Tiger did an in person demonstration at The Tiger Woods learning center in about 2000. The camera man was 50 yards in front of him facing him. Tiger said, “I’m going to draw it from right to left right past his left ear… and he did it. unbelievable
Your story makes me think of this Bruce Lee quote "Do not fear the man who knows 1000 techniques, but fear the man who has practiced one technique 1000 times"
If there’s a perfect golf swing, Tiger’s during the late 90’s to early 2000’s was the closest thing. It’s so powerful and consistent and yet so fluid and beautiful to watch at the same time. The impact sound that he made was entirely different than the rest of the guys on the tour.
I love the swing of the Tiger because it's easy to understand and, most importantly, its for longevity. Now the modern swing focuses more on body rotation; too much hip rotation can cause later on back pain and injury as you grow older. Most of them they like modern swing cos it's cool to watch and trendy. #Tigeralltheway
Funny you asked. I was just thinking is this where Malaska got that move from. Now I give it more credibility. I’ve been doing the Ole move because of Hogan and having a hard time squaring the face. Unlike Hogan, I don’t fight a hook!
Malaska watched this on TV when the show aired/rebroadcast, like every other Golf Channel-addicted amateur was, too. GC was fairly new and amateurs felt like we died and went to heaven when we could get FREE lessons from some of the world's best teachers! Remember, there was no such thing as Utube at the time.....
Watch Couples, Furyk and Trevino swing and it's obvious that what Lee said is true...swing don't mean a thing. Hogan was once asked who had the best looking swing he ever saw. His answer was some guy on the range in Florida. I have no idea who he was.
I can listen to Tiger all day. He is a GOAT like J. Nicholas who is a GOAT ( both in their own time- and yes Jack had the record to go with it in the majors-18).
I think one of the biggest mistakes tiger made is that he kept getting bigger. Bulking up puts a lot of stuff in the way of your swing. 180-190 was his ideal weight for golf. Can’t believe he ditched Butch. Would have been amazing to see where he would have gone if they stayed together.
Butch was the beginning of the end for tiger. His natural swing the ‘olé’ was perfect for his 150 pound skeletal frame. The amount of weight he was forced to put on to be able to accommodate his new swing started all the injuries.
This is 100% the Joe Nichols/Malaska swing. Keep the club outside the hands, set the wrists a little earlier, externally rotate the right arm, tip the club out from the top to "arc it off" and go like hell, swing the club with the arms hard with very little face rotation relative to the swing arc. Easy swing to make, consistent and very accurate.
Tiger's drop of the arms in his downswing steepens the club. That's fine in my swing too as long as I rotate and get out of the way so to speak. If I didn't, the ball would never hit the fairway.
It's because they don't ever mention that these are his feels. Butch said it briefly on the backswing. He said what you feel is getting the club up faster. He has to feel like he's dropping the club straight down in front of him to achieve a tiny change in his swing.
You can debate GOAT status until you are blue in the face. I happen to land on Nicklaus. But it would be hard to imagine anyone ever playing better than Woods in this part of his career.
I know Jack has a few more majors but the two reasons I give it to Tiger is the cut streak and 4 majors in a row. Those two things will never be duplicated.
@@washredskin887 and the fact TW won the US Open by 15 shots and the Masters by 12. IMO it’s more impressive to beat everyone by miles rather than inches (TW Stan)
No golfer has ever swung the golf club better than Tiger did in 2000. Yet Butch and others managed to ruin that swing. As a result, injury after injury, putting unnecessary stress on Tigers, left knee, broke his leg, and damaged his lower spine(multiple operations) Please dont take Butch's word for anything.

I love tigers growl while in slow motion. I never heard him do that before until now.
😂😂🐅 🐯
Tigers are the only cat that can't pur. Not even when little kittens
*I reminisce about those days with great fondness, so genuinely candid!*

So humble to share techniques
Must watch TWICE ☝️
Definitely remember this video. I watched it on Golf Channel 😂 long time ago~
Love the baggy slacks.
Slow speech sounds like a tiger roaring and purring lololol.
why are you watching this on slow speed?

Hunting for majors.
Wow the Malaska move!
And this swing was soon gone, as were so many others, this man and tyson the goats

I agree. simple, precise and practical.
How good does Mike Malaska feel when he watches this video...Tiger discribing getting the club out in front while he makes "The Malaska Move"!
Exactly, except he doesn't teach the hold lag release, no wonder he got injured
Amazing that everyone is teaching this shallow the shaft garbage that applies to almost noone lol

Ok ok, so ignore every video i have been looking at talking about hips and focus on bringing hands in front of the body
This video is so gold!
I hate this sport

Lmao what are you talking about? Tiger dominated 2000s with Butch’s training
@ if hadn’t hit the gym and gained all that weight he would have won over 30 majors by now.
Love how at 1:45 they make fun of pretty much every Insta Golf Pros obsession with "shallowing".....

You can really hear the predator in him in this video, now you know why they call him Tiger. Just a beast.
I think his name is Tiger thats why they call em tiger
Ole did it for me
@2:10 What it would sound like if you where getting a golf lesson from an elephant.
Hmm, interesting. Wasn’t his 2000 season one of the best golf season anyone ever had?
