It's so nice to see this step by step! I just bought this and sometimes it's difficult to follow written directions. Now I just have to wait for my tank to arrive! Thanks for this video!
Thank you very much for a beautiful video which inspiring me I watch three times!! I’m cycling tank now my results almost the same as yours I am at day 11 and my ammonia is2 ppm no nitrites and nitrates it’s very high my question is should I wait it out or do a water change thank you very much
day 9 add fish? the tank has 1.0ppm of ammonia, nitrite 1.0ppm and sky high 160ppm nitrate. That would kill most fish. Least you were smart enough to wait it out and then do a water change
Absolutely a beautiful and informative journey towards having a safe/beautiful tank. My only and only thought on this process was...She added a lil too much Amonia which extended the cycling process for such a small tank, but again...the results are amazing. Well done
could you give us an update on that tank after so many months now? did you get a algae bloom after you turned the lights on still? did you have any more spikes in ammonia or nitrite after adding the fish/corals? Great video though, thanks.
This is the best video out there to use this type of liquids/bacteria in a bottle. I've used almost all of the brands and they all have a similar effect. However I don't use them. I prefer after a few days I add hardy plants or corals or algae depending on the aquarium. And I leave it like that for months and then I add some fish or invertebrate. So, good job! 😊👍
I think I got a bad batch! I noticed yours came out an orange color. I seem to remember mine being clear and no smell at all! Did yours have a smell. I remember thinking I felt like I just put in water so must not have been orange. the water did turn cloudy. i am on day 6 and my nitrites have been continuously stuck on 0.25 since day 3! I checked for nitates and I do have them so thats a good sign! I remember my first tank took I think 2 1/2 with no bacteria other then live sand. I had to leave the tank along for weeks because of a family emergency. I should have added Dr Tims when I got back home but I wasnt in a hurry like now so I waited it out months and I was showing nitrates early on as well! I might have screwed up though because I detected some ammonia b4 I added it. I read later on not to add untill you have 0 ammonia! my ammonia has been stuck on 4 maybe 5 at first and havnt added anymore, I ordered some fritz turbo start which I should have in the beginning, they have much better reviews! Did you go through an ugly stage and how long before you turned lights on? I am anxious to transfer some high end zoas from my other 2 tanks. This is a 20 gallon frag tank and I also have no sand and just rubble and rock so could be taking longer for that reason. Do you think I should do a water change with ammonia so high? Someone said Dr Tim said to do one if over 2 ppm! Great video! Thanks for sharing!
I was under the impression the bacteria in the bottle and the one that comes with live sand is counterproductive to each other.?? I was told if I use the bottle not to use live sand 🤷♀️
Hello my. I have been watching your video again again and again. Because I am doing the same. Day 6 and my amonia still 2.0. Two questions for you. Did you turn on your skimmer after 48 hours starting the ciclo??
How come I follow this exact same thing and I get totally different numbers? The ammonia get processed very quickly. But I get huge nitrite levels and little to no nitrates… it’s been a month now…
I set up a 36 gallon tank yesterday with dr tims one and only and i didnt use anything to kill the chlorine, until today 24 hours later, do i need to put in more of dr tims?
My api test kit Is showing 8ppm of ammonia and my salifert test kit is showing 0.5 ppm of ammonia. I’m so confused. Gonna try Red Sea ammonia kit and see where I’m at
@@lelongg2588 I think the goal is to go from 4PPM ammonia to zero ammonia and zero nitrates within 24 hours, so you should redose the ammonia if it’s at zero but you still have nitrites. Once you get them both to zero in 24 hours, cycle is complete and you should do a big water change to get your nitrates in the safe range. Can add fish once water temperature and parameters are appropriate (including pH).
@@aimeecoleman888 the issue is everywhere you read it says high nitrites stall the cycle. So when I already have high nitrites which I get right back after the first dose of ammonia after water changes I hesitate to add more ammonia. The problem is if 5ppm of nitrite stalls a cycle, I have to do almost 100% water changes every day. It’s sooooo confusing. So many places say if you’re high nitrite it will stall your cycle, others say just keep dosing ammonia til it eventually drops one day. But if I’m worried about it stalling, how can I just wait weeks for it to drop not knowing if it’s stalled and I’m waiting for no reason? I guess what I’m asking is do I just ignore the high nitrite stalling myth? Just continue to dose ammonia until not just it by the nitrite drop as well? I’m literally doing 90% water changes and STILL have high nitrites, and that’s with only dosing 16 drops of ammonia in a 10 gallon tank…..
The cycle is a process. First ammonia is added. That ammonia then converts to nitrites and the nitrites convert to nitrates. You're still at the start of the cycle if you have ammonia with no nitrites. When nitrites increase and ammonia decreases you'll know you are progressing
I stall my cycle :( what to do to reset the cycling do I need to remove all water?? and start over? what about the water left on my canister?after removing water on my tank Please help :(
i dont understand how your tanks bacteria works so fast. i did this exactly the same and my 250 g2+ stalled. even after a 50% water change im in between 2-5 ppm nitrite. hopefully it levels out 2 days tops
I'm on day 7 of Dr. Tims fishless cycle in a heavily planted tank and the ammonia and nitrites have remained at zero. Nothing is happening. Whats wrong? I'm so frustrated. In this same tank i tried a fish in cycle and the fish (guppies) they lived about 3 weeks then the all died almost overnight. I never had any ammonia or nitrites then either. Suggestions?
Hi, you still have to monitor your tank, because it’s not established. Bacteria can die off , as quickly as they produced… After 6-8 months aquarium is really safe.
It's so nice to see this step by step! I just bought this and sometimes it's difficult to follow written directions. Now I just have to wait for my tank to arrive! Thanks for this video!
One year later how's the tank going? Still in the hobby?
super helpful vid, thank you!! it’s tough to find in depth day-by-day updates for beginner cycling so seeing how all the levels develop is great info
This was outstanding. Thank you for taking the time to make it
Thanks! I love the Ammonia dose and 24hr test to make sure it is a solid cycle!
Just started the Dr tims fishless ... first time reefer and you helped me out a lot with the tutorial ..!!!
Great video! Very informative and helpful as I am in the middle of doing my fishless cycle right now.
I love using Dr. Tims. Tanks cycle so fast too. Awesome documentary!
That was awesome 👏
Thanks for going into so much detail, very helpful.
Thank you for sharing your experience. That was a real fast cycle. I just ordered some Dr Tims 🐠
This was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you!
SUPER helpful video!!! Many Thanks for sharing! Keep up the great content!
Great video, thank you. That purple rock scape looks amazing
After adding ammonia and the beneficial bacteria, did you keep your filter on?
yes
This was super helpful! Thank you for the video and explanation!! Happy reefing!
Great video! Thank you so much for your work!
This helped A LOT THANK YOU so much now so know how to do this!
Thanks for this video, it is super helpful and informative

Wow.. Dosing ammonia is much quicker than doing fish food! I am currently on 14th day cycle and still no Nitrites and ammonia is 1-2ppm. Good job!
This was a great informative video thank you!!
Awesome video ! It was super helpful! :)
Is that caribsea life rock ? And how many pounds ?
What time did you test every time
What light is this?
Great video! Did you use tap water and Dr. Tim's First Defense like the guide says?

Mine was sort of a white color too, and had no smell
This was amazing. Thank you
Great Video!
Hi , I like your rock ! Were can I get then , with same style design.
Grate video keeep uploading.
Hello so when I did this I’m on day 2 but cloudy still :( can I do anything to clear?
Love youre rock layout
how did u determine u added 2ppm of ammonia later on to just check the bacteria? like how does one measure that?
I will be completing the cycle soon. I won't be able to get fish for another 2 weeks, do I continue to dose 2ppm ammonia and how often?
I was under the impression the bacteria in the bottle and the one that comes with live sand is counterproductive to each other.??

You are correct. Dr Tim talks about this is some of his videos.

thank you for this video, this mean a lot to me, i'm using dr tim ammonium. chloride too, this is my first day. im gonna subs to your channel.
Do you put back the water in the tank after testing?
What was youre salanity and temperature at the initial beginning?
your only suppose to dose ammonia again if ammonia and nitrtites both read 0.
I made mistake, light on when cycling, my sand full brown algae, and "hair".
What must to do?
Hi can I just ask where you got the Dr Tim’s results chart from to record your results?
hello what parameters of the water do you use? Dr Tim says he uses a low salinity of 22ppm and a high temperature.
I set up a 36 gallon tank yesterday with dr tims one and only and i didnt use anything to kill the chlorine, until today 24 hours later, do i need to put in more of dr tims?
De chlorinate first *then* add the one and only.
The chlorine killed the bacteria.
Did you do a water change on day 9 or 10
My api test kit Is showing 8ppm of ammonia and my salifert test kit is showing 0.5 ppm of ammonia. I’m so confused. Gonna try Red Sea ammonia kit and see where I’m at
Whats your temperature on the tank and salinity
great video! thank you :)
My ammonia is zero but my nitrite is still 5ppm and nitrate 160ppm.
I would suggest to wait until your nitrite hits 0, then big water change to lower the nitrates and you should be good to go.
@@HerNanoReefs does all the bacteria die off if we leave the ammonia level at 0 and wait for Nitrite goes down ?
Same as me. Did u wait Unit the nitrite become 0?

It says on the bottle how much you'd need, for dr tims ammonium it says 1 drop per liter or 4 drops per gallon
@@yatzeniavila4463 Do you add it in before or after the doing the bottle of beneficial bacteria
Very helpful thanks
Niceee lov this video thankssss
Gurl that was between 2 or 3 ppm on the ammonia...you saw 1?
Also, I know those lights were on not only for the vid cuz diatoms would not grow
