Good that the main important part of how to prep the hole for repair like cutting the extra debris away, what to actually do, what not to leave there, how far out to cut from the initial damage, etc.... all that sped up to make room for silly movie clips to be put in to a door repair video
I’ve seen a few vids on this issue and this is HEAD AND SHOULDERS ABOVE the rest. I esp appreciate the wacky interjections which help liven up an otherwise boring repair. I APPRECIATE YOUR EFFORT and vid making intelligence!!

Great sequence of steps and easy to follow. Bondo is remarkable once you get used to it. Consider masking off the immediate area next to the hole with frog tape. You won’t have to do so much razor blade scraping.

excellent fix for cheap doors. the only thing I hate worse than cheap hollow doors is trying to replace them because have to replace the entire frame. replacing just the door NEVER works.

Ty, so true. It is SUCH a headache and takes a ton of time to pull the trim (with care to not damage the paint), remove the frame and put a new one in. Of course you can just buy a door to replace, but then you also have to route out the hinge locations, cut the door holes...Not to mention all the painting of the entire door AND the frame, and touching up the trim. Of course it can all be done, but those are hours of work and specialized tools in many cases.

Can’t tell you how many times I’ve got that foam on my hands. It’s nearly impossible to get off, So now I always wear latex gloves when working with that and polyurethane adhesives.
Thanks for adding that. I do hate when that foam touches ANYTHING but it’s intended target.

Yes. The hardener will come with the rest of the Bondo. It will be a big can and a small tube.

I know for a fact that spray foam will spread that hollow door skin if you spray to much foam. The card board liners prevent the foam from expanding through the interior of the panel. This is dangerous because once you do this there is no fix for a pregnant door.

True story, you should never try to fill the door. The nice part is that if you have a hole you are spraying this into there is room for the foam to escape back out. I have done this dozens of times and not once have I had it pop the panel off the door.

Hi, thank you for this video. What kind of white paint I should use on the builder's level white door?
Generally on doors and trim you use a semi gloss or you can use a gloss - if its existing try to match it. The higher gloss paints have more enamel so are harder and can withstand more abrasion than flat, eggshell, and satin.

Remember I changed the profile in the video too. It hits on the rectangle side rather than the circle side now. And I added a second to increase surface space.

I have a question I had a towel hook that ripped out of the door would the spray foam be strong enough to reattach The hook after the repair?

Hello sir I have similar kind of door with the pattern and yesterday i saw a miner dent on it like a spoon size pressed inside it's not even coming out it it's back place what I can do
Pooja, dents are interesting and frustrating! Unfortunately you may need to make a bit more damage to make it good again. It’s hard to say without seeing it. Were I in your position I might try making a small hole in the center (leave enough to put an L-shaped Allen key in) and try pulling it back into place. I would still fill the vacant spot through the hole with foam as it will almost certainly want to return to dent shape. Then patch the small hole.
Conversely I would cut out the dent as though it really were a hole and follow the instructions in the video.

just mix up some hot mud
Chente, not a bad option. Hot mud can also be mixed in small batches.
For those who don't know what hot mud is, it is a chemically dried drywall mud. It shrinks less than traditional drywall mud and dries SUPER hard. Just be aware this can create a sanding challenge. So make sure your application is thin and flat. Additionally it may help to prime the surface around the repair area with Kilz as hot mud (it does get hot) can potentially burn through latex paint. Additionally the aggressive sanding on the edges of the repair may "eat up" the latex paint.
@@diywithconfidence ok now u sound a bit crazy with the burning of latex paint. Hot mud is named for some heat generated after mixing your pan gets warm after a bit and also that it goes off and dries faster then regular mud. As so to git r done. As far as standing is concerned if you know what your doing and know your product with moist sponge at the right time you shouldn't ever have to send. I've been finishing for 30 yrs and I never have to sand and I'm TOP SHELF as it gets. Good video though

Why bondo over wood filer
Matt Ryan, thanks for asking. Bondo over the foam filler because the vacant hole in the door is WAY too large to fill with Bondo. It will have nothing to hold to, and it is too viscous-it will fall right into the door space.
Bondo is excellent to fill in and even out, but poor in open gaps. Think of how when it’s used on a car bumper or boat if there is too large of a gap one backs and fills with fiberglass. Same idea here. (The fiberglass also creates rigidity and strength.)
