As a certified Run Button Hater, I think the reason some people only complain about it in 64DS is because the walk speed is SO slow. I personally dislike the run button in all games and don't care for 2D Mario as a whole as a result, but I have played them enough to say that the base speed is a little more reasonable in the NES games. I think we're FAR overdue for a version of this game with the smooth controls of the original and all the improvements of DS. It's only one of the most influential video games of all time; it deserves to be perfect. Then nobody will have to fight anymore :) Side note: Your video quality is really good for only having a few hundred subs!
I actually mentioned wanting what would basically be a remake of 64 DS with proper analogue controls in the script originally, but ended up cutting it for one reason or another. It really does suck that there isn't an objectively (official) best way to play the game :/ Thanks for the compliment! I've technically been doing videos for over a decade at this point, tho I started out with let's plays, eventually I wanted to pivot to "essay"/discussion-esk content, as LPs weren't fun/creatively fulfilling for me anymore (and is why they're unlisted, but still accessible via the playlists tab on the channel lol)
Blew my mind when you said the DS remake came out only 8 years later. Never really thought of it like that.
I love the Super 64 DS as it's my childhood
7:51 this is the most Scott The Woz thing ever
This is an amazing video. Keep it up!
They are both good.
