ok.. i am 71 and decided to take the UKE out of its hiding place and learn how to play properly ( to impress my Grandsons..one of which held his head in his hands with a hopeless expression in body language ) and searched for the perfect teacher.. You, my young man, are he.. thank you.. 'like your humour and patience and perfection.. will be tuning in and WILL perfect this song ,one of my favourite tunes .. and yes LOVE with way IZ sings this too.. sad that he is no longer with us .. thank you ..big hug.. now, back to practice .. Grandma Win
Y'all - for those of you who are struggling to "keep up"... Set your playback speed to a slower pace and work on keeping up with it that way. Once you can keep up, set it to the next higher speed. Keep going till you're at "normal". (See the wheel on the lower right of the video, next to the CC box.) This little idea has saved my life and I have learned soooo many more songs this way - not to mention, I've learned how to play so much faster as a whole because I set the playback speed to a level I can handle and then I move up as I get better. (Case in point, his strumming here is a little harder to figure out and conquer - it's a bit easier if you reset the playback speed... though, he really does need to slow it way down for those of us who are still learning. It's not an easy strum to accomplish right out of the gate.)
Gotta say man, you do not get enough love for this video. I've looked at a ton of different tutorials for this song, but I always keep coming back to this one. Well done!
I'm watching while writing this comment and, I have to say! That you're giving something unique, like i can feel your nice approach to viewers, and also if someone don't like all of talking in video then they can just skip to important stuffs through description and i think that's also nice! You're making my learning less alone and more fun, also giving me a lot of joy. So thank you so much for all your effort that you have put in this video! Keep it up :D
Man, my first language is spanish but I understand everything! besides, you explain it in a funny/relaxed way. Only 1812 likes? really xD not enough for this tutorial!
Fantastic that all you need is a chalkboard and a uke to teach this song so well. I got a uke yesterday and have been searching religiously for a good tutorial for this song. You by far are the best and actually fun to learn with you, great job my man! 😁👍
Man! You are the best ukulele teacher. The perfect exemple that you don't need many post production to make a good ukulele video. The way you teach is so natural and easy going. It seems that I am here seated in front of you. Tahnk you very much!
This is the only tutorial video for this song that i've found that actually teaches the correct strum pattern, as well as chords. Most tutorials have either one, or the other, or both being wrong
My concert ukulele arrived today! I have been bouncing around RUclips this past week trying to find the best teacher and landed here because you explain things well and also have a nice voice! Thank God for the history search or I wouldn't have been able to find you again! Looks like I'm going to need a cheat sheet for notes since you just erased them from the board. lol No matter...I will figure out how to keep up with you! Thanks! :)
...needs to be slowed down - WAY down so we can play along and learn it first before trying to turn it into a song and play changing chords on top of it. Completely agreed Mike!

I absolutely love the way you did this video, you are fabulous - My son bought me a Ukulele for Christmas and I love it, it is a little challenging on how to hold it. But for this video, I am determined to watch it over and over again until I can play this song. I will say - you are a wonderful and entertaining teacher, thank you.
Normally I play the guitar but wanted to try ukulele after seeing Espen Lind’s Scared of Heights, and this is the best music tutorial I’ve ever seen. Great teaching style! It would be great if you could do his song, but I dont know if youre even still doing this
I enjoy your blah blah! The lesson is very good as well. I like that you take your time and do not rush through your videos. Strumming like you suggest sounds so great! I just started playing a few months ago and I tend to not think of those things on my own. :-( Thank you!
Very well done, I loved your entertaing teaching style. I wish upon a star.... oops got carried away. I wish I had a ukulele so I could play this... Someday oooooooh ooooo ooops got carried away again. Now I have to go buy a ukulele just so I can play this ;)
Why oh why didn´t I find you before.... this is so cool!!! Love the way you explain it, it is super helpful and at the same time straight to the point. Thank you so much for this great tutorial!!! :))))))
Thanks for the lesson. I don't like this version I think the original is far better. However, I will learn it just in case I'm ever asked for it. Keep up the good work.
you did so GREAT!! But why did you do intro next? I thought the intro would be first and THEN the song part. Any way your voice is AMAZING, and this is from a choir successor, so GREAT JOB!!! 10/10
where is the part: the colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky, are also on the faces of people passin by, i see friends shakin hands singin how do you do... they realy sing.... i i love yuuu and then: i hear babies cry and i whatch them grow, they”ll learn much more then we”ll know and i think to myself... what a wonderfull wo ho orld wo ho orld ... i would love that piece🙈
those are the lyrics of 'what a wonderful world' by armstrong. there are a few mash ups of this one and over the rainbow cause they fit quite well :) here are the chords for wonderful world: www.ukulele-tabs.com/uke-songs/louis-armstrong/what-a-wonderful-world-uke-tab-18080.html
Great tutorial. I especially like the "skips." Great how you broke everything down in sections. Will watch again and again. Suggestion: Next time, please aim the camera so that we can see more of the bottom of the chalkboard. Some information was difficult to read. Thanks so much!
You are talented, but like most tutorials on this song, everyones off on the strum pattern , just doesnt sound the same as Iz....BUT I found a video that was the best by far, he doesnt mute the strings, but by far the closest sounding , and the strum pattern he does is slightly different than everyone else, he starts with an up stroke, check it out link below and dare to compare to Iz and everyone esle, he's the closest sounding, it just flows better. (and if you dont have a low G, just hit "C" 2nd string & it sound very close to a low G. THIS IS THE LINK: ruclips.net/video/A-psZvNTSz4/видео.html
The strumming pattern is so confusing for me and it is way too fast for that song....It is like we are racing SOMEWHERE lol... I believe the original song is way slower which also would be easier to learn. I think the strumming pattern should be broken down into more details and SLOW....
Check out Cynthia Lin she does it much clearer and uses a picking start to the island strum which sounds awesome like he says but does it with the high G and just uses C,E,F,G and Am

Great tutorial. I especially like the "skips." Great how you broke everything down in sections. Will watch again and again. Suggestion: Next time, please aim the camera so that we can see more of the bottom of the chalkboard. Some information was difficult to read. Thanks so much!
So much fun to learn with you teaching!

Sounds like fun
1939- Judy Garland. Toto et-all
You say his name like this Kaw maw ka vee vuh oh ley 😄😁
Came to Hawaii and play your Ukulele.....
Best tutorial of the song. Could you please make a tutorial on " girl from north country" also?
I did it🤣
You are talented, but like most tutorials on this song, everyones off on the strum pattern , just doesnt sound the same as Iz....BUT I found a video that was the best by far, he doesnt mute the strings, but by far the closest sounding , and the strum pattern he does is slightly different than everyone else, he starts with an up stroke, check it out link below and dare to compare to Iz and everyone esle, he's the closest sounding, it just flows better. I cannot get the strumming, not sure I understand your directions, very frustrated.
The strumming pattern is so confusing for me and it is way too fast for that song....It is like we are racing SOMEWHERE lol... I believe the original song is way slower which also would be easier to learn. I think the strumming pattern should be broken down into more details and SLOW....
How would you play it? I think the videos version just doesn't fit the song.
I use DDU UDU
Your other uke is going to have a cold head :'(
"did you know that -bite- is actually a rude word in French?" Ahah elle était bien placée celle là 👌
you are so funny hahahahha
Its very unclear what it sht EXACT way you strum :(
It’s :
>G chord
>Down
>Up
>Chuck
>Up
>Down
>Up
It’s supposed to be like that.
Check out Cynthia Lin she does it much clearer and uses a picking start to the island strum which sounds awesome like he says but does it with the high G and just uses C,E,F,G and Am
youre very funny lolololololololololol
not too fast to strum
Grrhhhhhhhh
Cutie :)
Thats not the pattern bro.
Too much blah blah....cant stand it.
when you were singing the chords you kind of just jammed the singing in there lol close enough
I liked the video, learned about the E7
