The success of both these two different movies proves that there is indeed an considerate size audience for both types of Godzilla movies.
And that they can both exist at the same time.
If we really want Godzilla to be successful, it needs to appeal to as many different audiences as possible. And it's also possible for people to like and enjoy both.
Godzilla in general has been doing incredibly well recently, so really there is no reason why any G fan should be upset.

Looking back in retrospect, Kong is the longer living movie monster with a reputation just as prestigious as Godzilla's, but where the latter surpassed the former is having an actual franchise to call his own. All Kong had so far had been three movies that tell the same story by Merian C. Cooper, which are the only Kong movies people know the most. Any other attempt to do something different and start off a Kong franchise (like the Toho films, cartoons, etc.) have all been met with utter failure, thus reduced to near obscurity as Godzilla was at one point. Even in the MonsterVerse, which doesn't handle one character's legacy but two, Godzilla goes through an epic journey to be crowned king in his Hollywood sequel while Kong still rules over a tiny island with tiny monsters and humans as his subjects, still being somewhat within the confines of what came before. Now, the last two entries, in what could be argued as two halves of one big story that is entirely Kong focused, breaking him free from Skull Island and into a new world of adventures, sequels, more stories; free of Cooper's shadow and become something new while still respecting what came before.
Speaking as a G-fan, if Godzilla having to take a backseat for a while means more time to properly develop Kong so that he can finally on the former's level and have his own King of the Monsters arc, then so be it.

Both Godzilla movies, box-office successes, with Minus One breaking records for a foreign film. Minus One winning an Academy Award. And not to mention that Monarch: Legacy of Monsters was both a critical and viewership success, despite some G fans not being totally enthusiastic about season one (yes, even I thought it uneven at times). But everything could have gone against the grain, and the fate for Godzilla could have been catastrophic.

There's a beauty in the modern Godzilla movie making. The 2014 Godzilla was made for people in my age group (35-55) who grew up with the character and always dreamed of a big budget Godzilla movie made by Hollywood. Wouldn't that be great? Well, we got it and I was very happy. It was a legitimate drama, a message, and the G-man. It wasn't perfect and it didn't make as much as it could have but we got our wish. I was hoping that's what the future of the monsterverse was. It didn't turn out that way.
It turned out that the American movies embraced the cheese and over-the-top stuff and Japan went OG and got back to their serious drama roots. The sides effectively flipped. At first I was sad but then I realized: both sides get what they want. There are still Godzilla movies being made about the horrors of science and man and there are over the top WWE with dinosaur movies being made for a whole new generation of kids to fall in love with. The Monsterverse is introducing Godzilla to a whole new generation of kids that will grow up with those being their favorite movies.
My grandkids will have Godzilla movies to fall in love with and watch for generations to come.

I think the lesson is that Godzilla has tanked through every obstacle for 70 years. We can have both worlds because of the strength of his legacy - Godzilla is more than the sum of his parts.
In a way - we can thank GxK and the like for even putting us in a position to have Minus One. And Minus One is proof that we can still have kickass films that remember the core of what Godzilla is. That both evade direct allegories to current politics is a big bonus.

This is the kind of sentiment that really is worth repeating: Godzilla (alongside his contemporaries) stayed to the course, no matter the bumps and hurdles it had to face on the road, while the rest of the world got distracted by and stuck in stupidity.
On a more serious rant: it really pains me to see that, only when everything else be brought to ruin, Godzilla FINALLY earned his long overdue acknowledgement from the masses (after almost a century of being the punching bag in the world of cinema goers). It truly shows that, people will only get to realized the significance of the things they used to know and love, when it completely snatched away from them.
Cuz of that, when they seemingly got no choice than to enjoy something that seems familiar only by a mile wide, they never would have thought that it still got the long lost things they thrown away for the sake of this currently hot BS they THINK is good shizz; the heart and earnest will to entertain people.
Genuine praise to you for helping clearing the brain fog in people's mind as to why everything has gotten this way for this franchise in this time period. I'm saddened to see that there are a shocking amount of people, who becomes more and more stupid in general about LITERALLY anything (have to confess that I myself, regretfully, also starting to become one of them) that tried making sense as to why everyone and everything has become this way, when they themselves are practically clueless and even outright unable to accept the situations in front of them.

"Ah Respect... Now that is a word I have not heard in a long time... a long time."
And I agree, that is what has made the difference with both these films. In terms of Western entertainment, it feels like a completely lost concept.
It is rather hilarious to look at all of the "Mainstream" IP's, the popular ones, the prestigious ones, the "High Art" and the Americana... all of them now lying disgraced, humiliated, destroyed.
    Disrespected.
And what character is among the last one's standing?
The "silly rubber monster suit stomping cardboard buildings." Yeah, that guy, not only has endured, he has shown everyone else up... twice.
As much as I complain about how protective & controlling Toho can be, I have to appreciate them for ensuring Godzilla has not traveled the same road to dishonor that has taken so many others.
I only hope they can maintain that into the future. I surely do.

I feel like we won't see one until the western home media release. Shin probably got it faster because of Funimation handling the distribution over here.

The funny thing is that The virgin Paleo community basically did the opposite by saying prehistoric planet is better than JWD, I’m glad that wasn’t the same with Godzilla minus one and GXKTNE

Solid video overall, but I find your statement that "people on the left" were claiming that Scar King was going to be an allegory for Donald Trump to be odd.
I could be mistaken, but it sounds like you're conflating liberals with leftists. The positions of a few random radlibs on Twitter aren't indiciative of what people who are actually on the left believe.

This being an off-the-cuff unscripted video, I won't necessarily think to clarify every single thing I say. Rest assured, however, that me saying people on the left" is not meant to conflate liberals with leftists, nor is me saying "people on the right" meant to conflate conservatives with rightists.
Basically, saying "people on the left/right" is just how it came out of my mouth, nothing more.

(19:15) Exactly, and because of the success of both films I think this will mean that the Godzilla franchise is gonna keep on going for a bit longer than we originally thought and possible grow even more in popularity (which is awesome). Granted I guess you can say that it's already popular currently but depending on how much longer both Toho and Legendary can continue to go on in the next few years then I think the Godzilla series (or even the Kaiju genre in general) may not be a niche any longer. So anyone thats been saying that "We cant have both", we'll clearly you've been proven wrong about it. 🛩☢🚢🦖🤝🦍🕳🌎🦧
(0:58) Also speaking of E.T.N I think it would be cool to see you talk to Rob again on another future stream of his (especially in terms of discussing the success of both of these movies and what may come next). 🎙🤩💻
