And your engine sounds quieter too. Thanks for taking the time to make the video. I know how much work it is. and I bet you inspire a lot of people to get out and go on a camp out.
Thank you. Sometimes it is good to just get away and slow down, even if only for a little while. Not having an Internet connection for 24 hours is like a detox too! My Vespa is Euro 5 compliant which I think sets a limit of 80db. I seem to remember that it has more sound damping insulation than previous years, but I’m not sure. I’ve never seen the giallo lime in person, but as another commenter noted, the arancio impulsivo does seem to compliment the colors of this area’s landscape.
@@flatgrindrides giallo lime was produced back in 2008/09 for the GTS 250, and it’s not very common,in fact is pretty rare. Yes that orange complements the landscape perfectly…you live in such a beautiful place!
Really enjoying this video! Especially since I've wanted a Vespa since I returned to riding in 2002, but have yet to purchase one. I do enjoy riding my PCX 150, Burgman 650 and Victory sidecar rig...but, thinking the Vespa 300 would suit me better than the heavy weight Burgman. I also appreciate that you chose a minimalistic approach to camping, as I've been working out a camping kit that would allow me enough comforts for a multi day camping trip on my PCX 150...or, the KLR 650 which at the moment needs some service to get back on the road. You're blessed with a beautiful area to ride! Thanks for sharing!🛵🛵🛵
Those are great bikes too. I think for multi-day one really needs to add real luggage. Depends on the climate of course. I guess you could get away with very little sleeping under the stars on a warm beach somewhere… 😉
@@flatgrindrides The KLR has waterproof Nelson Riggs saddlebags and a 40 litre rear/backpack style bag. The PCX has a nice back box, and I have Givi soft saddlebags from my Burgman, along with a 40 litre waterproof Givi bag. I used to tow a trailer which I still have for my Victory Cross Country Tour, but that set up with a sidecar would be an immense footprint, not to mention horrible mpg. I've been in touch with the dealer I purchased our Genuine 50cc scooters from, and upon my return from visiting my son and daughter in law at Fort Rucker in Southern Alabama, I'm going to start comparing the various 300 GTS models available or simply order one in the color I want. As much as the Burgman is a superb touring bike, I really don't tour any more, and when I do, my KLR is set up and ready to go, once I fix the starting problem. Destination Alaska is just a few years away, though it was intended originally for the Victory.
@@njphotoman sounds like you are all set with a number of good options. Of course a shiny new GTS wouldn’t be bad. 😉 Alaska on a KLR sounds pretty sweet too!
@@flatgrindrides There are. I also go to Italy and Croatia sometimes. 2 years ago I went to Italy, Firenze by a 50cc scooter, lol. I also made a video about it here on YT. Best
Nice video. I am planning to do the same, but will take one of my kids with me. I’ll probably add a front rack in addition to the rear rack on my GTS to pack all the gear.
With my back a step through scoot is definitely on my list and I want a quality machine currently eyeballing the green racing sixties model. Really like my biolite gear so a top box for campouts would be a must for me. Like bringing tea also less mess. I am surrounded by campgrounds living right in the middle of two protected Forrest’s but also plenty of camping spots less than an hour away from that but the nicest safe along the Natchaug River closest to me. Sometimes a nice of peace goes a long way to heal all the noise
If you have back issues, the light weight and weight distribution of the scooter should make things comfortable and easy. Just make sure the riding position is comfortable for you. Sounds like maybe you’re in Connecticut? Anyway, sounds like you’re gonna be having some fun pretty soon. 👍
This is beautiful! Trying to figure out if this Yosemite or somewhere just as beautiful as. 👏🏻 great way to show the video! Also is that a 150 or a 50? Im thinking about getting one but I’m not the most coordinated person, but I’m more and more convinced I need one!
It must be nice to be able to leave an unchained Vespa overnight and have it still there in the morning. Unfortunately now in the U.k. scooter theft is rife and our scooters have to be almost in the tent with us for them still to be there come morning.
It is so true. I love traveling by bike, watching the landscape change. It is such a different experience than being in a car. You pass a creek or go into the woods, and you feel the temperature change, and smell the difference in the air. There is nothing like it.
beautiful Vid, can I ask what gloves you're wearing? Also, I'm from Melbourne and never been to the States. Is there any bears around, perhaps coming looking for food or a boiled egg?
Thanks! The gloves are made by Klim. I don’t know the exact model name, but they are a vented glove with plastic (rubber?) armor. There are bears in that area, but I’m not sure how common they are, probably not common at all in that particular campground. That said there are bear boxes, which are big steel boxes for you to put food and things like toothpaste, deodorant, or other cosmetics that are scented in. www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/arp/alerts-notices/?aid=65929
Any chance I can get to know what camera you use to record these wholesome videos and where exactly you put and fix the camera to have these smooth tremble-free clips?
I normally don’t watch people drive down the road. But you are blessed to live in Colorado and Gods amazing beauty. I absolutely love your videos! Great job! I have a Yamaha Majesty 400 scooter which I like but really want to get a Vespa. Probably so t but new but looking at 2010 300 in that range. How do you like the Vespa? What font you like? Thanks
Glad you enjoy them! It is shockingly pretty here. I've only been here a year and every day has been a blessing of natural beauty. I like the Vespa a lot, but it is the only scooter I've ever had, so I don't have anything to compare it to. I suppose it all comes down to what you want and what you value.
I wonder if they would have let you walk the Vespa to your camp site? My wife and I did something similar years ago and the campground manager was fine with it.
I think it would’ve probably been fine. I may do that next time. I didn’t really mind leaving it in the parking lot, as it was quite close, but there is still some risk of theft with a bike that small and light. It would be a real bummer to wake up in the morning, unzip your tent, and find your bike gone!
Great video. Very smooth filming and transitions. Loved the time lapsed section especially. Would this be doable in the wintertime? Or for longer term e.g days or a week?
Thank you! Many of the campsites and areas around here are only open during the summer. This campsite is open from 5/26 - 9/18 and is closed the rest of the year. There are some areas that are open for winter camping, but this is not one of them. You could certainly stay longer if you wanted to, and if you could get a reservation. Some of these campsites are quite busy, and it might be difficult unless you reserve well in advance. In the video description there is a link to the website for information and reservations.
Thank you. No, I like not having a windshield and having “clean” air going past my helmet. I have a windshield on my other motorcycle, so I like this one “naked.”
I presume your voice is being recorded as you ride, though it is so clear it would almost seem to be a voice-over. How are you doing the recording? I am also curious what, if any, accessories you plan to get; in particular, do you plan to add a windscreen?
I’m not planning to get any accessories at this point. If anything, maybe a rack, but I like the clean lines and simplicity of the naked bike. Here’s a video that shows the camera and audio setup: ruclips.net/video/p3JW9ecJ13c/видео.html 👍
Nice vid, I went on my 50cc Kymco Agility 16+ on 60 miles from my home with a tent and i was lucky because it was suppose to have rain but it dit not happened. The Kymco has 14 and 16 inch wheels but does the Vespa only have 12 inch wheels? Had before a scooter with only 10 inch wheels and I dit not like it.
That’s an interesting question. There is obviously a good amount of heat from the engine under the seat. I don’t think it’s enough to pose a risk with the gas canister, but I can’t say for sure. I’m not sure that it’s any hotter under the seat than it is in my motorcycle panniers out in the sun, or even in the trunk of a car. It would be interesting to put a thermometer in there and actually see how hot it gets.
I just did a quick Internet search and it looks like European standard for camping gas canisters is that they be constructed not to leak at temperatures up to 70°C which is 158°F. So I would think this could actually be a concern. Car interiors can get that hot in the summer’s here. I think I’m going to put a thermometer in the under seat compartment and see how high the temperature gets. In the meantime I will put my campaign gas in an external bag. Thanks for thinking about that! Clearly I did not.
Don't know yet. I haven't had it very long. I have heard about people having issues (especially in wet places like the UK), so I will keep an eye on it...
Nice set up if you can fit all of your gear under the seat. Great looking footage! Looks like a good camping site. As long as it doesn’t rain the near by creek shouldn’t be a problem. Your sleeping bag looked small and compact. How comfortable was it? Looks like you called it, the rain did come. Really like your Timelapse. Did you have it shoot all night?
Thank you. The sleeping bag is an REI Sleep Sac that is rated to 55 degrees, so it is very light and compact. I’m a warm sleeper and I find that I’m usually comfortable with less insulation than most. Yes, the overnight Timelapse ran all night long, from just before sunset to sunrise. I used a GoPro plugged into a little portable battery pack with the exposure set to a 30 second shutter and an auto interval, if my memory serves.
One more thing about comfort: That tent is obviously really small, and that was just the second time I had used it. It didn’t breathe/vent very well and there was a lot of condensation on the inside by morning. There were two lines, one on each end, that I didn’t stake out when I pitched it. Next time I will be sure to use them to see if it vents better. I didn’t get cold, but inside the tent got too humid by morning.
@@flatgrindrides I can see that. The real test is how it holds up with rain or wind. Any thoughts of getting a top case to hold more gear if you want to go on a longer trip?
@@flatgrindrides that makes sense. I was wondering how your battery was holding out for so many hours? I have an old school sleeping bag. It fits in my cargo bag but takes up a lot of space. I may have to upgrade to a smaller one if I want to try camping.
@@ScooterwolfsMotovlog It’s done well and rain and wind. The first time I used it was in South Dakota, and we had a pretty good storm come through. As for the top case, I’m not a big fan, so I would probably be more likely to start with a rack and just toss a bag on.
Probably a silly question but do you not fear bears coming to the campsite. I'm Irish so in Ireland we don't have bears but I now live in Latvia and a lot of town dwellers are weary of camping in the forest. PS I love your scooter and came here while looking at vespa 300 videos. After many years of riding bikes and scooters of all types I have settled on the Vespa 300 as my chosen bike
Good choice! ;-) As for the bears, no not really. Here in Colorado there are very few grizzlies, which I would be more concerned about than black bears. The campsites like the one in the video have "bear boxes" where you put food, toiletries, and anything with a scent that might be attractive to a bear. Obviously some areas have more issues with bears than others, but generally it is not much of an issue. Some parts of Alaska I would be packing bear spray and a 44mag or 10mm. This part of Colorado, I'll just take basic precautions and be aware, but I have basically zero worries. I'm also careful not to leave food scraps and such that would "train" *any* wild animals to see to common camp sites as "grocery stores." Sadly, I am usually more worried about human predators than the furry kind with claws.
@@flatgrindrides thank you for your detailed reply. We don't have any grizzlies here but some black bears and of course can't have guns but maybe Ile check out bear spray in my local hunting shop. Yes I agree about the humans are way more trouble than any yogi's
Brilliant video enjoyed your camping and great scooter the vespa i have a 2023 x max look at what you got under the seat lol anyway a new subscriber from England
Hey I was considering purchasing the Vespa 300 but I have a question how does it do with vibrations or buzzy feeling? I have had a few small bikes some are worse than others. Some it’s in the handle bars others the feet. Would like to know before I purchase.
The best thing would be for you to find one to test ride and see for yourself. Your opinion may differ from mine. Personally, I was surprised at how little vibration there is. For example my Yamaha Super Tenere 1200 has more vibration in the bars and mirrors than the Vespa. On the Vespa the vibration seems strongest when you’re at a stop and the engine is idling. Engaging the rear break reduces the vibration. When riding I think it is very smooth with minimal vibration. YMMV.
Beautiful video. You did a wonderful job making the viewers feel as if they were right there with you. I especially enjoyed seeing the terrain as you would ride, as well as the time lapse images at sunset and sunrise. Your minimalist camping setup seemed perfect for your mini adventure.

Vespa is the best!😅
I do this from time to time on my Piaggio Liberty 150cc ;) Cheers from Slovenia
I bet you have some beautiful rides there!
@@flatgrindrides There are. I also go to Italy and Croatia sometimes. 2 years ago I went to Italy, Firenze by a 50cc scooter, lol. I also made a video about it here on YT. Best
@@MrDonkov I’m going to find and watch the video now… 👍
Beautiful trip. I think just the dancing in Florence was worth it. 😉 I’m also guessing that your trips are easier now on the piaggio 150!
@@flatgrindrides Thank you. Yes, much better, quicker definitely, and different. However slow rides have its charm too, but I do not miss it.
Nice video. I am planning to do the same, but will take one of my kids with me. I’ll probably add a front rack in addition to the rear rack on my GTS to pack all the gear.
A front rack is probably in my future… Have fun 👍
As a French, i noticed you got a french knife!
Hard to beat an opinel for simplicity and practicality. Vive la France!
looks like "you made it" i would need and add anyway, a front and back rack for more goodies.
I may add a front rack, we’ll see… 👍
Lucky man
Nice. New suscriber here
Thanks and welcome!
Looks like the interior of BC, I'm in Quebec and want to buy a Piaggio 150 and take up camping too. Have been through every state W of TX.
BC is beautiful
Solo riding with a scenery like that must've been heaven! May i ask what camera did u used man? Keep it up ride safe 🛵
Thanks! GoPro Hero 10
This is beautiful! Trying to figure out if this Yosemite or somewhere just as beautiful as. 👏🏻 great way to show the video! Also is that a 150 or a 50? Im thinking about getting one but I’m not the most coordinated person, but I’m more and more convinced I need one!
This is Northern Colorado, just NW of Fort Collins. Bike is a GTS 300. Good luck! They are fun 😉
It must be nice to be able to leave an unchained Vespa overnight and have it still there in the morning. Unfortunately now in the U.k. scooter theft is rife and our scooters have to be almost in the tent with us for them still to be there come morning.
It’s sad isn’t it? That’s true in some places here too.
All america is worth exploring with bike

Any chance I can get to know what camera you use to record these wholesome videos and where exactly you put and fix the camera to have these smooth tremble-free clips?
I’m using a GoPro hero 10 mounted to the chin bar on my helmet.

@@flatgrindrides appreciate your answer 🙏🏻🌹
How did you manage to get all that under a Vespa seat 😆 good packing and right equipment I suppose
Minimalist load for sure!
Do you ever feel you would like a windshield? Love these videos
Here’s a video that shows the camera and audio setup:

I found the video you linked really interesting. The audio in your rides is especially impressive.@@flatgrindrides
Would have been allowed bring your Vespa down beside your Tent ⛺️…..Just for security?
I think it’s probably against the rules, but I’m not sure if anyone would have come to enforce them…
Nice vid, I went on my 50cc Kymco Agility 16+ on 60 miles from my home with a tent and i was lucky because it was suppose to have rain but it dit not happened. The Kymco has 14 and 16 inch wheels but does the Vespa only have 12 inch wheels? Had before a scooter with only 10 inch wheels and I dit not like it.
This one has 12". Some people do aftermarket 13", but the 12" doesn't bother me.
Was that a GoPro connected to a bluetooth mic?
No, it’s a wired mic in my helmet.

nice video but I haven't seen you bringing any water with you. no chance I would drink unfiltered water from any river
I may not have shown it in the video, but the campground had well water. I have and often use water filters.
Have you tried riding with a passenger for a prolonged time? How's the comfort for them?
Never had a passenger so I can’t say.
Lovely setup
One small question is the gas container not exposed to lots if heat under seat?
Enjoy and thanks
Clearly I did not.
does the bottom of your vespa get a lot of rust problems?.I always read about that.Deciding on getting either a vespa or genuine buddy
Don't know yet. I haven't had it very long. I have heard about people having issues (especially in wet places like the UK), so I will keep an eye on it...
@@flatgrindrides 👍
Go check on your bike guy
Unlucky 13

YMMV.
i have a 2020 gts 300. as below. no sense of any vibration apart from when stopped on tickover which is fine.
Finding a small, one man tent is a bit difficult. Too many big, heavy family tents FFS!
It can be a challenge. I like the Snugpak ionosphere.
If i couldn't bring my bike inside my tent then i would not camp.
Why would you want your bike inside your tent?
It looks idilic.
Beautiful video. You did a wonderful job making the viewers feel as if they were right there with you. I especially enjoyed seeing the terrain as you would ride, as well as the time lapse images at sunset and sunrise. Your minimalist camping setup seemed perfect for your mini adventure.
Thanks!
