I have been a member of USAA for 37 years. USAA is good. I plan to try out my debit card when I visit Manila for Christmas. My Chase Visa credit card works great for purchases. In Manila I like the St Giles Hotel. For travel I would download the Grab app for taxis(equivalent to Uber or Lyft). Medical care for veterans is only available for pre existing conditions at the US Embassy VA clinic in Manila

USAA will reimburse your first ten ATM withdrawals per month, but you're only visiting for a month, so that's a none issue. I exclusively use Metrobank ATM's when I need to get cash from an ATM.

4+ hour scooter ride, wow I bet your bums hurt in the end. Anyway how cool was that interview with Gio and his way of life. Looks like a chill dude and that is how he wants to live a SIMPLE LIFE. Each to their own and happy for him and his whole in law family. Yep, I got a USAA and NFCU and both are best for military veterans and their families. Good idea too meeting the local Barangay Captain and officials. Mike, I just got my 13A VISA from the Philippine Embassy in Washington, DC for our big move to here in 10 weeks. I might have missed it, did Gio get a 13A as well? He mentioned submitting paperwork but wasn't sure if it was a 13A. I ask because of the onward ticket as well, which I will get but have heard you do not need. Will check out Gio's channel and TIA.

Getting all my ducks in a row before coming over. As time gets closer I would like to chat sometime as I get closer to coming over. Mike has a big enough Bike his Nmax 160 is like my ADV and if you take 1 or 2 stops then you are Golden as Here in the Philippines the Highway speeds are slower so going 73 miles at 50-80 km per hour (50mph max) takes allot longer and here the Main factor is Trafffic and congestion so a trip in US that takes 1 -2 hours is 4-6 here but you get to slow down and smell the roses and look at beauty surrounding you

@@JenGioPhilippineJourney ,., This is for Gio,.,., I hear that you mention doing SRRV, but you're married to a Filipina, So doing a 13A visa for being married to a Filipina is better and you only check in to immigration 1 time per year ( just like SRRV). But SRRV will cost you 3K USD for the most favorable amount with DD-214 (certified) and you must earn more than 1000 USD from retirement. If your retirement is less than 1K per month then your SRRV will cost 10K USD. Any way please look in to it. Take care and good luck.

If I had to question myself whether I'm gonna survive abroad, I'd rather stay back home, where I have a family, relatives or friends, who I can count on if needed. Who's gonna help you far away from home, where you just arrived, and don't know anyone?
