- The Archaeology system is now available in the Cataclysm Pre-Patch, and this includes multiple Level 85 Epic items which are on par with Normal Raid Difficulty gear. Since these items are incredibly powerful and will last you a long time, farming them should be your top priority during the pre-patch, and in this video I'll provide you with some tips on how to easily do just that.

I wanted to keep this video focused specifically on how to farm the items in question, so I glossed over some basic archaeology terms that may be unfamiliar to beginners. Tried this strategy with 5 alts.. No luck with one of them :) im done with this shit.. Meanwhile my main has 500 Troll Solves and still nothing

It's currently impossible to 100% some of the races as they have artifacts that are not spawning at all, even common ones. e.g. dwarf and night elf
4 days 10+ hours a day of farming and no zin or staff

blizz shouldve added epic trading vendor to swap the epcis for usable ones

I've already started doing those, and I plan on making a guide. Currently I've spent most of my time testing specifically 80-85 from the new content, as I want to have a guide for that finished before launch. While I already have a general idea on what the best 1-80 route would be, it will require a lot of additional testing. I could make some shoddy poorly researched guide now just to farm clicks, as many people have done, but I want to continue doing test runs until I'm absolutely 100% sure I've found the fastest method. As such, the finished guide for 1-80 likely won't be out for another month atleast, but I will have speedruns done before that point which you can use as a template.

On WOW-Head it says Skill 525 right beside Zin Rokh etc can you realy farm it with 400+ Skill Level?
Well, you specifically need 450 skill, but yes, you can farm it with that. Wowhead displays aren't always accurate.
So, i got everything that i want (staff trinket) and all troll relics but Zin'rokh, do you think the odds are better to get it, if i relevel arch on an alt ?
I'd say you should do what I'm doing for now, and continue farming it on your main character. That means if you get it and eventually decide you want to farm Tol'vir relics after launch, you'll have additional races completed so it will be easier to find digsites.

ok tested this on a 100% rested mage to get the 2h troll sword started level 80 zero archeo and got it pop up at 84 and 25% to 85
Imagine leveling Archaeology on multiple characters.
Even one is tedious with all that travel time.
There's litterally no need to do that since all the good items are toys or account bound.

But it was mentioned in the video that if you use multiple characters you can target farm those extremely rare items little bit easier. =)
with your explanation does that mean that if i solved 2 of the 3 troll rares and then make an alt will i be guanteed to only get zinrok as the solve

Good question, I did initially consider this but unfortunately it doesn't work. All rare solves are character specific.
it's simply RNG, there is no special way of getting it
Archaeology has been confirmed to be very bugged with rewards and collections right now, heads up.
A guildie of mine got the 2h Sword after only 16 troll solves.. dude was lucky af.. tho his main is a shaman but at least it's BoA so maybe he'll get to use it later on
ya i have two guildies who have got the sword sub 50 , it was 41 and 46 exactly. im on troll 238
that's the disheartening part, people are getting the 2h'er and staff that don't even want it...
the waiting doesn't work, 4 alts in, I only get blue rares, and after that 30 solves for only grey items. seems like it;s all RNG after all :(
I mean, it is still RNG, I said as much in the video. This just slightly improves your chances.
Yeah only do the first method if you have tons of alts. Having max flight speed on one character is expensive enough so getting across continents will take much longer.

Unfortunately no, you can't unlearn secondary professions.
why are there videos showing gm messages on the top of their screen? is it some kind of cool fad going around?
I genuinely have no idea, but it has been happening on every one of my characters when I log in. I've reported 1 or 2 obvious bots in the past, and I think the system is broken and will spam you with "Thank You for Reporting" notifications if you do that even once. Ngl it has made me stop reporting bots in the hopes I stop getting flooded with these notifications, so Blizzard may want to look into fixing it.

No, you can't unlearn Archaeology.
@@Harldan1 You are right. Just to ensure I understood the video, if I have let's say already unlocked 2 or the 3 rare for Troll (no sword ofc) next toon with 450 without any troll craft done will automaticaly get the sword ?

@@kzk.8924 In original cata they weren't account wide, and you can still obtain the item even if it's unuseable.

No, that doesn't affect the drop chance.
Just to clarify, the bit you said about the guaranteed rare in 10 solves isn't quite correct. I got Zin'Rokh quite early on luckily and once I found out about a way to guarantee a rare solve I decided to grind an alts Archaeology to 450 while leaving Dwarf and Fossil alone until I'd maxed out in order to try for the Shield and Staff.
The way it actually works for a guaranteed rare solve is that you have to get all of the common solves first. You will get the guaranteed rare solve before you can get a duplicate common solve. I got every Fossil common (there are 12 of them in total) and then my next solve was the Fossilized Hatchling rare. I got my first Dwarf rare quite early on (no Staff) and started getting duplicate commons straight away, so the guaranteed rare and duplicate restriction are both lost the moment you get your first rare.
Everything else was pretty spot on though. Thanks for the vid, hope you get Zin'Rokh soon!
This is actually not true, though I don't blame you for being confused about it. I did a lot of research into the subject, and this is a very common misconception I encountered, especially in posts made around the early Cataclysm days. It is proveably untrue though, and I had a few duplicate commons on my very first character before I encountered a rare solve. I haven't managed to find an explicit confirmation on Blizz's end as to how it works, but the generally accepted idea is that you get a stacking 10% chance to find a rare after you solve each artifact.
But if was a stacking 10% chance to find one then why would I not have seen it after the 10th Fossil solve? Would be really nice to have a definitive answer on how it works but I guess all of the material on it is pretty old at this point. Thanks for the reply anyways.
I can't speak to your experiences, I can only attest to my own testing and the research I've done on old forums etc. All of my testing supports the 10 solves theory, if you're getting different results I'm not sure what to tell you.
Either way, the one thing everyone can agree on is that you get a guaranteed rare "early on", so the general strategy of waiting until 450 remains unchanged.

76 solves total for Zin'rokh, probably 25 solves after 525. But I didn't hoard solves for anything. Found the shield in probably 20 solves after 450.

There's no big rush, if you miss the first reset it's not a big deal. Realistically all you need is Heroic Dungeon Gear to enter raids.

or you could get lucky like me and get it on the first solve after max level - and osrs is not RNG, it's just dedicated grind with no shortcuts, that's why it sucks

This whole thing about being guaranteed to get a rare solve within your first 10 solves of a race is false. I went the whole time without solving troll fragments, got to 450 skill, and I'm now up to my 11th troll solve. No rares yet.
"Hold off on solving ANY of your preferred race's artifacts. It didn't work for me, but trust me bro." 😂😂😂 Holding off solving makes no difference at all. It's simple 1% probability. After something like 300 solves it becomes around 80% , and so on. Anything before that is just chance.
However, banking 200 artifact fragments for 450 skill will 100% make it way easier to farm the item
everything in every guider is copium either you get em in the first week or give up dont waste your time arch is a time sink blizz added to get more playtime

I dont think garantueed rare relic is a thing. I have done 40 dwarf solves now without seeing a rare.
It is absolutely a thing, so you must be mistaken. I can literally name my guaranteed relic for all types (D&P Statue Set, Ancient Amber, Clockwork Gnome, Haunted War Drum, Last Relic of Argus), and it's a phenomenon that has been confirmed by numerous sources ever since the original release of Cataclysm. My best guess is you completed a solve without realizing it was rare.

Literally just google "Archaeology Guaranteed Rare Solve". It has been documented across countless websites for the last 13 years. Or just start doing Archaeology and see for yourself? It only takes a few hours to reach your guaranteed rare solve with one of the races.
Also, keep in mind that the journal history is currently bugged and isn't displaying all the artifacts you've solved. Check your pet/mount/toy tabs and look for the reward that you earned.

right now im on 1080 crafts (440 from trolls) 0 359 epicks also tryed this guaranted rare item on 2 alts and still 0 epics :D
all this work for gear that will be obsolete once the raids drop and its only one slot, maybe two for casters.
they are bind on account so not obsolete
Unless you manage to get a heroic raid weapon super early on, it absolutely won't be obsolete. The gear is equivalent to normal raid ilvl.
Not obsolete until you manage to secure a weapon drop which might take a good 3-6 weeks.

Zin is 2nd/3rd bis. Most people will use it for a long time until they get a heroic wep
