I named my Guild "Team Gyldyggas" just on the off chance that one of the twins' greed gets the better of them and they turn into an JRPG boss, but what are the odds of that happening.
Yay, I was hoping you'd review this! I've looked at some other reviews online as well, which seem to vary greatly with the tastes of each reviewer. Personally, this looks like just the kind of DQ side game my kids and I will enjoy this year. It's going under our Xmas tree!

I absolutely adore this game! I used to love the old Dragon Quest games but as I’ve gotten older, have a career, young kids, a house, marriage… gaming kind of took a backseat to a lot of things. So I game at night, handheld in bed. Sometimes with my kids next to me. So I really like to play games that don’t put me in too much of an awkward situation if they look over lol and I need something relaxing because I’m not trying to get stressed out after a long day and before bed. This game got my attention because of the nostalgia but it totally appeal to that “search everything and everywhere” treasure hunting loot goblin that lives in my brain. It’s so much fun, I can pick it up and put it down no problem, it has combat that makes it more entertaining than a farming sim but isn’t stressful at all. This would be a great game to play with your kids or introduce kids to. I adore it and I’ve had a ton of fun with it. If you’re a dirty little loot goblin like myself who feels the need to collect EVERYTHING and you have some familiarity with Dragon Quest and are in the need of a game that isn’t all blood guts and boobs… this is it, it’s just a wholesome good time.
As someone who doesn’t have time for epic long JRPGs, this seems like the perfect title to play in bite sized chunks. May pick it up on Steam so I can play on my Steamdeck. Great review!

Thanks Alex for the wonderful review. I am about 10 hours into this game and really enjoying it. I think the time it takes to figure out the mechanics is worth it. I wasn't really sure what type of game this was at the beginning. You explained it so well. Just as a side note For-te means strength and would also have been a better word to use along with slingshot over catapult. Maybe the translator didn't quite get it right. It is a very charming game to play at the holidays.

This is the type of game I wanted when I had just finished DQ 11S
Erik was one of the best characters from 11, and that's saying something. Wish this was out for other platforms besides the switch, but I'm happy for everyone who gets to enjoy it.
Erik showed me one of the times i was most into the story of a game ever when he thanked me for saving his sister and basically promised again to be by my side, I WAS FURIOUS with him FOR THANKING ME, i was literally angry he felt like he had ti say thanks and repay me in some way because in that moment i felt like i was doing something nice for a friend so he totally didn’t had to and was making my will to help a friend in danger feel more like a low quest given by an npc done for the loot
It probably will be. Dragon quest 11 was on ps4 first. Then came to switch later on. They have a history of timed exclusive stuff.
i hope the xbox gets it mostly, this game is perfect for quick resume and cloud gaming.
@@charlestrudel8308 dude no joke my series s has became THE next gen machine I go to. It was super cheap, the features are convenient, it's fast, plus it has gamepass and shit ton of jrpgs and indies now. I mean, persona 5 royal, chained echoes, and p3 and 4 all within 2 months of each other on gamepass is literally happening now. All ffs except remake which I don't care about, they're just killing it

The thing that I find funny about the statues is all the characters from a game we never got over here in the US DQX. God we need 10 translated. For those who have never played it, it is TOTALLY WORTH playing.

@Backlog Battle yeah I beat the offline version and it's no where as avoid as the online version but it's Dragon Quest so it's a great time

I can say that this is easily a stream type of game something that a streamer or someone else would be playing in the background and entertaining an audience. That's been working really well for this one Vtuber that I've been following because she was playing this and it was a good relaxing 1st part of the stream. I don't know if she's gonna be following up with more things like that but it is a chill game. Which can also be said about the entire dragon quest series as a whole because they do just feel like very chill RP g's you just play for a couple of hours and then put down and maybe pick backup again. Considering how much work and effort I put into 11 along with finding out that they decided to release a definitive version I'm good with not playing that game again thank you very much whereas this one I'm fine with just watching other people play and see how they go about it. Good job with the review as always Alex and ever since I saw young Erik and young Mia this thought came to my head oh great this IS dragon ball lol. But seriously good job!

I absolutely love Dragon Quest but tbh I don't think I'll be recommending this to others. The performance on The Windswept Moore is straight up bad and the game itself is pretty repetitive without a lot of variety on the monster front.
