    Eminem’s emphasis of certain vowel sounds over long verses while keeping the rhythm and rhymes is so masterful. You can see it here where he emphasizes those U (“you”) sounds in the first verse then in the second switches to the A emphasis and then I emphasis before the short Uhh emphasis makes it so smooth.

    • @Yoloslides
      @Yoloslides 11 месяцев назад +7

      because Jay pulls his verses right from his mind and experiences so they flow much more naturally. Eminem actually sits down and writes his rhymes line for line so they fit together the way they do. That's why his flow sounds much more linear with the "perfect" words, because he literally designs it that way. Jay's flow is more natural and the rhyme schemes are unorthodox with a much more natural delivery because he writes in his head and rehearses on the spot by mumbling. What takes the average rapper 20-30 min to write, Jay can think up in 5-10. Combine that with the references, the double and triple entendres AND the fact that he's talking about his real life and true events, you realize he's an alien. That's a lot harder to do whereas Em can say wild stuff like "Go to war with the Mormons" and everyone goes crazy lol.

    The best way I could describe this song is Jay Z had a very offbeat choppy flow but was able to make it sound good and Eminem had a very smooth flow where his words just flowed together so effortlessly and they both came together to make one of the best rap songs of all time

If people have a problem with you stopping to discuss what you're hearing then they can skim thru the video 😅

    Second. I was 20 when this song came out. Words can't describe the impact it had. These are two of the best, doing what they do best. They were both at the very top when this song came out.
    There was a lot of discussion about who had the better verse (still to this day). But this song is not meant to compare the two artists. They both were incredible in thier own unique way. It's just such an amazing song by a couple of the best rappers to ever do it.

    I like how you can appreciate the stark difference between the artists rap flows over this track. That being said, when this song dropped the consensus was that Eminem overshadowed Jay-Z and even Nas was quick to point it out on Ether. Rap is so competitive, especially among Juggernauts like Em and Jay, that even when they rap together they’re still trying to outshine each other because they know the the fans are judging.
