolstadt. Took me approximately 2 days, top speed was 45km/h and i ended up with a sore ass and severe back pain. Was a load of fun though
thanks for sharing your motorcycling adventure, i also have a small bike and i ride it nearly everyday, not for work, just for fun. and thanks for the lessons that your shared.
Great video and good to see a 50cc scooter rather than a 1000cc touring monster. Always carrying some tyre repair strings and a small bicycle pump just in case! I agree touring can be really pleasant on a 50cc scooter especially if you avoid main roads.
I've done the same with my scooter. I mounted 2 bicycle panniers at the side of the scooter with a soft duffle bag on the rear rack. A trip from mid western Germany to Luxembourg, Belgium and Netherlands. It all started with a bicycle road trip to China which extended much longer than planned. Now I'm working again to save money for the next big trip. The important thing is to get out there and experience the world for yourself. Take this experience home and see the world with different eyes.
Thank you very much for the riding tips at the end of the video. Nice video documentary of your solo ride on a 50cc. Again, thanks for sharing. Stay safe.
I was looking for videos of people who rode long distances with 50cc and it sucks that you had to delay getting your motorcycle license. My problem is the opposite: I have a motorcycle license but no money to get a bigger one, so 50cc will do. Best of luck and thanks for your video
Wow that's a little scooter,I have full license so would go for something around 250cc size if I tried a tour on something small, great adventure you had, thanks for sharing
as soon as winter is over im buying a moped scooter whatever u call it i cant wait to git out and about wow true inspiration 50ccs more than enough from what i can see to have some fun
I've recently come back from a 750km ride on my Vespa LX50 2-Stroke to Zurich and back. Every year I do a 3-day-roadtrip on this little scooter. It's a comfortable distance to do 200-250kms a day on a fifty I own other and bigger bikes but I love travelling the slow way. It feels more relaxed, you have to slow down yourself and it is very fullfilling to me. The Vespa is absolutely sturdy, went it's 20.000km and it runs 70km/h (I removed the reduction-ring from the variomatic) so you can go a little faster if you need to... but normally I do travelling by 50km/h which ist much more relaxing. The scooter runs on less than 3l/100km which makes travelling a bargain too. :). Overheating has never been a problem. These Scooters were built to run in warm climate conditions. An advice from me: Don't let you push to the farest right side of the road. This is very risky, not only für picking up some glass as you mentioned, but also because this invites oncoming vehicles to overtake (as seen in your video) and it invites heavy-goods-vehicles to overtake from behind, pushing you to the edge. Even as you're going slow, you have a right to use the full extension of the road. Others may go faster ... when they can!! Keep on travelling this way and thanks for the video. :)
Interested to see this. I’m a bicycle camper and would love to try a 50cc scooter trip. I’m aware they don’t keep up with traffic on fast roads, but I prefer the quieter country roads anyway. Thank you for showing it is possible 🤗
This was an amazing video!! I travel a lot by motorbike, here in New Zealand, but feeling very curious about traveling by Scooter, since they are very cheap here. You are absolutely right, everyone should do at least a bit of dancing, it is great exercise and great fun! if you come to NZ in the future, look me up, me and my friends will take you traveling by motorbike or scooter, in the South Island. There are also some incredibly beautiful bicycle rides! Thanks for the great advice, and beautiful footage of your trips.
Congratulations Igor and I wish you more exiting trips and I hope you will share your new experiences with us :) By the way, you rule in that motorcycle gear :)
This is brilliant, and thank you for sharing it! I am planning a 50cc trip from Javea, Spain to Lake Como, Italy. I'll try to tag you when I make the video...
Awesome. I was at Javea Spain a couple of years ago, in a Coliving / Coworking center Sun&Co. Enjoy the ride, if you come around Slovenia let me know. Cheers

Regardless of the bike size slower always make the experience better. In the Central US a 50cc would be possible but I settled on a 150cc Vespa. Sometimes I catch myself hitting that throttle too hard....fortunately a few bugs in the face remind me how fast I am going. A few years ago my wife and I made the pilgrimage to Sturgis. Our Harley Electriglide was great for blasting across SD at 90mph but once we got there I wished we had the Vespa for the rides up into the foothills. Since the HD has a trailer hitch on it I thought about trailering our two scoots out there. That would have been a sight.
Thanks a lot for this footage.!..What a nice part of Europe. With an outboardspeaker it's like (-: a film. Yes watch back in the mirrors is easy to say.
im hoping to get to benidorm in 2021 from ireland .. i will take the ferry from rosslare or dublin to santander 27 hour crossing then ride from santander to benidom ,, about 650 to 700miles ,, great video .. oh sorry i forgot to tell you i will be riding my vespa 300 gts to spain
very good lesson. I am from India, kolkata. west bengal state.with love from india.myself also a motrcycle traveller. visitd almost many partsa of india with my 200cc bike ,enfield. and now travelling on my honda 100cc bike. now aged 71 yrs. so cannot travel too much. so i enjoy your videos.
Nice 125cc is already a big improvement vs the 50cc. Here they also changed the law now, and you can make a quick exam, drive a few hours and you can drive up to 125cc. The only issue is it is limited to Slovenia only. This is why I later did the complete unlimited motor license, but it was a huge hassle and costs a lot too.
Well done, I came across your account while wandering online Helpful tips and advice and proves if done sensibly, you can travel on small bikes in big journeys,
Thank you, no. I was thinking of taking one initially ... but the moto goes something like 200 km on 1 filling, which is more than enough, considering I was riding in populated areas.
Very nice really ❤️ well done . You past in my area also, cividale but I live on the border with kobarid Slovenia 🇸🇮. I too traveled a lot with my Piaggio zip 50. Nothing really is impossible just as you say don’t rush. For medical reasons also I’m planning to use a 50cc easy simple and if you keep it good will take you to the moon. My compliments ❤️😊🏔
Fantastic video. I've been riding a 500 cc bike all my life but currently enjoying my 155 cc Yamaha scooter more. Hope to ride the whole of my country in it. Greetings from India
How many videos about motorcycle travel have a dance sequence? Cool video..... in Canada it's emphasized to check rear view in mirrors every 5 to 7 seconds. Still, I get a surprise once in a while. Nice video.
How well did it climb hills? I have had a couple of 50cc scooters and a 125cc scooter that would not climb hills at all. The engine rpms would drop going uphill, apparently a CVT does not downshift under load. I had a 49cc Tomos 2 speed pedal moped (made in Slovenia) and a Puch 49cc ZA50 2 speed pedal moped, both of which climbed hills very well. Very slow, but they would drop down into first gear and keep the engine spinning in the powerband. My 2006 Vespa GT200 will climb anything. It slows down slightly on really steep hills. It will hit 80 mph GPS on flat level roads. All my scooters have had tubeless tires, which you don't have to remove to fix a puncture. I carry a couple of bottles of a product called Ride On, If I get a puncture, I remove whatever punctured the tire if it is still in there, and put a bottle of Ride On in the tire through the valve stem. I carry a small portable 12V compressor to reinflate the tire. If the Ride On doesn't work, I also have a tubeless tire repair kit with tire plugs and the necessary tools. And I have a roadside service plan with 100 miles of free towing, and a cell phone. I have a 12V power port on my Vespa so the scooters stator can charge things. I never listen to anything while riding. In fact I wear ear plugs and a full face helmet. I ride to get away from the outside world. My Garmin Zumo GPS can be set to avoid highways. I don't use a phone for maps because my phone is only a phone. It is an early 2000s style flip phone with no internet. I don't use "smartphones" for privacy and security reasons. I'm an old guy (64) and I've been riding for 48 years, since I was 16. I've ridden everything from mopeds to huge touring bikes and cruisers. Now I'm going back down to smaller bikes. But I need something a bit bigger than 49cc, there is just no place you can ride a 49cc in the U.S. without getting run over. I did put over 10,000 miles on a 2007 49cc Honda Metropolitan, almost all of it on the shoulders of rural country roads, where bicyclists ride. But even that is no longer safe. Car drivers pay no attention to where they are going. Many bicyclists have been killed while riding on the shoulders, by "drivers" going way to fast and playing with their phones instead of watching where they are going.
I *love* the fact you just used what you had; a 50cc. It shows that you don't need money and an expensive bike or car to enjoy life. Thanks for sharing.
True. Yes, the most important thing is just to go and do it.
Why would you think that in the first place? Tens of thousands of people ride bicycles around the world.. a 50cc is a luxury compared to that.
@@Mich-G a 125 is not bad for travelling, if its a 4 stroke even better since they're less stressed.
@@Mich-G its all about road safety
if its air cooled then might need to stop every 100km or something however stopping for a moment to rest seems like a good trade off

Awesome trip and a great adventure... Thanks for sharing that ,really enjoyed! 😎
Wow... with 50ccm ?? Respect from Budapest 👍🛵
Congratulations. Thank you for a very good trip.
Here in Spain you can drive a 125cc with car licence.
Great video and nicely edited with lots of interesting scenes 👍
Great video man! Keep on scooting!🤘🏽🔥🔥🔥
I enjoyed the video, i just buyed a 50 cc Vespa and i cant wait for the long trips with minimal fishing gear
I am Planning to do a roadtrip with my aprilia Sxr 50 from Austria to Serbia
What a great video of a very interesting journey. Very well done.
Brilliant trip mate !
woop woop!
Fabulous! Thank you very much .
Well done, I came across your account while wandering online Helpful tips and advice and proves if done sensibly, you can travel on small bikes in big journeys,
Yes, it is totally possible and OK. This time I treated my trip more as a "bike" trip, not so much a motor bike trip, because of weaker engine.
Great trip, you inspire me to plan an overlanding trip Vietnam to Europe.. Keep it up Mr. Donkov.. Cheers from Vietnam
Very interesting movie and trip
NICE experience thanks for sharing i just asking did you need an extra tank fuel in this trip?
Thank you, no. I was thinking of taking one initially ... but the moto goes something like 200 km on 1 filling, which is more than enough, considering I was riding in populated areas.
Pozdrav za Slovenca svaka cast... odlican video.
Evo, ludi slovenac ;) Pozdrav
I like your experience sharing how to keep the safety. 👍
Great trip & a lot of common sense !!
Respect from Australia mate
I've recently brought a 50cc for the same reason! Legend 🤘💪❤
Nice. What are your plans?
I loved it, I first watched this video about a 1 1/2 years ago and loved it then as well! I really wish you would do it again somewhere!?🙏💪🏼
Fantastic video. I've been riding a 500 cc bike all my life but currently enjoying my 155 cc Yamaha scooter more. Hope to ride the whole of my country in it. Greetings from India
Thank you. I have a 150cc now too, I enjoy it very much. Cheers from Slovenia!
How many videos about motorcycle travel have a dance sequence? Cool video..... in Canada it's emphasized to check rear view in mirrors every 5 to 7 seconds. Still, I get a surprise once in a while.
Nice video.
Thank you. I didnt know about that mirror rule .. True, need to pay attention more. Best
