    This is VERY true, I've lived in a rich suburb/city area and I've lived in a poor city area I can honestly say that as soon as I got to the poorer area, I became angry and depressed. I started drinking heavily and listening to angrier music due to it, it was extremely miserable so now instead of drinking I've changed my habits to meditation and listening to jazz music. I've been better but I've also been worse before. Thanks for the info and I've hit that subscribe button because I still have much to work on, within myself.

      I honestly did too, all the time when I was younger, but now, the only way I'm listening to music that fires me up is if I'm working out and am able to work off that energy... and even then (and remember I'm 44 years old, so I'm not young anymore), I'm mindful about what lyrics I want to be in my mind. I appreciate all the kind comments you've left me on my videos my brother!

      Dr. Christian Conte
      Hey, I appreciate your replies to my comments. It's nice to hear back from RUclipsrs ☺
      I've been a lot calmer from watching your videos and I owe you so much. I used to be so angry for the smallest of reasons and I was pushing people away and throwing my fists around unnecessarily. I didn't know why I was so angry.
      After watching your videos, I now know where the anger is coming from and I am a lot more mindful to myself and to what causes the anger.
      Thanks again brother!
      I look forward to your next videos.
      Much peace to you and your family!

    Great video and advice. I am still trying to deal with the anger put into me primarily by my father when I was growing up. One of the ways he bullied me was by deliberately chewing his food loudly with his mouth open at me , and threatening to hit me if I objected. I am mindful to this day of people who eat loudly, but watching your videos is really helping me let that anger go , and to feel more at peace and accepting of the real world. Many thanks.

    Watching the NEWS on TV could be one of the worst things you can do. It could be causing you PTSD. The ave person sees maybe 1 traumatic event a year, while the ave person watching the NEWS could see 1000s of traumatic events per year.

    Yes.this is true. My brother had issue already before this violence video game he is playing he almost killed me twice in two sepearte incidents . He is ready to jump and fight..like whaaaat. He looks and feels scary turned into a monster no doubt.It's tough . No one realises the impact it's having on him. He is hooked now with quartine too. Your video's have helped me humble find patience and be at peace with myself. Knowing I am safe no matter what. And that there is a beginning,middle and end to everything in life. Thank you so much. I will keep learning.
    What has helped most too is the giving your energy away when someone belittle's you hahaha i imagine it like giving me phone away. It worked like a charm instantly.. ahh❤ it felt like freedom. I mean it is freedom.

      I cannot tell you how many parents have said that to me. Literally, I cannot possibly count how many parents have either told me that in person or written in to say that. I have no judgments for anyone who plays those games, I only want to make people aware of the impact they can have. For me, it's so important to make sure the environment that surrounds our daughter is one of peace. Definitely sending you much peace!

    Speaking of angry music, I was a full-on Metalhead in My teen years, and got mad everytime when someone would play sassy music or insulted My musical taste!
    I now realise how selfish and angry listening to brutal sounding music made Me, as I don't listen to it as much as I used to!
    To calm Me down in today's world (2024), I genuinely do research online about what will happen to Us after We die and about history, science, and religion ect., as I find those topics to be the key to something extraordinarily fascinating!
    Although I do have a problem with how religion and science heavily conflict with each other, as there are times when I strongly agree with evidential scientific fact, and also can somewhat agree with supernatural occurrences of the paranormal, as I Myself has experienced a paranormal homely event back in Summer of 2010!
    Very strange of what happened that night, as I've yet to tell You (if You wish to hear it, that is)!
    I know most will say that there is an explanation for this nonsense, but here's the thing, nobody can find one!

    Hey i really agree with your statements around television and music. I belive as well that we invite the negitave mindset in when we listen or watch negitave content and are not aware of its impact.
    "Words are a clumsy way of expressing thoughts."
    Alan Watts.
    We need to stop this epidemic of people trying to abbreviate words until they are meaningless letters. We should instead take pride in our ability to express ourselves using as many words as possible to explain our thoughts. Our thoughts and emotions are complicated and deserve to be explaind as best as we are able.
    Thankyou for your view and as always a great start to a conversation.

    • @DrChristianConte
      @DrChristianConte  6 лет назад

      Love the Alan Watts quote! I think I've read most of what he's written. I also really like the phrase "start to a conversation," because as soon as I finished this video, I was like, "Man I could have talked for an hour straight on this subject," - but I'm thinking longer videos probably wouldn't resonate as much with people - so I try to keep these relatively brief. Sending you all the best and much peace brother!

      YES! My goodness I think it's so important to realize that news is largely designed to get us fired up so that we'll tune in - The more we can realize that it's designed to elicit our fight or flight response, the easier it is to give ourselves permission to step away from it for a bit, or at least be mindful as we watch it. Sending you much peace brother!

    Just a general comment about anger. I've been doing mindfulness meditation for about 40 days. There are still plenty of things I don't like but they rarely ' make ' me angry anymore. Rather than me being triggered into being angry and acting angry, I feel like I am an outside observer. Any way it has really helped me and I thought I'd share it.

    • @DrChristianConte
      @DrChristianConte  6 лет назад

      I'm a huge fan of, proponent of, and avid meditator. I have one video on meditation so far, but I actually want to make many more on it. I think meditation is the real key to handling our emotions, so I love that you're doing that. Sending you tons of peace and all the best!

    This is powerful and interesting stuff. Especially the part specific to the internal dialogue. Some deep intuitive part of consciousness recognizes and knows this to be so, but dam it's hard to cut it out. Not saying I'm all Mr. negative and bitter grumpy pants 24/7 or anything, but I can get caught up often enough in reacting to things I don't really like, and end up feeding myself verbal and mental gun powder. If I could just remember all this sage advice in the heat of incidental moments, there could be a lot more peace in my bubble.

    But I have confession I listen to alot Heavy metal like hatebreed and Blood for Blood, However I konw it anger music, but I love that music because not Only I related to the anger, but there some postive stuff in it too, It kinda let me know that im not only dealing problems. Like metal, but If im driving and im stress, I guesss try to listen softer music. Overall, Love your video there been helping out alot and make some new one too!

      What's up Matt! Thanks for your kind words brother. I definitely listen to music at times that is "intense," (lol) and I don't think there's a "right" or "wrong" to it, I just like to be mindful of the effect it can have on me. So for me, I like to listen to certain stuff when I'm working out... Anyway, I hope that helps. Sending you all the best and much peace!

    I see violent video games and movies more like a release of anger to be calm again.. I think we humans are very aggressive animals and in our society we are no longer allowed to be too aggressive so we have those games, movies and heavy metal music to release some of that anger.. I think those things are giving us relief.. I see that you go to the gym a lot, it might be the relief for you pumping those weights.. the anger in my opinion never goes away, you have to release it.. some release it with games, movies, music others by lifting weights..

    • @DrChristianConte
      @DrChristianConte  6 лет назад

      I definitely agree that we have to release it, and in no way, shape or form is anger wrong or bad in and of itself. For me, it's not that video games are "bad," it's just that when you're playing violent video games, your brain is registering fight-or-flight level responses - and for a rational adult who can compartmentalize and be mindful playing them, it's one thing, but all too often, children whose brains are in critical stages of development are left unsupervised to play them for hours on end - and that seems to be pretty unhealthy. I can say anecdotally that in therapy I've seen many children who acted out impulsively after playing violent games, and when those games were taken from them for periods of time, that acting out was significantly reduced. I'm not a black-and-white type thinker, so for me, it's more about balance. My goal is to make people aware of the impact their environment has on them - because I think if we are at least aware of that impact, we can consciously choose to alter it or not. I 100% agree that we do need to release anger in healthy ways though. Love the discussion and I really appreciate you watching! Sending you all the best and tons of peace!

    Studies say you're wrong about the video games and aggression link. "some research suggests that, instead of predisposing young people toward violence, video games may in fact reduce real-world aggression, allowing people to channel their feelings into gaming consoles instead of other people.
    In one 2016 study, researches analyzed crime data and found that general societal violence decreased in the weeks after the release of popular video games." -- www.cnn.com/2019/08/05/health/video-games-violence-explainer/index.html
    I've also heard the same thing has been debunked for aggressive music. It is now usually seen as more cathartic than anything else.

    • @DrChristianConte
      @DrChristianConte  4 года назад +1

      Confirmation bias helps us see exactly what we want to see. Whereas I absolutely respect that some studies demonstrate the cathartic release practicing violence can have for some, I believe it’s wise to seriously evaluate who was included in studies that confirm the belief that watching violence has no impact. In fact, that’s actually contradictory to mirror neuron studies and neurological studies that are not funded by entities that are looking for specific results. One of the most eye-opening experiences I had was in the world of academia, when I witnessed first hand people skewing data to fit what they wanted to see. My guess is that an Internet comment section is not the most effective place to offer this counter, so please know I’m sending you all of my best and tons of peace. 🙏🏼
