I thought the same! 😁 My question would be (2011 X3/F25 30d, 255,000 km), as I have the parts needed, but should I wait till I can discover any leakage? Then there is a pending recall on the EGR-cooler on this car, a 13 year old car... Should I carry a fire distinguisher with me? 🥺
Just mine on a 2018 X5 N57 engine with aprox 110k and had absolut no issues. I soaked them with mousemilk for about 10 minutes with engine still warm as recommended by the repair manual.
Yes, I have the N47 engine also on one of my project cars. There's no one else on the internet that shows the glow plug change. Will probably get a lot of views.
for those who have the EGR on, theres a way to replace the water pump without removing the egr, using a 10mm offset star wrench (from the side removing the airbox)
Another good one George. I think you are either very tough, or live in some sort of micro-climate! it's still bloody freezing here in Huddersfield, I need more than a T shirt inside the house! Been waiting for a decent day for weeks now so that I can throw a set of front brake pads in my E46. Annoyingly, can't get in my garage yet because the E31 project is months away from being able to be moved. Keep up the good work.
Replaced all in less than an hour crikey... good going that. These garages say "We'll need the car for the day" and never charge 1 hours labour for replacing a number of parts. Not the garages I've been to anyway. Good work.
@@GeorgeAusters Yeah but you know what you're doing. It's the torques etc for each bolt and how to put the belt back the way it came off. God knows what it would wrapped around if I tried it.
I’ve recently just done the exact same jobs on my E60 530D plus a few other things…also on 188k miles and everything was also original 😅. Although my car wasn’t getting up to temp, but you couldn’t tell unless you used a scan tool to check as the car has no temp gauge from factory. (Only through a secret menu)
@@dominotr7yeah although to be fair some of the parts shouldn’t have been on my car, they weren’t fully “broken” but if the car isn’t getting warmer than 55 degrees then clearly the factory thermostats have had it 😅 just cos the car still runs doesn’t mean it’s fine. And I think that’s the issue with these cars is that a lot of people run them into a ground cos on the surface it’s not broken but if you dig deeper then it’s obviously not healthy. Which is a shame but typical for these BMWs as most people simply don’t look after them.
My thermostat broke at 187k mls and my belt kit has been changed at 235k mls. I need to change my waterpump and thermostat and fully cooling system. M47 reliability
Hey goerge, i have a problem on my bmw e61, and i cannot figure it out, well the problem is dropping RPS, and when the rpm drops i hear vibrating, and for like 1-2sec, what do you think can it be? my bmw is 2.0d 130kw 2008 n47 and im kinda very scared if its very serious
George you should show how you clean things even if clipped up like your bolt removals, your after shots are always amazing. How did you clean the mating surface?
Great content. I own a 118d which had problems from the off. These 3 components I plan to have replaced, alongside the crack pulley. Would you be interested in showing how this is done?
Another useful entertaining well edited video George. I'm about to (attempt to 😉 ) replace the water pump and thermostat on my 2010 330d - as it looks like it's leaking in that area and it may be on the original pump still, at 125,000 miles...
Ive got 320d N47 similar age - I think my noises from the belt drive system are from the Alternator OAP/clutch - any experience of swapping that out in situ? I dont fancy removing the alternator and having to discon the battery
Do you not need to bleed air out coolant system if you've removed any hoses? Also, were you not tempted to change the crank pulley or it looking OK? Great video BTW - Peace! 👍
Don't buy INA drivebelt for this engine. It squeaks after few months. The Continental belt is much better. The same goes for the thermostat. Only OE BMW ensures proper operation and the engine holds the correct temperature in winter. Tried Mahle and Meyle - it reaches 87* and when you stop it drops to 75*C very quickly.
Just like to double check.. I've had it multiple times before where i've torqued a bolt, checked it and then I get a tiny bit more of a turn before it clicks again

It can’t be must have all been changed. No way a belt has lasted that long.
@@ianjenkins4641 235k mls and oem waterpump on my M47. My belt lasted this long and the tensioner and idler pulleys

Nice simple video, given me confidence in doing mine, plus the egr delete 😮
You can do it!
Good guide. A systematic approach that was easy to follow.
Much appreciated!
Thanks a lot for the great content. Be assured, you've got our support & appreciation!

I want to see when you fix the glow plugs you cracked inside the top when you tried to changed them

Might need my coat then as I’ll be in Huddersfield tomorrow for the football👍🏻
great video, but i think when you remove water hose put the new o ring before putting in, the olde o ring can leak
Doing a turbo upgrade and pulley guide and tensioner on the weekend 😅 will be a fun on a B47
Pretty much the exact same as this N47👍🏻
I am glad to see you doing the water pump. I said this car will become so attached to you will never part with it.
I love that you always tell us the oem part manufacturers, but could you please give us an idea of what they cost. Thanks...

Well worth getting yourself a vacuum filler. So much easier (if you have an air compressor or line).

has the EGR and EGR Cooler delete procedure required also intervention on the DPF , as in DPF delete, modifications in car's software?

Great video George ....Do you have any videos coming with regard to re-charging the Air Con ?
Maybe he needs to be certified to be able to buy the gas needed? I'm just guessing...

What bhp will it be once the remap is done and the egr is deleted great content keep it up
Unsure yet
How come the water pumps last so long on those if it’s looked after I personally think the n47s are great engines just need regular servicing.
Yes it’s not a common failure point on these engines to be honest.. they’ll probably leak before they fail
Could you do a n47 power steering pump replacement?
I think he has the electric steering assist.
Yes this has electric power steering

We shall see I suppose!
Does the egr cooler being removed need coding?
Yes
just got a 118d for free because its got a water pump leak, picking it up tomorrow :D
I beginning to think you like that car, George.
If you spend money and hours on a car then it's hard to give it away almost for free. You see, old cars have "no" value, a Porsche 911 would have.
Oh my god George the rattle was the tensioner??
I’m not sure.. possibly the belt👍🏻
