Hi Luke thank you for telling us about this SATTU I do not know what it looks like As I’m following the Indian culture I’ll be looking for it in Asian shops, Not very keen on ordering it thank you 🙏 respect and blessings to you
The bengal gram is roasted before grinding then it becomes sattu powder. You may see vidoe on you tube how the sattu powder is made. Though ancient process was to leave bengal gram in the sand so it gets roasted naturally and then sieve the sand to get the bengal gram and then grind it.
This is great!!!! I'm have sattu daily! TYSM sir. It's the Layman's Protien❤️ ... I really am quite skeptical taking protien shakes , therefore Sattu is my all time fav.❤️ Thanks again for the valuable information 🙏
Hi you can soak them overnight for 8 to 10 hours, drain the water and if possible dry it using dehydrator or roast it in oven or in a skillet over stove top. When it is completely dry grind it to a fine powder. Iam gluten free so it never cause me bloating if I use this way. God bless.

For people who are not aware of Sattu, this video is good for them ... Sattu is just another food, not any superfood. It is a traditional drink of Calcutta state that may not be suitable for everyone around the world. Traditionally this was used by labor class those who do heavy-duty work in their daily life it helps the energy level, not at all good for urban office-going people or those who are not doing heavy workouts. These propaganda of superfoods are not any study based but a common myth.
Is sattu the same chana that we buy from chana-singwala or the small black gram (similar to green gram) and we need to soak and cook it? Please clarify.
Luke do pay heed to some of the comments here and try to incorporate them. Listen to your viewers. Speak slower. Have the main points you are speaking about in text on the screen. Use more visuals. Play around with different camera angles. Let the video not be just you talking for the entire time, mix it up. Lectures can tend to make the listener zone out. You have knowledge to share, so take steps to make sure it reaches more people.
Hi Luke . Can u recommend something for children. My son is 10 year but he is not gaining height . Since we r in complete lockdown in Australia, we can’t go downside for play as well . Anything for height .
Luke you have said 24gm of protein per 100gm.of sattu in your previous video on sattu and now you are sayibg 19gm of protein per 30gm of sattu........now i am confusef
Someone on a renal high protein diet can have chana sattu, soyabean sattu. But the mixture consumes a lot of water. the water consumption per meal has to be checked as the intake is limited for patients on dialysis.
Sattu is high in calories( equal to mass gainer powder) not good to reduce weight. You can give your son whey protein which is considerably low in carbs and high in protein.
The "kala channa" which is actually brown in colour is the source of both. When the husk is removed, it becomes channa dal. Channa dal is powdered to make besan. To make Sattu, the whole gram is dry roasted, then de-husked, and then ground into a powder form. In south India, the dehusked gram is split and used to thicken coconut chutney. It can also be used to thicken any gravy. The roasted whole gram is also salted and sold as a snack.
In one of blog on Goqii, he's said if we take 60g of it then the no. comes to 19.7g of proteins. Though, from other sources, I read what you've mentioned here already
Yes just roast it and grind it to make fine powder, to have more fibre retain the husk other wise you can remove husk after roasting toh have better texture and taste
There are multiple type of sattus in the market. I like the roasted chana one. You can try and find out the one you like. My grandma used to drink the barley one.
Sattu can b made at home too. Highly nutritious. Soak cereals/pulses desired for 4-8 hrs . Dry them in sun or under fan. Roast and grind and store. Channa sattu is most consumed variety in sattu
i think nutrition facts on Google are for the sattu which is made up of gram only but luke is talking about sattu which includes oats, wheat, barley, corn, gram, millet, soya bean etc.
