Love that color, I’m a fifty four year old who hasn’t had a motorcycle in a few years and somehow found myself watching scooter videos and now contemplating one of these for rides through the countryside . Funny how we change as we age.
I'v been riding motorcycles for nearly 30 years, two summers ago I picked up a cheap Burgman 400 on a whim for fun. Long story short, I've sold my gold wing, vstar 1300, and I'm now on a 2021 Vespa 300; go test ride one!
@@halftanuki I plan on it, nearest dealership is 100 miles away but as soon as work allows I plan on checking them out and may pull the trigger. Thanks for your input.
I started riding motorcycles when I was a kid, beginning with the Honda mini trail 50 when it first came out. I’ve owned or ridden just about every type of motorcycle. I started riding scooters around seven years ago, and I haven’t looked back. I think you’ll begin to appreciate them. ✌️ PS: I’ve owned quite a few scooters.
I'm 63 and hadn't ridden a motorcycle in well over 40 years, but I did a lot of dirt bike riding as a teenager. Ordered the exact same model and color Vespa as in this video back in February, took the MSF course the first week of May this year, got my motorcycle endorsement and the scooter was delivered a week later. I've been having a blast on mine. I've driven in traffic a few times, but certainly prefer the back roads.
I have an older 300GTS. With my top box I can carry up to 6 bags of groceries. I use it to commute to work, weather allowing. It takes 2 gallons to go the 125 miles at 70+MPH. Passing Semi trucks at 75 is stimulating. The seating position is certainly different compared to my motorcycle.. You sit upright with nothing in front of you.... it's like riding a 70MPH bar stool. I have a windshield on mine.. freeway driving is quiet, smooth and weather free.
I’ve always thought that having a Vespa would be fun. They are the quintessential scooter. But at my age, it’ll have to be a dream left to others. Meanwhile, I’ll “ride along” with your videos!
Thank you for sharing your experience with your brandnew Vespa. The GTS 300 is definitely a "must have". I bought mine in 2020, gathered 6'000 miles since then and I think I got a real multi-purpose vehicle with the GTS 300. During summertime I drive to work with the Vespa and I also take it for a longer drive to the Swiss Alps and other beautiful sceneries. My wife bought her own one two months ago and now we often go out in the green for a picnic. Enjoy it!
Nice video, encouraging! I just turned 82 years of age and I bought a 2023 Vespa 300 GTS Super (red) a few weeks ago. Having fun! Seven years ago I sold my Burgman 650 Executive (blue), which I rode for about 12 years. Loved that bike/scooter but it was too heavy for me to handle safely. I put about 56000 kms on it . When I was younger I rode a 650 AJS (British bike) for a few years. I don't think age should be a barrier as long a s a little common sense is used. We only go around this life once. Why not enjoy it? Always loved Vespas from afar, and my wife's recent trip to Italy was a trigger. I finally got one!
My 2007 GTV250i has 33,000 miles. I’ve ridden 6k of those in 2-1/2 years. Gets 60-65mpg on Premium. GTVs have analog instruments. Speedo reads 5mph standing still. GPS confirms 5mph slower than indicated at all speeds. I found that when the low fuel light comes on it will take 1.7 gallons. I have not run it to empty. They are hard to fill without spilling fuel. If you lift the bucket up and support it with the fuel cap, any spillage won’t run into the bucket. Works for me. Best wishes on the new scooter!
2 weeks ago I purchased the grey HPE. I considered the Xmax also. So purchased the AK550 back in November from the Vespa dealer. Couldn't stop thinking about it but didn't because of price (same as you). Now I got it and I'm happy I did it. Got the Faco double screen and rear folding rack. The only drawback that really is bad is the price. Anyhoo, good video. I gotta get my camera out as I've just taken photos and haven't done a video yet. Thanks for the upload and the comments. Edit: I forgot to say congrats on the purchase :)
I’ve had, Harleys, Suzuki 650s standard, Triumph 675r street triples. But my 2015 300 GTS Matte Black is the Cadillac on 2 wheels. Does 80, 85. Comfortable. Gunna put on som new shocks and maybe a more comfortable seat. Has about 5100 miles. Congrats on your new 300. They’re awesome.
Am currently riding a 21 street glide, but will be looking for a vespa 300 in the next two years, for much the same reasons, have been to Fort Collins, stunning place!
Beautiful video. Thanks for all these interesting info about Vespa gts 300 hpe. I am thinking to get one as well. This orange is really outstanding, very cheerful and summery. I will try to get a grigio delicato or a blue one. I am in Italy and there are not much problems of stock here. Wonderful landscape and roads by the way.
Excellent video. You make a compelling argument for a Vespa. Several years ago I bought a 650 Burgman and have been extremely happy with it. I still have a Triumph Trophy that I use in addition to the Burgman. I've loosely considered getting a smaller bike. The Vespa is truly a classic. I really want to ride one one day soon. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it.
Thanks Ken. I've been curious about the Burgman too. The fact that it's a "classic" was certainly a draw for me. It's hard to not think Vespa when you think scooter. I have little experience with other scooters for comparison, but I have been very happy with my GTS so far.
@@flatgrindrides precisely the reason we all should just ride what we like. The Burgman is a great bike but definitely more motorcycle like than scooter like. That aside, the ease of a great CVT makes a great difference between it and a regular bike. The Vespa is truly a classic. I have to look closer at those next time I'm in the market.
I’ve got a 2014 Vespa GTV300 in CA (along with a bunch of motorcycles). In TX, I found a new out of the box 2018 (last year imported) Burgman 650 Executive at a dealer in Houston. The Vespa is fun and the genuine Italian leather seat is beautiful. It even comes with a seat condum in case it rains. The Vespa is not really happy at around an indicated 70mph. The seat while pretty isn’t shaped right for long rides as you tend to slide forward uncomfortably. I did a 250 mile round trip ride with our local Scooter Posse and my butt was killing me so I bought a blow up saddle cushion that I’m going to use for my next extended ride. Obviously, the Burgman is happier at freeway speeds, but for some reason it is NOT as smooth as the Vespa even though it has 2 cylinders. The Burg’s CVT isn’t as smooth as the Vespa’s either. Coming to a stop the Burg’s CVT feels as if the belt hits flat spots and doesn’t want to come down to an idle. I passed on 2 used Burgs because I thought something might be wrong with them. When I took mine for a test ride, I decided the odd feeling from the CVT must just be the “nature of the beast” since it was new and still did it. I should mention that the word on the modern Vespas is that they have front end wobble so you don’t want to take your hands off the grips. I wouldn’t know since I don’t take my hands off the grips while riding.
The fact you are able to sit pretty at 45-50mph on that thing and have SUCH a quiet engine is amazing. It was defo made for those kinds of weekend rides and city darts. The most offputting thing to me about scooters at crusing speed (30mph plus) is the sound that often comes with it. Defo would be interested in taking one of these for a test ride
I have a 2020 300GTS. I think I’m the only Vespa in Parker🤦♀️! I use mine to travel between here and Castle Rock mostly. Every now and then I’ll pluck up my nerve and take the freeway. Not the bravest kid on the block but I do fine. So great to know there are other scooters out and about. At first none of the motorcycles would wave at me but they’ve gotten used to seeing my cute lil pale green Vespa cruising around. They mostly wave now.🤣. Grats on your new ride! Hope you enjoy yours as I do mine!
Thanks very much for taking us along on your ride. The last time I rode a Vespa was in 1961. They were renting them out in San Diego and I really enjoyed the ride. I was serving on the U.S.S. Redfish, SS-395 at the time and frankly wish I had ridden more. At that time the maximum displacement was 125cc and it really didn't seem under powered.😉
I have the same experience with the rear brake being more sensitive than the front. Luckily, ABS is quite effective. Though, I'd prefer more front bias.
your storytelling, your new vespa, very fascinating landscapes from a diffrent country .. all of them was very enjoyable, thanks a lot and have fun with your new bike. subscribed.
I appreciate the video. I’m in the market for a Vespa. I’m 50 and haven’t been on a motorcycle since I was 23. Looking for a slow ride to enjoy the country roads also. You talked me into it. Might go for primavera 150 first.
Thanks! Appreciated your review and notes on the differences between your two wheel experiences. And, I loved taking a ride around the Ft. Collins area. My sister-in-law used to live there, but we haven't been in quite a while. Planning on buying a Vespa 300 HPE too! Thanks again!
I looked at the orange GTS but ultimately I purchased the classic white - I just posted a 2000 mile review of my Vespa. I love the scooter, I don't regret my purchase.
New Jersey here. I have over 100,000 miles on my Vespas in 20 years. Now I gave a piaggio liberty 150. Awesome. My wife has a 2001 Vespa et 4 150. 22,000 miles on it .
It's a beautiful scooter. I have a 2006 Vespa GT200, in like new condition, with just over 14K miles on it. It had 1800 miles on it when I bought it in 2016. I considered buying a new GTS300, but before I could they replaced it with the HPE, and DOUBLED the required maintenance. I found that unacceptable, plus I questioned Vespa's reason for doing it. Was it to make more money for dealer service departments, or did they have doubts about the reliability of the HPE engine? Best of luck with it, and have fun. I'd probably buy one if it wasn't for those 6,000 mile major service intervals.
Yeah, the maintenance requirements change gave me pause too, but I decided to go for it anyway. The replacement items are fluids and filters, belts and rollers, which I would be doing (or at least inspecting) anyway. I guess the big thing is the more frequent valve adjustment interval. That’s more of a PIA, but I guess it wasn’t a dealbreaker for me. Have you heard any horror stories about the HPE engine? I’ve seen complaints about the maintenance intervals but I haven’t seen much in terms of actual problems… If you have I’d love to hear about it. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
@@flatgrindrides Other than a batch of bad fuel pumps (there's apparently a recall) and some people complaining of oil consumption I haven't heard of any issues. A lot of the guys in the UK are complaining of the body rusting below where the battery is located, but I don't think that's unique to the HPE engine models. It's been 1100 miles since my 600 mile service and I haven't needed to add oil yet.
Just found your channel - really enjoying the content. If I may ask you what recording system are you using? I’m planning an across Europe trip next year and it would be great to have the confidence that my recording is of the same quality. Many thanks and keep up the good work.
Small world: I've got a 2012 Super Tenere and recently added a Vespa too after my wife got herself a Primavera 150. Hers was so fun to ride I instantly had scooter envy. I look forward to getting a year's worth of riding out of my Vespa like you have now.
Thank you so much for sharing your great video on your Vespa...I have a Royal Enfield Meteor 350cc and thinking of doing a part exchange to a Vespa so your account on your Vespa was very interesting and gave me a much more in-depth look into owning a Vespa, I have ridden Suzuki, Yamaha, Kawasaki, all small models, but have always liked the idea of having a Vespa, as I live in gorgeous North Wales ( England) we have some great although sometimes have sharp turns to the left and then right 🛵😁 but as you say around town and riding in the crountry would be perfect...we'll see how it goes looking forward. I like watching you ride, just twist the throttle and go as I have been used to bikes with gear shifts..the Vespa being better especially at roundabouts as we have lots of in Britain. 😆 Thank you for all the information Simon..🙂
Very nice video. I have a vespa primavera 125, which ran out of fuel at 206 miles. Mine is white and it's done 42,000 miles. I decided to buy a new scooter and considered a new primavera, but due to the better spec of the Honda SH125i, front and back disks with abs, stop start, keyless and traction control, 16 inch wheels, lots of storage. Pretty sure you don't get this model in the U.S. Your vespa I believe has dual channel abs, not linked braking. If you haven't found him, consider watching Robot at vespa motor sport. Enjoy your awesome vespa!!! I do food deliveries on my Honda and in just over 1 year have done over 20,000 miles. My back tyre was changed at 11000 miles front tyre did 20,000 plus.. My vespa back tyre would need changing at a little over 3500 miles.
Thank you. That a lot of miles and great longevity on the tires. There are so many models we don't get in the US of A... especially the smaller displacement bikes!
My 2001 et4 I bought new. The 1st shipment to the US to the only dealership in America (in LA) at the time. Other vespas and motorcycles have come and gone. I’ll ride my et4 to the grave.
Congratulations on the bike! I have the same scooter in the same color that I got 2 months ago and already have over 1700 miles on it. As far as the octane thing goes, I think octane is measured differently in Europe than the U.S. My understanding is 95 octane in Europe equals 91 octane in the U.S. I've been using 93 octane in mine and have averaged about 68 MPG. The low fuel light on mine comes on when the gauge gets down to the last bar. I usually fill up after about 120 miles. I added the color-matched top case to mine, mainly to store my helmet.
@@rnr1880 When my dealer located my scooter at another dealer (after mine was damaged in shipment) it had already been installed, along with the folding rear rack and medium-size windscreen. Since I was planning on getting those anyway I agreed to keeping them at a small discount. Prior to that I had shopped around and found it at SIP in Germany. Looks like they are still in stock there though shipping is not cheap.
Fun video. Watched this from SF bay area, but recognized the dam on the thumbnail and my wife and I got nostalgic about scooting around foco. We then realized we were watching this on the 8 year anniversary of some (probably) drunk hit and run driver who hit my wife with his pickup as she was on her scooter in front of New Belgium. Stay safe out there!
Nice scoot! I think you'll find a big difference in the fuel economy, depending on how you ride. Anywhere between 70-90mpg (imperial). Beautiful countryside, nice roads. Great video, thanks.
I love vespas and i had my pk50xls back in the 80s, which is my most missed bike ever. Love them but i need luggage space for everyday use and hate topboxes mainly because of how it interferes with handling. I also do a lot of highway and need wind and weather protection. Having owned a Honda Forza 350, i bought a Honda Adv350 which is amazing. Im 53yo and riding since 14yo, and own a big Bmw gs1200adventure. I love scooters for everyday use. Great buy, enjoy!
Great overall review ,thank you for posting 👍they really are stunning in Orange, i purchased a 300hpe supersport two weeks ago . Got a great deal on one that was 3 months old .🤗Subscribed to your channel..👍Greetings from Northern Europe...Harry
Great video, don't take this the wrong way but I just had the most glorious nap watching this video! Thank you for that, I feel refreshed! Great narration.
That orange comes out very pretty on video 👍 EU and USA mesure octane differently 95 (10% ethanol) in EU is basically the same as 87 in USA. In the EU model they only have abs on the front disk, if it's the same on the USA model that's probably the reason to why the rear break feels more "grabby"
I liked your video,I use to ride goldwings for years.i think the more u ride the more u will love it,I quit riding my wings because it was so easy to get on vespa and go everywhere.there are alot of gts vespa that ride across country in the scooter cannonball.
I bought the new Yamaha grand filano for city riding. No regrets. Under seat has a whopping 30 ltr space for shopping & the foot well has enough room for tent & supplies. 150 mile to the gallon what more do you need.
Where would the closest dealer be? Charlotte? I hope you end up getting one, as I think you would really enjoy it. Maybe you could pick up a used one somewhere and not even worry about the dealer. Just a little local shop wrench on it if necessary? Good luck! I had some ancestors in the Spartanburg area, but that was a long time ago, about the time of the Revolution.
I have the 2009 gts250i. I was having trouble starting it after running it, then shutting it down. I had to let the engine cool before it would start. Faulty fuel pump. There was a recall on it so it didn't cost me anything. Vespa stood behind that recall on a scooter that is 13 years old!! Now it runs great and everything works as it should.
great video. thanks. interesting to hear how the gts is for experienced motorcycle rider. stating in gts and suspect i’ll end up on a motorcycle for longer interstate rides. I think most gross owners don’t trust the side stand for more than a few mins. I would recommend the center stand. As for the speedo - think it’s about 7%off. but you were guessing roughly the same speed diff i see vs waze on a phone.
Just did a 1200 mile or so trip this weekend on my big bike. I think the Vespa and the big bike complement each other well. Each is versatile, but better at certain things.
I've owned a number of motorcycles, and have never ridden a scooter. I like Vespa design and the stamped-steel chassis, but I'm not a fan of 12" wheels; even 13" or 14" would be less-concerning to me, but it's good to hear that even with the 12s, it's stable at speed. I need to ride one.
People who have those new Honda scooters have told me that oil changes are basically dealerships because of all the body parts that have to be removed to do the job. I will admit to cutting down a 24mm socket to make it just the depth needed for that oil nut because the space is so tight and I don’t have a motorcycle lift. And those things are not addictive, I now own 4.
Great ride and review! I’ll be looking for that road (Windsor) once I find the new Super Sport in orange! Coming off a big touring Harley will be a different experience, but Looking forward to a scooter for just this kind of ride and around town. I hit one of those deer a few years back in Sturgis. Not a fun experience, be careful out there! Hope to see you on the road!
Thanks! Yeah, I worry about deer more than I worry about other drivers. Sometimes those things appear out of nowhere. And while we’re on the topic of wildlife, what is it about squirrels? About half the time they start out into the road, see and stop, and then run right out into your path of travel and stop again! They can’t really hurt you, but they can make you hurt yourself! 😂 I’ll be watching for the orange super sport. 👍
I've got a yellow GTS 250, bought in 2008...it has 59300 km on it (36847 miles) and I intend to keep it as long as possible..it's a classic and beautiful ride
The gasoline octane numbers are with slightly different but just in numbers. The manual in English still uses the European system. I think the numbers was.. EU 95 = US 91
I been debating on getting a scooter for doing Uber eats and delivery apps as such but I don't know how to ride two wheels, so doing research I found something I could potentially use a tricycle scooter from china that also is an ev ,in some way for a first scooter for me can be good to start with as I learn how to ride two wheels later on
They are probably more expensive, and I've never ridden one, so I can't comment on what they are like, but Piaggio makes the MP3 scooter, with two wheels up front, one in back... www.piaggio.com/en_EN/models/mp3/ Might be worth looking at too. Good luck!
As for the gasoline octane; the Piaggio manual recommends 95 RON which is the European standard for measuring octane. The US uses an average of RON and MON, (R+M)/2. 95 RON converts to 90.7 (R+M)/2, so you're good using 91 (R+M)/2.
The tank meter is not very accurate on GTS 300. I got in trouble once out in the countryside and stopped at a small general store and bought a canister of Aspen alkylate gasoline, purposed for lawn movers and such. I thought the engine ran better, with even better mileage, on that fuel compared to the standard 95 RON with 10% ethanol in it. Unfortunately, the price of Aspen skyrocketed short thereafter. My old new Vespa and I hit a Volkswagen and I got some bruises. Very soon I'm getting an insurance replacement and that baby is going to be fed on premium 98 RON containing only 5% ethanol, the same juice I use in my car with a GM Z22YH engine.
I’m retiring to Chiang Mai this coming summer and was thinking of either a Vespa 300 or a Honda ADV 350 or ADV 160 for the city. It is hard to decide but thank you for the review. I have about 7 months to decide.
That’s a tough decision. I might go for the ADV in Chiang Mai. I suppose it depends on the type of riding you expect to be doing. The ADVs might be better on dirt roads and trips up into hill country. I would also consider parts and service availability and cost. Thinking about Chiangmai is making me hungry! That khao soi! Good luck!
@@flatgrindrides Also considering the price for the GTS 300 cost about $7500 while the ADV 350 is about $5000-$6000, plus parts and accessories. I can’t wait to get there and start riding. I will looking out for khao soi, papaya salad, grilled chicken with sticky rice along the road. Been dreaming about this for many years and finally it is here. Shopping for a bike is exciting and part of retirement. Thanks for the video.
sold the mp3 . and i just got a2022 silversword suzuki burgman400 new had to drive to san bernadino ca to get it . waiting for sunny days to ride . got to gedt use to 2 wheels handling .
As far as the wheels are concerned there is a wider size available but they are not that much wider. But, more contact is better in my book. Went through a very similar experience shopping for an all around town ride and ended up wanting the Vespa despite the price. Saving up as I don’t wish to finance it. I can, I just don’t want too
I heard that you sad theres no Xmax for sale at that point, but it's far better decision to wait a while and take Xmax 300 TechMax. It's far better at wind protection, better at bumpy road because of bigger wheels, you've got heated grips and seat, optioned with Techmax, more comfort seat for you and you're partner at the back. More capacity for stuff below the seat(2xhelmets and room for other stuff). Very good mileage per gallon. Sporty ride, if that can be sad for a scooters. It get a more room for a streching legs.
Hi. I love your video. I am considering getting a Vespa GTS 300 and I love the orange color by the way. Was wondering, I live in New Jersey and commute into New York every day if this is a mode of transportation that would be satisfactory and doable? I’d have to do a out 12 miles of highway driving probably between 70 and 80 miles an hour -and then once I’m in the city it’s mostly stop and go maximum 25 mph. Anybody reading this would love your opinions. I just love the Vespa and I’m hoping that is the right fit for me.
In the city is no problem. The 12 miles of highway at that speed would make me think twice. Some people would do it, others would feel very uncomfortable. Tough call. Maybe there is one you could rent and do a test run to see how you feel about it?
Great video and beautiful roads and scenery. I will be eager to hear your thoughts as you put more miles on it. I’m in my 50’s and started riding 6 years ago on a TW200. Currently I have a 2019 Honda Monkey and love it for its small size, weight and easy handling, but lately I’ve been thinking I’m ready for something a little bigger than the 125. Having to run wide open throttle to maintain 55 gets a little old. I have been looking at various smaller bikes from Royal Enfield and Honda, but haven’t found anything that feels quite right. I’m curious to see if Honda really does introduce the New CL300 and CL500. I think one of those might work, but now I’m wondering if a Vespa might be a good match for me as well. I ride mostly quiet country back back roads and two lane highways that are all 55-60.
I have a TW 200 too and I much prefer the Vespa for road riding. I haven’t tested the top speed on the Vespa yet, but I’m sure it’s a bit higher than the TW with stock gearing. The Vespa is also a bit zippier and just easier to ride around town. The scooter experience is same same but different. If you can find one to test ride you should. I love my motorcycles but I love this thing too.
@@ranman1959 I hope you get the big ADV! Also the whole Honda Forza family is missing in the US, over here in Europe available as 125cc (that's mine!), 350cc and 750cc. On the other hand: I'm really jealous that you have the Trail 125, it's missing here in Germany. But the Dax 125 will be back soon, I think it will also come to the USA. Monkey, Grom and Cub are the same on both sides of the Atlantic...
Thank you. This bike is really quiet and with the mic in my helmet, at higher speeds the air noise is louder than the engine! Also, the GoPro processes the audio to reduce “wind noise” and I think it sometimes removes engine noise “thinking” that it is wind noise.
Hey I’ve been watching a few of your Vespa videos, and recently watched the first service one as I just bought myself a 2025 Gts 300 HPE and I know I’ll have to do that soon. I wanted to ask whats your gas mileage like for your Vespa, I fill mine and it says about 130mpg and my commute to work is typically 45-65mph but I actually feel like I burn fuel quicker than expected.
It’s been months since I’ve done much riding (moved and life got crazy). It’s been a really long time since I actually calculated my miles per gallon, but as I recall, I was getting pretty close to 70 around town. If I did a lot of wide-open, highway-speed riding it dropped noticeably, but I don’t know if I ever calculated it. Congratulations on the new bike! I hope you are enjoying it. 👍
I enjoy your videos and am a new sub to your channel. I’m interested in the 2023 GTS 300 but the dealers in FL want $10,400 out the door. Are they any less in Colorado? Any other owners have a comparison in your area?
I have not been keeping up with the market lately, but looking online a local dealer here in Denver is advertising the 2023 GTS 300 for $8894 (7799 MSRP + 750 freight + 345 doc fee). Maybe some others with experience of the current market can chime in. Good luck!
Scooter West / Vespa Motorsports carries a replacement ring that will give a bit more speed and I think correct the spedo. I am going to have that done at the 600 mile service.
@@flatgrindrides I did the sight glass at my 600 mile service. I've now got over 1700 miles on my GTS 300 HPE and contrary to other reports, mine is not burning any oil. I got the sight glass mainly because I have a lot of trouble getting the dipstick back in, seems really finicky about the angle. I was afraid of it snapping inside the crankcase and causing problems. I might try to find a metal dipstick. It's very convenient to just glance at the sight glass when getting on the scooter.
that was an enjoyable informative ride in a beautiful place. thanks. presently looking into getting that bike here in Florida. every vid I've seen seems positive. Started riding in 1987 on a brand new 1984 Yamaha 180 scooter leftover. then changed to a '01 Suzuki Intruder vs800 till a couple of years ago . will return to my scooter roots to get back into it. Always wanted a Vespa. I see there's a Piaggio 450 - know anything about it?
very nice i have migrated to scooters last few years but always liked them. i was kid in 1960's and those days 50-250 cc was about all available except harley Davidson big boys. i ride a yamaha 125 zuma now and it's great. i don't see anywhere or option to put a rear rack on vespa as i have on zuma,. a must for me for work bag/ grocery getter. another big, zuma has attachment for driver foot pegs to stretch out legs from the floor board deal set up. you have 12 points of interest what about 13, cost? i believe a ton more than zuma so iffy to no switching or adding vesp.
Zumas are nice. They definitely charge a premium for Vespas, no doubt about it. From a purely utilitarian standpoint of function versus cost, Vespa might not come out on top. But, people have been buying Vespas since 1946. In the end it’s a personal choice about what you really want and value.
I typically wear the KLIM Baja S4 dual sport jacket: www.klim.com/Baja-S4-Jacket-4061-000 Or Speed And Strength Call To Arms 2.0 Moto Shirt: www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/speed-and-strength-call-to-arms-20-moto-shirt
What’s the point in watching a scooter zooming along a more or less straight road for mile after mile? Why didn’t he take it around town and through some junctions and traffic lights and a few corners?
At first I thought it might be linked breaking, but then I read that none of the Vespas have linked breaking, only one of the Piaggio branded scooters does. I don’t know, and haven’t really looked into it any further.
Love that color, I’m a fifty four year old who hasn’t had a motorcycle in a few years and somehow found myself watching scooter videos and now contemplating one of these for rides through the countryside . Funny how we change as we age.
Keep watching, then go for it! 😉

It’s funny that you say that. On my ride today I was thinking that it felt like I was sitting in a dining chair!
@flatgrind rides is that a bad experience.
Enjoy it!
Thank you. Sounds like you are in a beautiful place. The alps and the landscape around them is amazing! Now I need to get MY wife riding! 👍
Thank you. I hope you enjoy it and find it easy to handle. I’m guessing you will!
Very enjoyable virtual vespa ride thanks so much from New Zealand.
Thanks! I’m hearing more and more people coming from big bikes saying similar things. 👍 Enjoy!
I put an air hawk seat over my Vespa seat big difference for comfort and I'm 240 lbs 6'2"
Grazie Alfredo. I think you will enjoy it!
I have "grigio delicato" ❤
Thanks Jayne! Hope to wave to you one of these days… 👋
Thank you for your service. I bet cruising San Diego in 1961 on a Vespa was a blast!
I have the same experience with the rear brake being more sensitive than the front. Luckily, ABS is quite effective. Though, I'd prefer more front bias.
your storytelling, your new vespa, very fascinating landscapes from a diffrent country .. all of them was very enjoyable, thanks a lot and have fun with your new bike. subscribed.
Thanks Mustafa!
I appreciate the video. I’m in the market for a Vespa. I’m 50 and haven’t been on a motorcycle since I was 23. Looking for a slow ride to enjoy the country roads also. You talked me into it. Might go for primavera 150 first.
Enjoy! I think you’ll have fun.
Beautiful machine, enough large engine, nice color, classic look. Enjoy your Vespa.
Have an S50, bought in 2010 cuz i was 14 (eu rules). Today it has 600km. And i started driving it again. Its so enjoyable to drive
Thanks! Appreciated your review and notes on the differences between your two wheel experiences. And, I loved taking a ride around the Ft. Collins area. My sister-in-law used to live there, but we haven't been in quite a while. Planning on buying a Vespa 300 HPE too! Thanks again!
Excellent review. Lovely video. Congrats on the new Vespa! 300cc model is perfect power. Great choice.
I don't know where you live but I'm amazed. It seems they build the roads just for you. What a dream.
I'm in Fort Collins, Colorado. This area around Horsetooth Reservoir is such a good ride.
Beautiful bike! Thanks for sharing with us! Excited to get mine soon
Thanks for the video I’ve just bought a 2024 Vespa gts 300 in the same colour
Good choice! 😉
I looked at the orange GTS but ultimately I purchased the classic white - I just posted a 2000 mile review of my Vespa. I love the scooter, I don't regret my purchase.
White is classic. Enjoy!
New Jersey here. I have over 100,000 miles on my Vespas in 20 years. Now I gave a piaggio liberty 150. Awesome. My wife has a 2001 Vespa et 4 150. 22,000 miles on it .
Nice! Love to hear it when people are putting the miles on them. So much better to have them out and ridden than locked in some garage somewhere. 😉
Nice vid. Would be good to hear the start up and clear sound of engine running. It's a fantastic sound imo
Thanks and good luck on your trip!

Small world: I've got a 2012 Super Tenere and recently added a Vespa too after my wife got herself a Primavera 150. Hers was so fun to ride I instantly had scooter envy. I look forward to getting a year's worth of riding out of my Vespa like you have now.
GOOD CHOICES! 👍😂 A man after my own heart. I wish you many happy miles!
Great video. I love the drive and chat style video. Looking for my first scooter.
Thank you for all the information
Simon..🙂
Thanks Simon. Whatever you decide, happy riding!
Sweet! You are really putting on the miles!
Where did you buy the impulsivo orange top case?
Thank you. Sorry about your wife's crash! It is good scootin' around here!
Really good video thx 🙂 omg im totaly in love with the landscape...amazing. lg from aut
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice scoot! I think you'll find a big difference in the fuel economy, depending on how you ride. Anywhere between 70-90mpg (imperial). Beautiful countryside, nice roads. Great video, thanks.
Had a 2018 gts 300 super sport. Sold it and got a 2023 gts 300 super sport! Love it! Best for city and can easily do highway as well.👍🏾❤️
More or less same bikes…….differs 3hp only.
😂👍
That orange comes out very pretty on video 👍
EU and USA mesure octane differently 95 (10% ethanol) in EU is basically the same as 87 in USA.
In the EU model they only have abs on the front disk, if it's the same on the USA model that's probably the reason to why the rear break feels more "grabby"
Ah, didn’t know that. Thanks!
I liked your video,I use to ride goldwings for years.i think the more u ride the more u will love it,I quit riding my wings because it was so easy to get on vespa and go everywhere.there are alot of gts vespa that ride across country in the scooter cannonball.
Thanks Charles. I just recently learned about the cannonball. Might have to add that to my bucket list!
Regarding the brakes, I saw that Vespa have done a recall on one of the reviews of this scooter.
It addressed exactly what you mentioned.
Thank you! I will give my dealer a call.
I bought the new Yamaha grand filano for city riding.
No regrets.
Under seat has a whopping 30 ltr space for shopping & the foot well has enough room for tent & supplies. 150 mile to the gallon what more do you need.
81 years old here and REALLY want a Vespa 300 HPE, but with a top case and windshield. Sadly there are no Vespa dealerships in this state. (SC)
REALLY NICELY DONE REVIEW. THANKS!
Scenery/landscape, this scooter and the colors, all class A! Thank you very much, your video is like a little holiday!
Glad you enjoyed it!
nice just got a 50 touring there great planning on getting a 300 or 150
Best scooter for the money... I own 2 currently) a Sei Giorni 2019 and a GTS Super 300 Racing Sixties.
Nice video, views, and very cool scooter. Great colour.
Nice video. I just bought a 2023 Super Tech. Yeah my speedo reads from 3-5 mph faster than I am actually going. Kinda annoying.
That’s great that they did that! 👍
great video. thanks. interesting to hear how the gts is for experienced motorcycle rider. stating in gts and suspect i’ll end up on a motorcycle for longer interstate rides.
16:05 Octane numbers in EU and US are different. Europe uses RON octane number, USA is using AKI.
It handles better than I expected it would.
Nope, not addictive! 😂👍
Nice video & good Vespa. Thanks for sharing.
I’ll be watching for the orange super sport.

Orange is awesome. I have one too. Get bar-end mirrors.
Nice scooter. I have the same 2022 in grey.
Don’t ride the tank untill emotie. They are very sensible with the pumps.
Good luck!
I might go used on a Vespa-can't afford new. Orange and yellow are the best visibility colours.
what a nice ride sr!
Adv/Forza 350 all day long
sold the mp3 . and i just got a2022 silversword suzuki burgman400 new had to drive to san bernadino ca to get it . waiting for sunny days to ride . got to gedt use to 2 wheels handling .
Burgmans are a nice ride! Hope you enjoy it! 👍
I subbed and am binge watching !
Thanks! Hope you enjoy!
As far as the wheels are concerned there is a wider size available but they are not that much wider. But, more contact is better in my book. Went through a very similar experience shopping for an all around town ride and ended up wanting the Vespa despite the price. Saving up as I don’t wish to finance it. I can, I just don’t want too
I bet you’ll be happy with it. Good luck!
Nice colour, but where is the footbrake?
Opposite the shift lever. 😉
I wish Honda would bring the ADV350 to the U.S.
Hi! Nice bike. What is camera did you use to record this video?
Helmet Cam

How come we're not hearing the Vespa engine? We just hear air? I love the Safety Orange color. You live in a beautiful area too.
Thank you. This bike is really quiet and with the mic in my helmet, at higher speeds the air noise is louder than the engine! Also, the GoPro processes the audio to reduce “wind noise” and I think it sometimes removes engine noise “thinking” that it is wind noise.
Hi mate, you guys have nice roads up there. Cheers.
oh she's a beauty. thanks for the video
I have a Triumph Tiger 1200 XCA and I'm looking for a scooter. Must be nice not having to pull a clutch in and gives you a free hand.
It’s kind of like cheating!
Great video! So I just ordered an action camera and was wondering how you connected your audio? Is it a wired or bluetooth connection? Thanks!

@@flatgrindrides Ahhh... perfect, thanks!
We have a good friend that owns a dealership and I am tempted every time I stop in there. I just don’t have room for another bike.
Sounds like if you ever decide to take the plunge you’ll get a good deal! 👍
If I had a good friend that owned a dealership, I would need another good friend to build me a new garage for all my bikes!!
Beautiful orange!!
Can you tell me your mic setup? Sounds good.
That will be the subject of my next video!
Hello Port Coulbourne, long time no see, use to live in Thorold ;)
I do like the color with the chrome.
Yes, I’ve been thinking about that too. They also sell the oil pan with the integrated sight glass. I think that would be a nice thing to have too.
@@flatgrindrides Thanks for reminding me of the oil sight glass option, that might be nice to have.
It's very convenient to just glance at the sight glass when getting on the scooter.
great ride!
that was an enjoyable informative ride in a beautiful place. thanks. presently looking into getting that bike here in Florida. every vid I've seen seems positive.
Sorry, I don’t know anything about it. I’m new to the scoots, so I’m learning myself. Good luck and enjoy!
very nice i have migrated to scooters last few years but always liked them. i was kid in 1960's and those days 50-250 cc was about all available except harley Davidson big boys. i ride a yamaha 125 zuma now and it's great. i don't see anywhere or option to put a rear rack on vespa as i have on zuma,. a must for me for work bag/ grocery getter. another big, zuma has attachment for driver foot pegs to stretch out legs from the floor board deal set up. you have 12 points of interest what about 13, cost? i believe a ton more than zuma so iffy to no switching or adding vesp.
Zumas are nice. They definitely charge a premium for Vespas, no doubt about it. From a purely utilitarian standpoint of function versus cost, Vespa might not come out on top. But, people have been buying Vespas since 1946. In the end it’s a personal choice about what you really want and value.
Vespa's have pretty large top boxes available in matching colours.
Would you please pass along the specs for your riding jacket? Thanks...
I typically wear the KLIM Baja S4 dual sport jacket:

@@flatgrindrides Thanks much!
What’s the point in watching a scooter zooming along a more or less straight road for mile after mile? Why didn’t he take it around town and through some junctions and traffic lights and a few corners?
Different strokes for different folks. 🤷♂️
Thanks for a great review. How it’s cornering and stable on a highway despite “12” wheels?
Thank you in advance
I would say pretty good, especially for 12” wheels.
I have always wanted Vespa Scooter. But the price made me end up with Yamaha. Btw that is a beautiful road/place to ride.
When you pull the left break lever it pulls both front and rear breaks that’s why it feels more grabby than the front break.
I own the same model and year (and color!) scooter in the video and am 100% sure the Vespa GTS 300 does NOT have linked braking.
They have independent brakes.
At first I thought it might be linked breaking, but then I read that none of the Vespas have linked breaking, only one of the Piaggio branded scooters does. I don’t know, and haven’t really looked into it any further.
