These rocket engine packs were demonstrated frequently at county fairs in the mid 60s and I got to see them in action. Quite a sight.

Awesome and I just saw a jet power flyboard by in a recent Bastille day post by Guardian news. It inspired me to look back.

Back in the middle '60s, my brothers and I, saw a demonstration flight by, "Col. Ked," who was tied in with, "Keds Shoes," tennis shoes in this case, at the "Blue Ridge Mall, in Kansas City, Mo. The flight only lasted less than 30 seconds, but, to a young kid like me, it was fantastic to watch.

Awesome, also the one of the recent Bastille day celebrations a French inventor showed off a jet powered Flyboard.
I just saw on it as a short posted by the Gaurdian news yt channel. Man I typed too much sorry.

I remember the Jet Pack from the 1st season of Lost in Space back in 1965 thinking it was a prop, not till years later reading publications about the series, the Jet Pack was a real piece of gear flown by a man from Bell Rocket on 2nd unit footage around Red Rock Canyon. Then a lighter weight model prop for the close up of Guy Williams wearing the Jet Pack.

Imagine a office building skyrise that had nothing but ppl jet packing to work. That building would have so many chances for something to go wrong.

The Bell Rocket Belt was on display at the 1964 World's Fair in Queens, New York (Flushing Meadows Park). Sadly our school teachers did not take us see it or the 007 Car. Myself and all the other students in our Fifth Grade class hated that!!!! They took us to see a bunch of other exhibits we were not interested in because the teachers felt they were "educational". My friend lucked out his Dad took him to the World's Fair and his Dad took him to see the Rocket Belt Exhibit and the 007 Aston-Martin exhibit!!!!

The title of this video was about where jet packs are headed and really it appears they are not headed anywhere since most of the content is based on a time in American history when we had the drive to better ourselves as a nation. Lets be honest it, like so many other things is headed NO WHERE!!!!
America used to be a land where people would dream and not just dream but dream big. We have turned into a land of zombies where we only care about...? Well I don't know that we care about anything but I do know we have forgotten how to dream.

We couldn't even save people hanging out of windows at the World Trade Center. We could have put up helicopters and drop lines to them, but we didn't . What happens if there is a next time? It was what 15 minutes before both building fell. A lot of lives could have been saved. The US Government is responsible for the deaths of the people in the second tower. There was ample time to get planes in the air to shoot down the second plane. We need to focus on practical life saving technology. A jet pack that flies for 30 seconds isn't very useful. I imagine that even a minefield goes on for more than 30 seconds.

that's your problem, rocket engines are ok for space but when you have plenty of oxygen, go with jet turbines, there are jetpacks being made, design a pair of small hydrogen powered turbines that have mad efficiency and you will gain a bit more in autonomy.

Totally impractical for anything other than recon missions. This technology has been around in one form or another for more than 60-years. The functional design prohibits any real military application because flying it requires 100% of both mental and physical faculties. In any combat scenario these are simply fast moving HUMAN SKEET and vulnerable to any number of weapon systems including small arms.
