No. The "swirl flaps" regulate the volume of air going into the engine. The exhaust gas going into the inlet manifold is regulated by the EGR valve (Exhaust Gas Regulator valve - deleting this is desirable but not related to this procedure). It needs to be noted that the swirl flaps act to restrict air flow at lower RPM which is compensated by the programming in the ECU. Removing the Swirl Flaps without compensating (remapping the ECU) will cause a lose of torque (power) at low RPM. This is due to the over supply of air - it will in effect "bog down". For us older blocks, this can be compared to having a carburetor that is under jetted in the primary jets where the air restriction is a fixed size. In this case the swirl flaps provide a variable air restriction and vary the air flow to match the RPM which provides the optimum torque and performance. Removing them IS NOT a good idea.
Hi. I used your product in my garage many times but after always have problems with dtc codes about actuator arm resting position. Do you have any solution for this problem? Thanks
put the actuator linkage arm on - it moves the resting position by about 3-4mm back within range. When I remove the swirl flaps, I cut the rod with a small grinder, leaving the "end pivot" in place so the linkage can still be fitted normally to both the actuator & the "rod". I cut the rod into 4 short pieces so each can slide out (rod carrier removed from intake manifold, it just clips on). I use a grinder because the rod is tough as old boots - good luck cutting it with a snips.
Hi, Where can I get this rubber Oring (grommet) that is used on the rod shaft? Show in the video at 3:20 mins. Thank you. Or any dimensions of this grommet. Thanks
@@kdzenins I thought it was just the seal leaking but when I took it off the rod had snapped. So had to get a new manifold with swirl flaps. The grommet was a hard bush. Let me find the size and get back to you on it
Hello! Could you tell me if the flaps are installed in the engines N57 (BMW 430d (2015))? Is it possible to upgrade the flaps as aluminium parts? If I delete the flaps, is it possible to do something in the software from the engine? Is it possible that I get some failure if I delete the flaps? I ask because I am thinking that the engine becomes different values of the air about deleting the flaps. Thanks in advance! Danijel
If there is no evidence that the swirl flaps or the motor are likely to fail, given your engine, wouldn't it be better to just clean the swirl flaps? I understand that you get minimal torque loss at low RPM but the inefficiency in combustion, the need for an ECU remap and the increase in emissions seems like a bad trade-off if you're unlikely to get a failure anyway. If you do have historical swirl flap issues with your engine model, I'm sure there is likely to be replacement parts that have superior engineering to replace your swirl flap or motor no?
please answer the Question People here asking ?you are Prefessional and want sell your Product?then you can also answer can I remove it only no programming no reseting something software and so?and after installation plug the original cables in?
Hi there, you do not need to remap or reprogram the engine after installation. You do not need to purchase anything else to complete this repair other than what is included in the kit. Thanks - Georgina, X8R Ltd
I am a subscriber now.❤thank goodness from Philippines 🇵🇭
I am going to remove my inlet manfold next week and clean it, just clean it! :D
Excellent, very well done. Thank you.
So if the shaft is removed what stops air from being drawn in from the next gallery or does it not matter ?
I do not think it matters as they a fed by a common void just prior to the shaft holes. The pressure should be reasonably balanced
What happens when I remove them? Then the exhaust can go into the engine without a regulation? Right?

Hallo, wir hatten noch keinen Kunden, der sagte, er müsse den Fehlercode auskodieren. Es sollte von selbst verschwinden. - Georgina, X8R Ltd
Question....after removing the flaps and fitting this kit, will I lose any torque in lower revs please? Thanks.
leadster88 I’ve the same problem with a different kit on my 330d
@@kingstonbe ? so you lost torque doing this mod?

Hi there, we recommend getting in touch with us directly with your reg & VIN to see if our kit is applicable. Thanks - Georgina, X8R Ltd
Good video cheers
Is this the same one found on a 2014 bmw 328d?
Hi there, please send me the UK reg or VIN to sales@x8r.co.uk and I can check if it will fit your vehicle. - Georgina, X8R Ltd
Will the actuator arm not hit the metal plug when it moves?
That's why you remove it I'm guessing
U have to remove the linkage
This still a problem on the 120d coupe 2013?
Hi there, if you send us your reg/chassis number to sales@x8r.co.uk we can see if this kit is compatible with your 120d - Georgina, X8R Ltd
