The EASIEST way to do modern trim work! Do you think it helped modernize our space?
100%
absolutely ❤
Yessss! Love it!
Baseboards and trim are something most people don't think to change but it really affects the space overall. Looks great!
I agree!! They are so overlooked and easily date a space!
Noone thinks about the trim unless you're doing a full reno. I think it turned out great and ties in beautifully with your home decor and style. I like the slow motion walk pass the camera and the runway walk down the hall. Thhe designer making his way after the project is revealed 😁👏🏼🙌🏼🔫🚪
Thank you for noticing my slow mo shots!! I'm slowly learning some more videography tricks, lol. But he definitely deserved those struts at the end!
It literally makes the home look so much newer and fresher!!
Oh my word yaaas! Makes SUCH a huge difference!!
Didn't know about the bullnose part of the trim! Thank you so much for share, looks great!
Glad it was helpful!
LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! Very Detailed & Just What I Needed.
Glad you liked it!!
You both are amazing ❤
Thanks!
Beautiful! I'm doing the exact same re-do right now, thanks so much! I have the same floor, cute Dog!
Thank you! 😊
Turned out great!
Agreed!! 🙌🙌
Great work!
Thanks!
Looks good. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching
Beautiful home.
Thank you!
Looks fantastic …
Thank you!! Made such a huge difference in the hallway here!
Thank you Perfect timing!!!! Do you have one for Modern Trim for Windows?
gorgeous
Hi.. I love this!! and
I love your floors!! What brand and color are they ?
looks great, and the info about the bullnose corners was exactly what i needed. What kind of doors are though? Super contemporary and I’d like to get more info about them.
Hello, glad it helped. The Doors are from Metrie and are called Melrose 🙂
Looking great! Quick question about dust on top of the baseboard. How often do you clean it and how? I’m thinking about adding the same style
We probably don’t clean it often enough 🤣 Once a month is honestly plenty - same as any other baseboard style really. Just warm water and whichever cleaning product you use at home.
Looks great ! A couple of questions for your. Did you pick MDF or wood baseboards for non-wet areas? Also, is the flat (modern) stock easily available at the big box retailers or did you have to go to a lumber / builder supply store? Thanks and keep up the great work
We used MDF. The flat stock is available at all our local stores as far as we know. We found them in a bundle (like 6 x 8' boards or so) . Thanks so much for watching!
Glad I found your video. Im about to redo trim and paint same color white trim, walls & ceiling. Do you know the color of white you went with? Thanks
It was custom colour matched to the existing baseboards of our house. It was a creamy white colour :)
It looks amazing! Is there really still snow in Canada right now? Or was this filmed awhile back?
😂😂 I wondered who would notice that! That part was filmed at the end of April, but we have had snow in early June before 😬
at 2:40, better to pry from the outside and damage the drywall that will be covered by the larger new trim that to dent/damage the frame of door and have dents
Thanks, great tip :) Thanks for watching.
Nice work. Modern flat trim is the way to go. My only two cents comment: wear a mask! That powder is not good on the lungs.
Great point!
OMG SO MUCH NICER IM SO JEALOUS (upper case intentional)
Right, its all in the small details to finish off a space!
Does the new trim have eased edges? the 5" baseboard and casing?
Yes. The softened side is always to the top (away from the floors and doors).
@@LindiandRuss Thanks! Putting in an order for about 3k worth of pine trim from a supplier and debating whether to use the 9/16 that has an eased edge or just the standard 3/4 with straight/sharp edges.
Did you use a finish nailer or a brad nailer?
Brad nailer - we linked it in the description :)
@@LindiandRuss whoops missed that, sorry! Thank you!
Thanks for the tips.
I noticed you used the same thickness for the casing and baseboard. This is what I did in my old house before. However I have been reading and didn't know that casing should be thicker than baseboard. Is this really true? Or just a preference?
For me I like to have the same thickness to blend it all in. But a contractor might have a different opinion. It would be quicker to have slightly thicker casing around doors and then butt the base casing against it. This will hide a bit more imperfections. If you run the same thickness you need things to fit up better to get it all lined up and looking professional. (in my opinion)
What he said’
It’s opinion if u do same thickness which I did you just need to take after care when installing you may need to shim but I think it looks cleaner with same size over having casing thicker than baseboards
Did you guys use MDF or Pine?
MDF
When you say 5" highn is it actually 4.5"? Did you buy it from Home Depot or Lowes?
Are the baseboards expensive
Really depends on the style you choose, the flat stock shown in this video is fairly economical to purchase.
Obviously not for a beginner to understand
Got to start somewhere, we just dive in and try it 🙂 The flat stock moulding is super easy to work with!
