    Very good work Dave. Please in the future use axle stands or some other solid item (a spare wheel, etc.) under the car while working under the car. Hydraulic jacks are notorious for failing at random times leaving the person below with a few broken bones, or worse.
    I love your work, your videos are great, I just wish to make sure you can keep making them :)

    Where is the liquid sealant applied? And why that wasn't applied?

    Just wondering was there any particular reason why you changed the water pump and thermostat on the car, or did you just to it for preventative maintenance reasons?

    I have a BMW E60 2007 engine N 47.What are the symptoms of a dying pump??? I was like whistling but then there was...now the car at idle keeps the temperature at 87 degrees, but under load the temperature rises to 105 degrees,and presses the coolant from the expansion barrel could it be because of the pump?

    Thanks for your video, did you know that the belt tensioner of your car looks like the same as in BMW X3,2008,2.0 DT, E83. I have been looking all over the you tube channel regarding the procedure on how to remove the belt tensioner. To remove this belt tensioner is very different from the usual belt tensioner removal from the other cars. Thanks a lot... Rick M

    Would recommend just watching the Haynes online video worth every penny. This was so painful to watch. 🙈🙈

    Well done Dave. I made a start last weekend but stripped one of the screws holding the intercooler. I had to stop because of time but managed to replace the tensioner and pulleys thanks to your other video. My car no longer chirps on start up because I've put a new belt on.
    Now I have seen this I think I will get my Dremel out and cut the screw.
    Did you drain or flush the engine block?
    Thanks, Mark.

      Hi Mark. I only drained the Radiator as the block drain is supposed
      to be horrendous to get at, I collected about 5lt of old coolant when draining
      and I believe the engine takes around 7lt of coolant also my old coolant tested
      & looked fine so I wasn't too worried so I didn't flush the system either.

    How did you managed to get the air frome the system? Is there anyway to tell if it's air left in the system?

    Very informative Dave, thanks for the video. My BMW e90 320d N47 starts to squeak after heating up. On close inspection the sound seems to generate from the water pump area. The water pump makes a similar squeaky noise as your earlier video if moved with hand and the belt off. You mentioned that the squeaky noise has come back after you changed your water pump, is it still there or you have managed to stop the noise?

    • @davej333
      @davej333  8 лет назад

      +Ghanashyam Kamath No I have still not sorted the noise and it seems to be getting worse, I now believe it may be clutch related as the noise goes away when the clutch pedal is depressed and returns when the clutch is released so it may be the release bearing?

    • @kgk7915
      @kgk7915 8 лет назад

      +davej333 . That's bad. Mine is an automatic and it squeaks only on idle after heating up. Raise the accelerator and the squeak is gone. Will be experimenting a bit and will keep you posted if I am able to solve it.

      1500RPM, does the noise get worse? If so timing chain guides, well known issue on N47.

    Word of advice for anyone doing this job, don't buy a waterpump from anywhere except BMW. GSF etc sell them, but they're inferior quality. Change your belt whilst you're messing around with the pump. I also recommend changing the thermostat whilst doing the pump.
    Mine isn't making any noises etc, but as of summer I'll be 100% changing it as a matter of preventative maintenance.

  • @23poggy

    Why have you put the belt on upside down, grooves facing up,
