In swordfighting, you can sometimes see instances of swordsmen using a parrying dagger alongside their sword. I feel like it might've influenced the design they went for with ahsoka.
@@AquilasCry Guys like him inspired all this. His two-sword system was intended for wile fights against many. He never neglected using just one though. He was a strong advocate of being fluid, adaptable and comprehensive. A bit like Bruce Lee.
@@TheGroundedAviator well in order to master 2 blades, you need to have mastered 1, and while musashi didnt invent the 2 sword system, he was quite adept at it
"Use in intense battles" unless she's in her own show where she blocks with one hand and forgets she has a 2nd saber in her hand she can just stab them with in the mean time.
The style Ahsoka uses for dueling is called Jar'Kai. It can be used with shoto lightsabers and even both staffs. 1 blade is used mostly for defence and the 2nd one for attacking. Even tho from what I know both can be used for attacking.
Yep even Luke had a shoto saber and it was really handy to him and for Ahsoka it’s actually pretty cool that she has great skill using an off hand saber
Most dual sword/weapons users always used shorter in off hand. The only exception was dual welding shorter weapons like daggers, ect. Even samurai use one long sword and one short. Even true fighter could swap the swords in hand and trow off people.
Because you don't use two full-length swords. They get in each other's way. If you duel wield, you use a sword and dagger, and that's what Jar'kai is based on.
This has basis in real-life fencing. In the absence of a buckler, you want your second weapon to be shorter (even more knife-like than sword-like) so that you can have better speed and precision to block incoming strikes.
It's called a shoto and it's a nod to a traditional Japanese fighting style where the samurai would use two swords, one much shorter than the other. The shorter blade would be used to parry and deflect incoming blows to create openings for quick slashes at fatal body parts with the long sword.
Yoda: Judge me by my size, do you? Ahsoka: No, I use the same lightsaber as you, meaning you're not as small as people think Yoda: This truly was your great test. You'll become a Jedi knight and Anakin can be a master, and all charges pressed against you are gone
In swordfighting, having a second blade isn't a bad tactic. Although, it's better for the second blade to be shorter as it is an offhand weapon intended to compliment the main weapon through purposes such as parrying and being about the strike again and again in quick succession.
Full lenght sword for the dominant hand and shorter blade (dagger) for the off hand. Every swordfighting treatise worth its paper gives fair info on this particular subject.
She also used a short lightsaber because using a two long ones limits her mobility significantly, with a short lightsaber she can do a lot of acrobatic maneuvers freely and maximizes her offensive capabilities more than she would with a longer second lightsaber Remember, ahsoka is a form 4 user so the more she's able to move the more efficient she'll truly be.
Tbh it’s because she was actually one of the Jedi that represented them being based on samurai. Even look at all the Jedi clothes, they are practically budo-gi or martial arts gi. Ahsoka herself even wears tabi, the traditional footwear of most samurai.
This doesn’t really explain why, just says to upgrade her fighting style, but that’s obvious because it’s not like she’d give herself an extra one that is short to handicap herself. How did it upgrade her fighting style
You can tell Dave is obsessed with Japanese culture, especially with Samurai. Her sabers are based on the Katana sword’s, and her outfit in Ahsoka series just screams *ME WOMAN SAMURAI*
Interesting that they use the Japanese term "shoto," which means "small sword." The longer sword is called a "daito" (big sword), and the pair together are called a daisho. "Shoto saber" is a bit redundant, though. "Small sword saber"?
Obi-wan’s Lightsaber is longer than Aniken’s that’s why Obi-Wan and Padme had some diplomatic business to attend to resulting in he being Luke’s biological father
So….. why are we getting shorts of OBVIOUS fucking questions here lately? Anyone who knows anything about lightsabers, which if you’re a Star Wars fan you should, would know her second blade is shorter cause it’s a shoto lightsaber. Basically the lightsaber equivalent to a short sword or kodachi
I can imagine yoda feeling like "finally i can teach someone how to use something MY SIZE FOR ONCE YOU GIANT SHITS"
“finally, teach you i can, for once, to use something my size. giant shits, you all are”
"stupid like that, i do not talk"
“giant shits, you all are. use shoto you must now.”
cringe
Awesome😂😂😂😂😂
She stole it off a youngling to make her master proud ❤️

Miyamoto Musashi would be proud.

To be fair we can argue the same for grievous or anyone else who used more then one lightsaber
My headcannon telling me she named the saber *Youngling slayer 4500*
Anakin: you can take a seat on the concil, but i doesn'tgGrant you title of younglings slayer.
Ahsoka: my lightsabers like yoda, I guess that means I’m has strong like him.
Short answer one of her lightsabers is a shoto saber
Ahsoka 🧡💙🧡💙Amazing video my dude!
You didnt mention that using 2 different length sabers prevents them from tangling up. And jedi with an additional blade gives more options in battle.

Yep! Ahsoka perfected Form IV Ataru and took on Jar'Kai as a style to specialize in dual-blade combat! 😊
I love your vids, keep up the good work, this video was really interesting, I always wondered why she had one small one and a big one.
And she was a good friend

Even watch stars Anoka went from sword stial to katana helts
She uses them well
Historically wielding 2 swords looked like that:
-normal size rapier/longsword for attacking
-shorter sword/ dagger for parrying and controlling opponents weapon
Alternative theory: Ashoka had liked the Shogun's Katana from Shadow Fight 2 so much she mastered the technique of 1.5-wielding
Because you don't use two full-length swords. They get in each other's way. If you duel wield, you use a sword and dagger, and that's what Jar'kai is based on.
To make it easier for the animators to distinguish between both sides of her model.
Even a light saber can have dwarfism… I must get one

La Verdadera Destreza has a fair lenght to say and ptactice about that, an absolute blast and relax.

😏 She kicked butt with these lightsabers ✅👍🏽
same reason samurai have katanas and wakizashis
Also known as daito and -- ahem -- shoto.
Cool video 😊
The idea comes from feudal Japan, when some samurai used two swords at once. The most recogniseble example is Miyamoto Musashi.
_Miyamoto Musashi has entered the chat_ 👀👀👀
He just put the hilt wrong side. (I mean if you put the lego hilt wrong side its shorter)
I always thought she got her shoto saber from Even piell after he died.

Ones a standard length and the other is like a tanto, many samurai carried a katana and a shorter blade like this.

That what she said
Asoka Laber as a normal Shoto is 26 inches a Yoda Labers is 22 to 24 not a much difference but Yoda does have the smallest lightsaber
Its a katana and wakizashi just with lasers
Its not about length ...its about girth
nope she actually took a light saber from a Sith and made it white but its still a different shape lightsaber than her other one
