Love these! Just been delving into your explanations but grew up working out guitar/drum parts to fav songs in my teens in 90s and RATM are one of the best!

An observation I mainly play to recorded music. I like to fit into the music and I get great joy from attempting to play TooL. That being said it's hard to hear or play along to because of the way it's mixed. Has anyone noticed that many times cymbals are very low in the mix. And we drummers have some very loud cymbals.Longtime drummer from Yes Alan White went to 14in. Crash cymbals to reduce stage volume and microphone bleed. Have fun play drums

You need proper technique for 16nth Kick drum notes. She has a great video about It already so check It out

Double strokes! But the technique is way different to the one you would use for your sticks. To nail a double stroke with your kick pedal, you kind of have to slide your foot from a sideways angle as you're bringing it down. I know that probably sounds a bit awkward so look up some videos on it and you'll actually be able to see how it works. It's actually much, much easier to get the hang of than stick doubles (or at least, I found it to be) but just be careful your spring tension isn't too high or you could hurt yourself.

Yeah kinda… I guess dude is more linked to surfer culture and that idea of coolness or being laid back in its origin? Mate is I guess more working class in its origins? It’s also more varied in how you use it.
Hey mate - could just mean you’re saying hi to a friend.
Hey mate! - could mean also you’re starting a fight in a bar. Not sure many bar fights start with someone shouting ‘hey dude!’?
If you’re Australian there’s about an infinity of different ways mate can be used as well
