How heavy is one of the trays of the hot frog when it is ready to harvest? I’m a wheelchair user and I think this system could be a good choice for me if I could manipulate the trays myself. Thank you!

The good thing about the stackable bins is they can be as heavy or as light as you wish. I run mine very heavy, this means that I run the top bins for awhile, the worms break everything down and can do it for months and months making the bins very heavy. If you would like light bins best think to do is only fill them once with carbons( cardboard, leaves etc) once. Continue feeding the worms in the top bin till all the cardboard is broken down. Never add anymore carbon to the bin, just food scraps in bits. Once the worms finish breaking down the cardboard, the bin should be at the bottom of the two tubs. It will only be about 1/4 to 1/2 full and much lighter. Hope this helps! Thank you for your question!👍

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! I bought a worm café and a can o’ worms stacking system before I realized I couldn’t manage the trays myself once the castings built up.

@@NanasWorms I was recently gifted a second hand can o worms and I'm pretty amazed how huge this thing is compared to my homemade bin which lives Indoors! Think it will have to l8ve in the shed

@@eleanoraddy4683 Yes, I just harvested a tray after leaving the system outdoors on Vancouver Island (in a protected greenhouse) all winter. I fed the worms, but not as frequently as my indoor bins. I think they liked being left alone and just got down to producing great castings! I leave the lid off the top tray and put all the working trays on top of a half barrel full of soil and leaves. The juices, if any, drip down to the half barrel. I've been down there a few times and the barrel is full of cocoons and the occasional worm. The leaves have vanished!

@@TheWormWhisperer oh nice! Yeah I started a new one last month ago using a 20 gallon fabric pot. The worms seem to like it.

A bath tub will work perfectly for a nice large worm bin. Make you you feed it depending on how many worms are in it not how big it is. Good luck let us know how it goes!🎉
