    I’m lucky in that my pump and thermostat were replaced before I bought the car because it is a bit of a pain to do on the driveway.
    Kudos to you for doing a grand job 👍

    From Cumbria originally but living in Sydney now (toolpro good gear). Got the 130i as my daily. The videos are fantastic and extremely well put together, you could be a TAFE/College teacher. My list is growing thanks to your videos for an extensive overhaul. Maintenance fitter by trade so I understand and enjoy some good quality maintenance. Really appreciate the time you took and also the editing is brilliant too. Keep them coming for the N52 please, I'm hoping to daily it long enough that I can put it around the track :D

      Hey man, great to hear from another Brit living down under. You’re on to it with the toolpro gear haha, I still love my old halfords spanner though. Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it. I was a maintenance fitter for years up until recently, yeah it gives you a good perspective on looking after your vehicles. I drive the 130i everyday now, great little daily. More 130i videos in the pipeline 👍

    Just loving your videos. The job not easy with the lack of access but your step by step tutorial takes the guesswork and pitfalls away. Cannot understand the lack of 'likes' per views of your vids - do they want you to do the job for them? Appreciate the work and technology/vid quality involved and total lack of bs!

    I'm currently replacing my water pump and thermostat. The rusted bolts have made the job 10x harder, I didn't know that the 17mm can be used for that power steering bolt, I just kept spinning the rubber. Thanks for the great video 👍👍

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  2 года назад

      Cheers man. Fortunately we don’t have too many rust issues here in NZ. Yes not using the 17mm to counter hold the power steering bolt catches a few people out, normally end up spinning and shearing the rubber. Thanks for checking out the video 👍

    This is a terrific guide, thank you so much. Unfortunately my car has spent its life in Scotland, so I had to battle lots of rust. I even had to dremel off some of the undertray mounting screws😅 One thing I'd ask, do you have any tips on removing the two 'quick clip' hoses from the thermostat? I am still battling them off.

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  2 года назад

      Cheers Kyle, yes I remember contending with rust in the north of England in my past! The clips pop up and the ends sit in a recess about half way up the plastic coupling, but the clip often slips down again while trying to remove the hose. Sometimes it’s easier just to pull the metal clip right off the hose

    My car coolant temperature is hovering between 106-110 degree Celsius is this normal after water pump and thermostat replacement…

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  2 месяца назад +1

      Around 80 deg.C is normal. Make sure you are reading the coolant temp and not the oil temp. if that’s the coolant running that hot, I would check the work carried out, and re-bleed the system and go from there. Also consider what type of thermostat was used (aftermarket vs BMW/OEM) there are some aftermarket thermostats that run at different temps

    If I need to replace only the Thermostat, would I still need to take the Anti roll bars off? From the looks of things, it seems like it could be done, would be hard but maybe?

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  2 года назад

      It would take more time to struggle around the anti roll bar rather than just remove it. I would just get it out the way, it’s not a big deal to remove it

    • @Utkarsh_A
      @Utkarsh_A 2 года назад

      @@MTechGuy Thank you for that, one more question is there any way to visually look at the water pump to gauge it's age? Are there dates written on it, I'm thinking that while I'm down there I'll check the water pump out, I wish I could replace it at the same time but it's too expensive here for me to afford just yet

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  2 года назад

      There is a date code cast into the body of the water pump in front of the two bolts, you’d have to remove the water pump to read it and even then you might not be able to make it out. Any uncertainty I would plan to replace it

    • @Utkarsh_A
      @Utkarsh_A 2 года назад +1

      @@MTechGuy Thanks, I replaced the thermostat, all went well, I just had to take the lower coolant hose from the radiator to be able to get the Thermostat out with taking the water pump out. I just had one more question, so this was my first time taking the Sway bar off and since putting everything back together when the car is going over bumps there is some kind of a crunching sound, have I over tightened the sway bar links to the sway bar (is that even possible)? or have I under tightened the sway bar, I am assuming it's one of those things as I didn't touch anything else that was connected suspension in this install

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  2 года назад +1

      @@Utkarsh_A I would double check the sway bar mounting points first

    How many k's is your 130 i when you bought it mate? I see a lot of them here in Aus with 150 to 200 plus km. Is this too high or it's still good to purchased?

    • @MTechGuy
