This is soo awesome! Really happy you have got into the trix brix bits. I’m super keen to see the narrow gauge track in your layout, it’s going to look great. A couple of other pieces they have that might work well is a piece that changes the narrow gauge from the left rail to the right rail on a straight piece of track and then an angled pass through so you could come on to the main line from your mine as planned then change sides, cross your other line then enter a mini train shed! What ever you do I’m sure it will be amazing. Keep up the great work Robin, you deserve this for all your hard work
You should have a train wagon with narrow gauge track on it with a ramp up for the narrow gauge tracks to come onto the wagon to then go somewhere else. alternately you could make it were a standard gauge train goes onto a narrow gauge wagon witch is much more common in real life but would probably the worse of the two ideas in my opinion especially with an opportunity for a new wagon for the freight train
I am really looking forward to see the new train system working ;) I have a question about the mine: Are they mining the ball-ore and sending it straight to GBC Factory on this narrow gauge track? :)
Ye please to the demo! It's amazing well done Robin I love watching this slowly build. I discovered you just over a year ago as you finished the mall. So the city was very close to complete. Love seeing the progress 😄
Ive just recently gotten into train sets and made my first circle track. My idea is to make it a roundabout of sorts, with a switch track and a curve track alternating until there's a circle with tracks going out in a radial pattern that leads everywhere in my city, and I'm gonna use trix brix to add a cross track running through the center of the roundabout
Not that you need any further commentary or suggestions. Trixbrix additions = awesome Additional videos and attempts = obviously, we want to see it all Your future plans for the automation extravaganza sound awesome. Might there even be some further connections with the brilliant powered fairground? Keep up the excellent work & thank you.
The s curves might be great for fitting in something a little bigger and having a neat jog in the line. Maybe something like veering around the airport or some major geographic feature? Maybe for the split rail in the front of the room you could have some of the cars getting inspected while a stowaway tries to stay hidden. That should mesh well with the loading cranes where a parked car could be in the process of being emptied or loaded. Would the narrow gauge allow a slight incline? It might be a cool elevation change that should look cool with the more organic mine. Having automation on the lines will help a lot with the increased complexity of the rail layout. It would get tough to manage later once there are buildings in the way of checking the status of the switches. Maybe we can get the wires to look like pipes with a bit of dressing. If you do a crime scene, maybe you could build a chalk lego figure chalk line into the floor. The radiation ones could be used for some kind of medical development place like for xrays. I like the custom printed tiles for the departure signs, its a nice touch. I like the idea of a competition for adding some additional custom city signs. Some Brick Notingham signs would probably be useful or something to personalize/identify some of the locations.
You could have some fun with the narrow gauge minecarts - maybe a stray rollercoaster cart with some shocked looking minifigs have ended up on it?! Then there’s the whole Temple of Doom thing…
Looking forward to seeing the mine now. I have the mine set from when I was kid I absolutely loved it when I was younger especially the train section. Might have to get it back out now. 😂 Definitely interested in the potential design competition, I'm something of an artist myself. I can just imagine a miles to Brick Derby sign where instead of telling you how far it is it reads not far enough.
Have you thought about designing the train station area MILS plate-ish to hide the wires underneath the base plate and minimize hole drilling? similar to how the fun fair park is set up.
I could make one with my maintenance crane with cab from the Cargo Train Deluxe set and the overhead service platform. All I need is some extras rails on a flatbed!
The sticker pieces are a great idea. things, adverts, etc could come from all over the world. you could have an international convention or BN world trade center bldg 😊

Maybe use the rebuild the galaxy set of a TIE Fighter and X-Wing and have someone build the set wrong leading to an angry director
Really useful video, thank you. Are you going to use the new road plates in your city or stick with the flatter baseplates? Height might hide the cables, but clearly cost more in bricks and plates
Demo please! I'm trying to get the hubby into lego, he likes trains and automating stuff so keep going with trains pls then hopefully I can get to build my city, I do the buildings story telling and he can do the trains 😉
Yup it's out now. Hope you both enjoy it. By the way, you can go waaaaayyy further than this if either of you are technical. Trains stopping automatically to let others go past etc!
Those terminators would be great for the transition from the old track pieces like the bricklink train garage, along with the cut off points for the walls of the room. The curled terminator is something that I haven’t heard of, yet it looks like it could’ve been still been used for parking carts or the trains (unless it could derail the train in real life than I guess it would make sense why the uk don’t use them anymore) Those sensors are interesting to test if they could detect the long passenger train. I personally would use the mils builds to hide the cables and don’t have to worry about dealing with the drilling (plus more unique landscaping and having some scenes of some in a ditch, possibly for being a snitch) The sings are awesome (my favorite is the zombie one) and radiation one would be a good addition and gives a idea of people knowing the sign but just want to break the rules and be reckless Guard: “halt there is radiation waste there!” Trespasser: “Yeah that’s why we’re here, whooo!”
Good video as always, however I have a small suggestion in relation to the last video with the train, if you now want to drive with the whole train, you could collect all the motors on 1 Ai receiver instead of the current number of Ai receivers, I hope you get my idea and I hope you might be able to use it🙏
2:21 Seems unlikely, as they would need to return to the surface to breathe, they could not spend all their time in the unexplored depths. Maybe you should have a woman tied down across the narrow gauge train tracks, the moustache-twirling villain having forgotten the trains aren't running anymore!
I have been waiting for the mine since the first mention of it on your channel..will it be multiple levels? Surface and under tables?..ugh ..so excited
I like the rails, as they really add a lot of needed freedom that the system lacks. Don't know about the lights, mostly because the construction just imitates existing parts, and it makes that weird matte gray stand up from the ground, the lights themselves I like. The tiles feels like a slippery slope, before long you won't even be collecting official stickers because you can just print whatever you fancy, I quite enjoy the ways you find in repurposing them. Not saying you shouldn't use the station signs, but maybe don't go completely off the rails with them.
No. I nearly didn't buy any tiles at all because I agree. I also like the limited stickers and prints for creativity. I may just use the lights on other LEGO pieces, without the poles!
A demo would be great to see before you start the city on tables
